If we're to get Brad Ottens, we're not going to be able to give off 2 or 3 "average/reliable" players to get him. Here's an example:

Ottens to Geelong

Spriggs/Rooke/Enright to Richmond

I'm not saying these will get traded or that I want them traded, it's just an example. To get Ottens, they're going to want a ready made, 5-6 year experienced player, who's a gun, or they want quality draft picks. 3 players of their height, weight etc can't play ruck and FF for Richmond, so they want someone of Ottens standing.

It sounds simple, and it is, but people think you can give up quantity for quality.

I believe the proposed deal at the moment is Ottens for 16, 32, Enright and Gardiner.

Spriggs will be traded in a seperate deal.

Hoody, if that's correct, I'm not happy. That's alot to give up for one player, who isn't in superstar status yet. He has been allowed to leave because Richmond don't want to pay him highly, yet we have to give up a truckload for him. Doesn't add up!

They are two of the most contradictory statements i've ever heard! One minute you say, we have to give up quality, then the next you say you're not willing to.....

2 decent players and 2 high draft picks for Ottens is alot to give, but it shows how bad you guys want him ;). I would have been happy with the 2 draft picks only lol

No, Nanananana. I stick by what I said. I said you have to give up quailty, but what is proposed by Hoody is too much to give!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look at you pathetic lot overrating your players. Enright? Gardiner? Rooke? Spriggs? Absolute duds of the highest order. Richmond or no other team in the competition would want them. Face it if you want Ottens you are going to have to get a top 10 pick and a pick around the 20-30 mark. Good luck, I hope you get him as it will make your failure all the more enjoyable in 2005. 7 wins at the most.

Carlton God
Stating the absolute obvious

who do you think you are carlton god? kouta's boyfriend? what about all those duds carlton have had like david clarke? i can't believe there was someone stupid enough to re-draft the worst kick ever to play AFL!

You sad sad person...........

Enright, Gardiner, Spriggs & Rooke are all quality players compared to what you have called them.
Shall I quote the "duds" from Carlton?
Bowyer, Thornton, Whitnall, Harford, Mott, Kenna, Livingston, David Clarke!!!!!
Shall I go on?
Enough said.
If youve got a better reply, then please try.

well said Cats 05, if Geelong only wins 7 games next year then Carlton won't win any. that guy can talk to us when Carlton gets a decent team without going over the salary cap!

As long as you guys give us those 2 draft picks in the top 20, I'd be happy. It's obvious you don't want to give away a very talented player for the very talented Ottens. Otto is surely the most mobile player over 2m. Great kick, strong mark and athletic. He's very good at ground level too. If he played at Brisbane the last 4 years he'd be a superstar. With more ruck coaching, Ottens will be deadly as a ruckman, because he gets his hand to the ball more than any other player. He was winning the tapouts for the first half of the season until Stafford came back and did alot of the ruckwork. He hasn't played much as a permanent forward, but if he did he would be yor best forward no doubt. Anyway we are offering you a Mach 1 Mustang which needs slight work, but you are offering us Spriggs (a box of chocolates). Give us the draft picks, I'd rather keep clear of having players from other clubs. No Coreys either, we have Bowden already lol. He plays good, but he avoids the hard stuff ;)

In defence of Carlton, I'd say most of their supporters would be happy not be associated with the specimen in question.

I agree with you somewhat, half of my whole family is half Richmond, half Geelong and Id be backing Richmond if there was no Geelong. I have watched enough of Richmond to know that Richmond do need 1 or 2 fast midfielders and Spriggs could accomodate that. There have been plenty of moments when players have been let go to other clubs and they've kicked ass, so it's worth a risk.
In regards to Bowden & Ottens, I rate them extremely highly, but going on the facts with Ottens, Richmond are asking for too much for someone who hasn't shown much and has become stale.
In regards to Bowden, he is hopefully going to be freed up into a Chad Cornes type role, sweeping across the backline, because he has done that so well this year. But you do need to focus on a backman.
Hopefully the Bulldogs won't be stingy and let Gilbee and Bowden go to Richmond, because Richomnd will be already halfway there to restructuring their team in the midfield especially.

All I will say in end is that Richmond should stop saying that they want to be compensated for what they have spent on Ottens, and deal with the facts.
In the end, good luck to the Tigers for next season and I hope to see both Richomnd and Geelong fighting it out for the premiership in a couple of years time.
