Question (somewhat embarrassed)?

I attended the game last night.. and watching that final quarter was a bit worrying etc..

What I can't grasp the legalities of and so forth - and just wanted to seek clarification in here because it could in all likelihood be a stupid question.

Hawks boot it inside 50, and the competition is between Buddy and Harry.. and Buddy manages to push Harry over basically and take the mark.

Is this in the spirit of the game or what? I swear to god at one stage he seriously pushed him straight in the chest and out of the competition about a second before marking it.

I can't say I like this method - though if it's not against the rules that's fair enough... but just interested to know some other peoples thoughts?

I think if the ball's within a certain distance (I think it's either 5 or 10 metres) of the contest, then it is allowable, as long as he doesn't push the opponent in the back, hit him high, chop his arms, etc. That's my understanding of it. Could be wrong though.

Sure did seem unfair though.

It was just a test of strength of who can win the mark in those situations. Harry is good, but not good enough to be played on Buddy. Obviously we were missing Scarlett being on the bench...
