If Hille, Bradley, Solomon all play. How far away from your best 22 are you? Obviously Hird is in there. But who else is missing?

Ramanauskas would be one. I clearly don't follow your team too closely. Just wondering who else is missing that you consider your best 22.

I'm not trying to have a dig, just honestly have no idea about your list.

Thanks.

Mark if you are going on ability surely you would have Cupido in there too. However form and attitude are a different kettle of fish as most would realise in Cupido's case.

I would also have Haynes in there on ability too, however his attitude and willingness to commit to the contest means that if I were picking a 22 tomorrow to play for the Premiership (assuming no injuries) he would not be there. Ditto Justin Murphy.

The thing is of course that the Match Committee's 22 contrasts significantly with the general consensus amongst Bomber fans. For us, the likes of Henneman, Bolton, Murphy and Bullen are not in our best side, however, selection policy over the past couple of seasons would have you think otherwise.

Yep i forgot about cupes, football ability-wise i doubt there is a more naturally gifted footballer on our list. Fit and in form he is a walk up start in our 22.

Hird and Rioli have him covered, IMO.

Rioli maybe hird no. Hird hasnt the skill level or pace and balance that cupido has. Hird has a great work ethic and reads the play superbly. If cupido had jimmy's heart and brain he'd be a better footballer. He hasnt therefore he isnt.

For pure weapons out on the field cupido has all the guns, he just doesnt know how to use them properly.

Cupido did ok today I thought. Got dragged to often to have any proper impact. Did enough to warrant selection again next week. If Henneman and bolton lasted more than a week he's a shoe in to get at least 3 games this year.

I'm including football brain as part of overall talent. If you're taking that out, then Hird loses his biggest asset.

Back on topic, our best 22 would have Hird and Solly in it - it wouldn't have Cartledge (yet) or Alvey.
Ramanauskas is ahead of Winderlich on exposed form, but Rama was a long way from his best this year, and didn't really get into top gear at all.

Fit and at their best Hird, Solomon, Rama, Watson are all in our best side.
Johns of course being the unknown quantity.

LM, Winderlich, Alvey, Cartledge and probably Stanton wouldn't have played today if we had our best side.
The sad thing about that is the amount of pace we would have lost. LM, Winderlich, Alvey and Stanton all played their best games for the club today.

Thought he played the smartest game I've seen - gave the ball off instead of blazing away, did some of the hard stuff in the past he couldn't be stuffed doing. He still doesn't have the fitness base yet which is why he was rotated so often.

what about matty allan and does anyone think that Alvey would be in our best 22

I think Allan is def. in our best 22. He still is the best ruckman at the club. The question really is should we play him instead of one of the younger ruckman? It's easy to say no, we should play the kids, give them time to develop. However, having a ruckman who can actually win the majority of hitouts, might have a positive effect on the development of our younger midfielders. Maybe we can play Hille, Allan and Laycock in the same team?

I think Hille will be better for the run.
Allan is still our best tap ruckman, but the work Hille did around the ground yesterday and some of the efforts he made at ground level were very telling.

Three ruckman worked brilliantly yesterday, as it allowed us to keep one of them up forward for most of the match. As we know, Laycock and Hille are mroe than capable forwards.

I know this is a bit left field, but what would playing Allan at Bendigo do for the development of Cartledge? Could be quite a positive.
