Aside from the rumours in Perth that the reason behind Lynch being dropped was because he is heading your way, what do you think about recruiting the Big Q?

I understand GC17 have stated they won't chase any (many?) players over 25 even so I believe the big fella would be a great pick up. Why?

Lynch is only 27 and has proven to be very durable.

Lynch IMO is a CHF who can also play ruck / ruck rover, not FF and has been displaced by Josh Kennedy.

GC17 will need some mature bodies out there and even though you will draft the cream KP and ruck talent these 18 year olds will take 3 - 4 years to develop and peak.

The Big Q is a marketing managers dream. Couple him with Karmichael Hunt and you will have Batman and Robin, one recognised NRL star and a AFL man mountain who is also well recognised and respected in the eastern states.

Lynchy is struggling with confidence right now, he and his wife just had their first child and only has 1 year to run on his current contract. IMO he would jump at a 3 year deal and still only be 30 in 3 years time and could realistically play for 5-6 years.

This is a desperate plea to offload an underperforming, erratic shouldabeen.
Q stick should be a gung CHF. But he's not. Can't hold down the position. Can't kick the necessary goals.

If he was traded, I'd put him at FB, where he'd have to learn to use his bulk for his own advantage.

If he wasn't so erratic WCE would want to keep him, size and all.

You lost all credability with this suggestion. Lynch will never make a decent fullback.

As to his worth, well experts such as Gerrard Healy couldn't understand why he wasn't getting a game as stated he'd make the best 22 of most AFL clubs. Especially those needing a big KP forward............. I'd suggest Saint Kilda would like him about now.

But Big Footy experts know everything.;)

OBeanie, I didn't say he'd be any good at FB ?
The way he loses the ball in the air and gets turned around, he'd be no good at CHB either (Tarant example a success though, even thoiugh he's a smaller player). :D

You suggest Q is a good player and respected in the eastern states then say someone else has lost all credibility? Jesus.:o

I lol'd :D:thumbsu:

good player when in form. i dont suppose people would also knock back J.Brown because he isnt playing as well as he could be this year..

Lynch would make a good player at GC.

I agree.

He's a BIG unit, something Gold Coast will lack with majority of their list to be first year players, and i think he'd be a handy pick up as a ruckman/midfielder.

Somewhere between picks 12 - 30 i'd think.

Laughable :thumbsu: 30+ would get a deal done, but CG surely wouldn't look at Lynch - he is past it at AFL level and I expect him to retire at season's end.

Yes, a pick in the teens is hoping for a bit much, but he did play very well the last two years roaming through the midfield. The reason he's been doing shit this year is the coaches are intent on him being the big full foward he was in '06.

A pick in the mid 20's wouldn't be too far fetched, altough after what we've done with him this year, his value has nose dived. (not that it was ever fantastic)

Not that we'd get that anyway.

Right now we'd be lucky to get a 3rd round pick for him.

If say injuries meant Lynch was needed to carry the ruck and Lynch played some good footy between now and the end of the year then we might end up with a 2nd rounder tops.

Also depends if GC17 has signed or can sign any mature bodied rucks / CHF.

Bounce!

Well the rumour mill is firming for Lynch to be playing elsewhere next year.

Eagles have even been playing him in the ruck with NickNat and Cox to help lift his profile.

Told my 8yr daughter Big Lynch might be playing elsewhere next season and she crossed her arms, frowned and said she changing teams if he does.

Who ever gets him they will get a few fans follow him, especially the kids.

Won't get anything more than the GC third round pick. A year or two on the GC list could workout well for both parties. He's a big body that will help protect the kids.

He certainly seems more suited playing in a successful team, seems to struggle as a lead up forward, but maybe WC dont seem to put him in any particular position either.

I think he needs to play CHF or FF and take more shots at goal. I hope GC dont go down the path of taking him.

He's not protecting the eagle kids why would he start at a new club? hes a big lub who can't kick and doesn't run. He's a typical dumb footballer too - Can't listen to simple instructions regarding his kicking style for goals. I know the guy who tried to fix his horrible set shot a few years back.

He's been getting games all year to increase his profile. Lynch and Hansen were both written off by the club at the start of the year - they played the lesser of two evils in an effort to conjure a trade. Hansen is untradeble because he didn't get a game.

Lynch is uncontracted so if GC take him we will be compensated by the AFL not gold coast

Well the fact Bock at 27 is heading to the Suns indicates they will look at players over 25, Bock is 27 the same age as Lynch.

Lynch at worst would be a decent depth player for Gold Coast, at best he could play FF and kick his 50 - 60 goals or hold down the 2nd ruck position.

Since he is uncontracted the Suns won't be giving anything up other than a list spot and salary cap ............. of which they have more than anyone else.
