DISGUSTS ME.

Do any of the Raph lovers still want him in the side? His clangers make me sick.

IF goose leaves due to lack of oppourtunity because spuds like Raph are in the 22, i will alter my club support AFL membership to another team in protest. I will not fund stupidity.

No more chances raph, not 1 single more chance.

How many frigging blatant clangers????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I can't see the game, but, shit [strike]may[/strike] will hit the fan.

Herald Sun webby say only the 1 clanger...
But judging by those on Saintsational, and you, seems like that figure is wrong.

You'd think his football brain has had a lobotomy today, but he's not the only one.

Maguire's not a fair comparison, they are different players. I'd like Miles to be given a chance

Bugger off. It's people like you who accept crap like this from the club and hence accept mediocre performances. I will simply not give them my money if they are going to mis-treat a guy like Goose for a complete spud tosser like Raph. Question my loyalty all you like, i don give a crap, its the internet ffs. But you dont get FULL afl memberships by being 1 yr wonder members.

Yes they are different. One is a telentless spud, the other isn't.

Your problem is that you are blinded by hatred - as I write this, Raph Clarke has (according to the Herald Sun) :

- 14 disposals (3rd best Saint)
- 8 contested poss. (2nd best Saint)
- 79% efficiency (7th best Saint)
- 2 tackles (9th best Saint)
- 2 clearances (3rd best Saint)
- just 1 clanger (8th best Saint)

Seriously now, as a Saints supporter, fan and member you're kicking up a stink at the entire club over the performances of 1 individual while the club as a whole is 14-0?

A club who has been in the VFL/AFL since its inception and won 1 premiership, you're villifying and twisting your panties because of Raph "clanger" Clarke?

Loyalty isn't a question, overreaction is, I mean Hezeus, if we win the damned game enjoy it because when is the goddamned next time you're going to see the St Kilda Football club win 14-15 games straight? When is the next time you're going to get pumped for a possible premiership? When is the next time you're going to see a season where we win sweet didly nada but boy did that player try hard!

Get off his fuking case. He been alright today. Gram is the clanger king Blazes away into the forward 50. Lacks awareness at times and kick horrible mongral punts. Open your eyes.

Couldn't agree more mate.
Gram really needs to correct this part of his game.

Oh and enough with the Raph bashing :thumbsd:

Final stats for Raph Clarke (according to the Herald Sun) :

- 22 disposals (6th best Saint)
- 9 contested poss. (4th best Saint)
- 82% efficiency (7th best Saint)
- 3 tackles (11th best Saint)
- 2 clearances (6th best Saint)
- just 1 clanger (5th best Saint)
- 99 Supercoach pts (6th best Saint)

This thread is obviously A FaiL !

Chk-chk boom. Don't think you'll get much support on here AFail.
You can join the Raph bashing here if you really want to, careful it gets feral...

Those stats are obviously inaccurate to anybody who watched the match. Raphael had at least three clangers, but two were handballs. Do they count as clangers? It is more Bout where his occur. As a half back you are expected to hit the targets and you also have more time to due to the opposition getting ahead of the ball.

I would lie o see goose back in but a Raphael goose swap is not like for like. I understand that there are some oases with his speed post injury. U doubt there is a single saints fan who would not bleed red White and black for maguire but his arguement is not with Clarke.

Clarke was not the wordt today, but I do think his position is vunerable as it was not a solid or composed performance. I would not be suprised to see him out for schnieder now that dempster is back however we may puck up some injuries moving into the finals so we need to keep some form in players on the cusp.

Rest assured Lyon has put a lit of thought into selection.

True, he did have 3 clangers more so than 1 (the OOF). But yeah, he played a much better second half and was far from our worst.

He's improving with every match.

He looks really good with the ball, dodging, weaving all that, but screws the disposal up at times. I don't get it!

RL will stick with him though. And hopefully if he gets a constant run of games we'll get him back to his career best form.

You all know that I would love Goose back.

And I had quite a few "Aw, Raph!" moments today watching the game. But seriously, this is all a bit much. All of their skills were down a bit today - they were obviously stuffed.

Get off his case, AFail.

Oh, and I have to say, if one person having an off quarter is enough to make you dismiss a 15-0 winning streak, that's pretty ordinary. There's a magic word - it's called "Perspective". Look it up.

I am disappointed when these threads arise.

Raph more than pulled his weight today. He is improving with every appearance. I understand how some people see his faults as worrying, but his upside is more important than the occasional error he makes.

FFS Clarke isn't good enough. How many more shit games do you want to watch him play? His performance today was one of the worst i've ever seen from any player. It's nothing personal, he's just not AFL standard.

You must have been looking for him in the NM v Haw game because the game i watched he did far better than what you are trying to put across.

Its not really Clarke instead of goose, Eddy and Dempster got a game today too, Goose wasnt even an emergency. I really want to see Goose play again too but were too bulky in the back line. The only way he's gonna get a game is if dawks and one of Gilbert/Hudgton/Fisher get injured. I dont think he'l play this year, next year if hudgton retires and we still have him.

It will be interesting to see how Rossy & the selection team judge the performance of Raph and a few others. I think we need clear heads on fit bodies out on the park especially at the business end of the season. In the big games we can't afford disposals to team mates under pressure, getting caught regularly, etc. We were down on skills across the board, this could be put down to fatigue, but we wouldn't want to see it as a constant for any player. I believe consistently poor decisions should put the players spot in the side in question. Providing there is a player to come in like for like.

He was very good in the finals last year. Obviously thats why theres always so much debate about him too, it looked like he was set for a very big year, a break out year. For me, disapointing, he hasnt peformed to expectation.

Raph's season was interrupted by injury. He is a player who seems to take a while to build up to his best form. Last year he had a sequence of matches near the end of the season and in the finals where he just improved each outing. The harshest critics were quietened. Give him one or two more matches and he will shut the naysayers up. Give him an extended spot in the team and he will begin to surprise us with his flair and skill.

Stats tell half the story, if that. I don't go by them. watch the actual game and notice how lost he is, how mant times he makes simple errors, how many times he puts a team mate under pressure, how many times he drops marks, how many times he leaves it till he last possible moment to make up his mind. he is horrible, horrible horrible horrible. i had some faith at the end of 08 that he had turned the corner, but nope. sam gilbert stepped up in 09, raph didnt. end of story.

you can carry these spuds only for so long.

i am enjoying the wins, and he good times. but this bloke doesnt deserve to be a part of it, esp when goose is busting a gut for nothing. sure, not like for like but goose will clearly free up others as he plays perma-chf.
