We are 3 and 0... where's the optimism. Murphy or not. I wanna watch Thillthorpe, Rankine, Dawson, Soligo and Fogarty tear it up.

I hate gold coast and gws too. Win this we are guaranteed finals. Come on boys!!!
Hate is a strong word.

For me its reserved solely for the Port Power Football Club.

jesus christ, how old is this board? everyone talking about going to schools in the 80s.

FWIW, I can see a little bit of logic in the Murphy selection.

I reckon we wont see him much in F50. I reckon he and Keays/ANB will be tasked with going up to stoppages and cooling Rowell, Anderson and Co. We know Nicks likes to crowd stoppage with an extra and we havent really been doing it so far, but he will this week. Suns get a lot of scores from turnover but also a lot from stoppage (#1 in the league) so I reckon thats why we have picked Murphy who is pretty decent at stoppage.

We will need to be careful of Collins who tends to get high up for contests on wing/half back. I suspect he will be on RT and I wouldnt mind betting we use Fog a lot higher this week with RT deeper.

That's my 2 cents

(PS Im not saying it's good, Im just trying to work out the logic in the selection)

We've had to push an extra up to stoppages previously because our midfield has been so poor.

Now that we have a stronger group hopefully we won't need to do this.

The commentators last night spoke about how important it was to retain a 6-6-6 structure against teams like Geelong. You don't beat them if Stewart or Blicavs are allowed freedom behind the ball, and it's similar against any good team.

It's been a survival tactic in the past, borne out of necessity. Hopefully we're beyond it and aiming higher.

Depends which way you look at it. Geelong score more from turnover whereas Suns score a lot from stoppage. As you say, you dont get a lot of benefit from clogging stoppage against the Cats because they just sit behind the ball. But the Suns are a forward running team and benefit from breaking from stoppage.

We could go one on one with them and maybe we will, but I dont see it as a bad option to put pressure on their main scoring source. Horses for courses. Melbourne turned them over quite a bit when they were successful in pressuring clearance, they just couldn't convert the turnovers. We have far more fire power if we can turn them around.

Did the Suns score a lot from stoppage last year?

It's no surprise this would be a big score source in 2025 when you've only played West Coast and Melbourne

It'll be Draper on and rotate smalls through the fwd line. I actually thought Sholl had a quiet game compared to last week. Seems to struggle with consistency, and definitely had issues with the physicality of the game yesterday. I'd have no issues with Sholl making way for Nank, who is taller and would suit a bit better against a faily tall/physical GC team. If Tex doesn't make the trip then for me it's an easy one with Rachele/Tex out and Draper/Nank in, Pedlar to sub.

Called it. Sholl really struggling to impact games and his stats against GC were putrid.

It should be:
Out: Murphy, Sholl
In: Crouch, Nank

I'm sorry but Draper is already miles ahead of Murphy in terms of small forward option, Draper scored two in a half of footy

Move Sholl to the sub.

If Draper needs a rest (I highly doubt he does, as he only played 60% game time against GC) the definitely Taylor coming in
