Preview R4: Changes vs. Gold Coast Suns (Match of the Round!!!)

Honestly can see the Gold Coast midfield running on top of us. Then we go into Geelong all banged up and do something stupid against Stewart and get stage fright. 3-2 and back in the pack. Our scoring dries up as we revert to the 2024 gameplan. Murphy stays in the side for pretty much the whole year. Smith comes back in. Laird returns to the midfield for large portions. We scrape into finals purely because of an easy draw (wins against West Coast, Richmond, etc) and percentage from our first 3 weeks. Nicks get extended before the first final. We get exposed in the final.

That's the beauty of it, we've only played 1 official SANFL game. Left Dowling out to be emergency as next man up, put Murphy in the guts against pushovers, then pointed to SANFL form as the reason to select Murphy over the guy who just last week was next man up.

If only Nicksy's game day tactics were as astute as his tactics to get Murph in the side.

How Nicks got Murphy into the side was the same as going to the bowling alley, putting up the bumpers and using a ramp

There was a press conference at some point where he mentioned getting certain things wrong last year with how we wanted to play, it may not have been point blank confession that you are looking for, though coaches dont really go into depth on these things in general given it involves game style & it's a highly competitive competition.

Then you see the reports from Big Man all preseason commenting how our focus had switched from defensive to play on, rapid ball movement, changing angles etc.

It's pretty obvious watching us he's made significant changes & taken us a little bit closer to the 2023 version of Crows. I'm not saying even that I'm fan, just that people should be more objective & better than hating on everything, whilst never acknowledging something positive that's working or worked.

Not arguing at all that we have changed our game plan . I agree with you. I just think he could be more transparent about it and own the learning . He’s very disingenuous at times

Rowe in the interview asked about Pedlar, Kelly said that Pedlar was in the discussion, as was Brodie Smith(???), but that they're all just so super impressed by what Murphy is doing that they couldn't leave him out.

You obviously didn't watch the SANFL last week, Pedlar's disposal especially by foot was diabolical, not to mention he looked to cramp as well. His lack of composure is becoming a real worry, it's OK to approach everything like a bull at at a gate but once in possession ffs use it with at least a modicum of composure. 7 kicks 10 handballs @ 41% DE

No way should that type of performance against West (witches hats) put a player up for AFL selection.

Unfortunately, I have a sure feeling we're going to lose this game. It has all the hallmarks - we have to travel, we're playing a decent side, we've beaten up on some mediocre sides prior, we have a few injuries and lucklustre replacements. Just can't see it happening any other way. I'd love to be proven wrong but I'm forecasting a competitive 20-25 point loss.
