I hate it when they send these things. I don't know whether it comes down from being forced to sell raffle tickets for your primary school, but it irritates me.

I know it shouldn't, but it does.

I don't mind selling them, just think it's sad that the only time the club ever contact us is when they want our money.

Don't mean to be contrary, but I think with the advent of email/Internet there is less need for mailouts. You can sign up for Geemail which is now the club's preferred form of communication (with the WAG mag).

Keep in mind it costs them $6,000 in postage for them to send a single letter to all members, what would they need to communicate with us about anyway?

On topic, I agree that being asked to sell raffle tickets is a bit rich. Will always buy a couple myself week before closing date. They have a three month window, I know my tickets sit on top of the fridge until the week before.

I wouldn't mind getting my WAG mag for starters.

Got a call from the club last month wanting us to buy a $300 raffle ticket

I got a WAG mag in the mail today.

Interesting piece on the 1999 draft:

Joel Corey- 92 games
Paul Chapman- 87 games
Cameron Ling- 102 games
Corey Enright- 76 games.

As well as Koula and Haynes we have done really well from that year.

Unless they get a discounted price I think you will find it is more around the $15,000 mark for mail-outs. 30,700 members at .50c each letter is just over $15,000! That is just for this mail out, then there are 4 WAG Mags a year which would be about $1-1.50 each, so there is another $30-45,000 each WAG Mag over a year is over $100,000 in delivering WAG Mags! I would say postage for the club would be in excess of $400,000 per year!

Looking at that I am quite happy with the club only contacting us a few times a year!

I personally dont have a problem with selling raffle tickets, it is a MASSIVE revenue raiser for the club, and without it we wouldnt be in such a strong financial position as we currently are!

Hope I receive my WAG Mag in the mail today...look out for some articles written by BigFooty regular 'catattack'

The WAG mag is good value, in-depth profiles of players, interviews etc. Although if I have to read about the apple hitting Doug Wade's shot for goal in the last round of the 1971 season again.....

The 1999 draft write-up was good, interesting that the early picks (Bray, Spriggs, Foster) @ 15,17,23 are no longer with us (Corey was #8), compared with Ling @ 38, Enright at 47.

Goes to show as good as we have been we could have been worse off or a lot better off.

Some of the players that could have been taken instead of Bray,Spriggs and Foster

Brad Green at 19
Cain Ackland at 27
Daniel Giansiracusa at 32
Linsdsay Gilbee at 43
Ryan Hargraves at 66

Then again we have
Koulouriotis picked at 12 and Haynes picked at 16 now at our club so one cant complain to much about 99.

Have to say though the Pick of the Draft was F/S J.Brown to Brisbane at 30.Has there ever been a more dominant F/S pick up?

Only three are produced.

Pre season, mid-season, and annual report edition.

For those who don’t receive theirs, email the club and one will be mailed out.

Also, bare in mind this. Only one mag per household is sent out, so for example, two members living in one address will only receive one magazine between them.
