We also had the IT 'help' sessions in the computer labs during lunch where all everyone did was play Minecraft on a LAN server
I forgot about Minecraft. Downloaded a copy off pirate bay because I’m cheap and used hacks to build myself a stadium and a tower that went all the way to the top. We couldn’t download the actual thing onto our school laptops.

teacher's proxy

that reminds me, same nerdy bloke from my previous post came up with the ultimate scam. Built a website that acted as a proxy server to bypass all the "restricted site" access we had on school computers, made it with a popup that looked like you had to put your school internet username and password into. Turns out it was just an empty field and students were giving him their credentials en masse. He pretty much had unlimited amount of internet money through access to everyone's account (yes this was a time where we actually had a tiny tiny quota on internet access).

Hahah that’s hilarious and very cunning. I remember we used to go through our allotted monthly usage like it was nothing. From memory it was like 200MB or something ridiculous like that.

The day we found out how to bypass the filter was amazing - turned out putting a https at the start of any site that was SSL enabled worked. Hello YouTube

In primary school we found a search engine that didn't have any block on image searching so we could look at boobies. In high school I remember having a list of proxy sites, you could use one for a couple of weeks before IT cottoned onto it.
I was one of like 3 kids in primary school who sat out RE and just sat about colouring in shit and drawing. My parents weren't particularly anti religious so I have no idea why I didn't have to do it. Shit was boring as hell though glad I didn't have to learn about that God shit.

The Jewish kids had their own separate RE too iirc.
I sat out most years, but asked to go back in for grade 5 and 6 because we got this old whacko (sort of guy you see before the royal commission) and we got a laugh out of him
Did you have the workbooks where you could rub the pictures out with an eraser? Every kid in our class had to have their book checked at the end of RE, but not to make sure they were actually doing work, but just to check that they didn't edit any of the images in there to include the devil or big penises which are very funny when you are 10 years old.
Nah no workbooks, it was seriously just stories and singing. We made all of the songs dirty though.

Good lord the old internet quota. Introduced it around 2013 and was initially 100MB a day (which is **** all), increased to 500MB a day (which was hit & miss on running out before the day ended), removed it because it was messing up the cloud system we all had to save our work to, then got reintroduced because someone downloaded a boatload of movies & shit.

I completed Year 12 last year, I studied English, legal studies, P.E, Viscom and Woodwork design.
So many good memories at school, used to get all the boys on a massive year level Halo game during dedicated year 10 study blocks. Delicious.

Break times consisted of footy and cricket games against other year levels which always resulted in melee's.

My time at school will never be forgotten.

I have now gone on to Uni studying design.

Year 12 subjects: Advanced English, Standard Maths, Ancient History, History Extension (Shouldn't have done this), Physics, and Legal Studies.

Fun High School fact: When I started the library had only 1 computer that had internet access with a 56k modem attached which you had to book and only 5 computers total. By the time I finished there were around 30 computers all with internet.

Biggest games played on computers: Ski or Die, GTA 1 and 2 (may have been others but I cannot remember them).

Computer class fun fact: Most class work was done in DOS, mostly played a game called Gorillas which was a basic version of Worms where you had to set power and angle for throwing an exploding banana trying to hit your opponent while dodging buildings. The best part of the game was that the in game settings could be messed with so you could change the explosion size, speed and many other factors which led to hours of being stupid.

Year I graduated: Too long ago to mention, but above info should give some idea.

The year before I started highschool my high school required students to pay to use their internet (which is so bloody stupid). One of the smarter blokes realised you could just use another browser off a USB to bypass it.

For my first two years we had Google blocked so majority of us just used Yahoo. Dark times.

Google was blocked at my primary school, so strange. They wanted the kids to use the special government/school search engine. I remember using Ask Jeeves instead.

Was exactly the same at mine, we had a School Intranet. Bloke that set it up was a big Freo supporter so whenever you were directed to the Intranet homepage in the address bar the message of "Powered by Freo Way to Go!!" was displayed.

Did anyone else play Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego in primary school?
Reader rabbit and Kid Pix for me
Though while in primary, a family friend gave us their old Macintosh and it had WITWICS and a maze game where a penguin would pop up if you made it to the end. Still remember those beeps and that typewriter. Few years later my parents threw the Mac out for being "too old" plus the keyboard went to s**t
Could've made $300+ if it stayed :'(

Oh man, I forgot Kid Pix existed

We played a hell of a lot of Icy Tower in late primary school. If anyone has the OS X version of it I'll pay them for a copy, have spent many an exam period searching for the file but it seems to have been wiped from the internet.

Ah, bringing back so many memories. I remember Kid Pix.
Google was also blocked at my primary school for a few weeks, until they realised no one could do anything. This meant a lot of time on virtualbartender :D.
In Yr9, we had a 8 week camp where we lived in groups in houses in a small country town. This meant our laptops came with us. We used to binge through South Park and it was the best for LAN games. Had I known about other streaming sites, Netflix, etc. (or if they had been popular) I would have not left the house.
In Yr11 and 12, we go into empty class rooms during spares and watch tv on the projector. And in maths class late on a Friday during the summer, I would sit my laptop up second row from the back and let the back row watch the cricket through a stream.
As for lunchtime games, downball was lit :fire:. Played all through primary and secondary school. In Yr12, we’d play against this wall that was about three metres in length, and it would have a bunch of steps bee hind us, and to the left which made playing from behind tough. We also got access to the indoor basketball courts a couple of times a week where we’d play 5 on 5 futsal. Winner stays on.
