I'm going for the Giants as well, not a fan of Tom Brady and the Patriots.

There's alot of hate going on for the pats right now.

I'm yet to choose a specific team to follow in the nfl ATM.
And am yet to make my decision on a winner tommorow.
I think my head is saying pats. But my hearts saying giants.
Eli vs Tom.

I just hope it doesn't come down to a final kick or end up being 10-11

Wanna see a great game.

I will be hiding my phone behind my calculator in maths tomorrow to keep up to the second on every play. Also going to try and wear my Patriots jersey during class.

I'll just use my phone ad a calculator :D:D:D:D

As long as you have on the Sensory Deprivator 5000, you will be golden.

If only it was that simple. No we have to use this behemoth.

The superbowl is a amazing game and all that comes with it!
My 1st ever superbowl was back in 2006 when devon hestor scored after about 2 mins 4 chicago bears. They went on to loose. The game starts at 10:30 will still be expecting it to be on at 3:00 The game seems to never end

Im tipping giants.

Back in 2005 i choose to support green bay. After hearing the population of there town 150,000 to have such a huge club in such a small population is amazing!

I hope everyone enjoys the game!

I didn't watch the pro bowl. Work hours were front to back this week. And forgot to record.

I won't go for cardinals:D

My problem is I gave a spiel earlier in this thread or last random thread that you should have an affiliation to a team. That said, I'm slowly cutting out the teams I will say no too.

I too don't have an NFL side set in stone... however this past leadup fortnight to the big one has me warming to NYG in a big way. Looking forward to catching up with some mates tomorrow, on delay of course, and some American delicacies - ok, Maccas :p

I assume there would be some interest here in the uniforms that will be worn in the big one - we know that both teams have a near identical colour palette, and of course only one team will luck out and get their home kit. However, that 'luck' may not be the case this time...
'Home' delegation for these neutral games is alternated between AFC and NFC each year, and even years belong to AFC. Four years ago the Pats and Giants fought out XLII, New York prevailing dramatically. New England again have the honour of choosing which uniform they wear this time around and - although many suspected they would pick their alternate white kit to change the fortunes of 2008 - again the Patriots will wear navy (as confirmed on Twitter earlier in the week).

My only bugbear with the Giants (love the logo, history, home strip) is their white road uniform - it's probably an OCD thing, but the inconsistency in the shirt and leggings stripe motifs don't do much for me! I know the jerseys are based on a historical period (50's?), but surely it could be paired better than with adidas-French-football-team-like strides.
Yep, I have a problem :o

Happy Superbowl day everyone!

Thing is I don't wanna be picking a team that's the flavor of the month.
I had an idea to pick the teams in respective leagues who won the championship in the season I was born. (in USA sports not Australian) as that's a fair and equitable way of deciding. Coincidentally that's the new York giants and the new York mets in MLB. Mets I can handle as I like the blue and orange uniform.

But that's just me rambling at 2am on a night I shoulda been in bed 2 hours ago.

I picked my NFL team like this:

I knew nothing about anybody, so to pick a team, I decided to watch a random game and support who won. That game was half way through last season, Colts v (still can't figure it out). Early on Colts fell behind, started going for them to catch up, at half time they were still behind and I was ****ed so I went to bed and decided to support Colts as I'd been cheering for them. Found out from a mate they were good (this is 2010 remember) and managed to watch one more of there games that season (which we lost in OT). Then this season started watching every game. So that means the first 15 full Colts games I watched, we went 0-15, and guess what the first game this year i didn't watch at least partly live was. Yep.

That is EXACTLY how I picked the cardinals about a year and a half ago

Wish I'd thought of that before :) Anyway if I were to follow that...

NFL: Oakland Raiders win Superbowl XI :thumbsu:
MLB: New York Yankees win World Series :thumbsd:
NBA: Portland Trailblazers ~~
NHL: Montreal Canadiens win Stanley Cup :thumbsu:

Aaaand...
EPL: Liverpool :thumbsd:
FA Cup: Man United :thumbsd:

Year of my birth also saw:
Drawn VFL Grand Final
Brownlow vote record of 59 by Graham Teasdale - both umpires gave separate votes
Drawn NSWRL Grand Final
Centenary Test match
Beginning of World Series Cricket
Two Australian Open tennis tournaments (January and December)

Melbourne Cup was won by a horse called Gold And Black. Sounds very close to a great colour scheme to me :)

I support to NY Jets only because that was the team Benny Graham played for at the time and I have stuck with them since.

And who's everyone going for in the Superbowl ?? Pats for me !

The birth year sounds like a reasonable way to find a team. If I used it, I'd be 'made' to go for:

NFL: San Francisco 49ers
NBA: Houston Rockets
NHL: New York Rangers
MLB: Player strike toward the season's end. No champion.

For the Baseball, the Yankees won the American League, Montreal Expos the National League. Considering the latter now not exists, and George Costanza worked at the Yankees. Although I've never been there, New York seems utterly unreal. So that's an added bonus. Although I believe the Yankees are like the Man United / Real Madrid of baseball?

For me it would be:

NBA: Chicago Bulls
NHL: Montreal Canadiens
NFL: Dallas Cowboys
MLB: Toronto Blue Jays
EPL: Man U
AFL: Essendon

It was a good year for Canada in the Big 4 leagues that year.

Ok, here are what mine would have been (actual team supported)

NFL: Los Angeles Raiders (Green Bay Packers)
NHL: Edmonton Oilers (Anaheim Ducks/Buffalo Sabres)
MLB: Detroit Tigers (New York Yankees)
NBA: Boston Celtics (Los Angeles Lakers)

EPL {English First Division}: Liverpool (Arsenal)
SPL {Scottish Premier Division}: Aberdeen (Rangers FC)

NRL {NSWRL}: Canterbury Bulldogs (Wests Tigers {Western Suburbs Magpies})
AFL {VFL}: Essendon (Team did not exist in current form, so would not have had a team [Sydney])

Defunct:
NSL: South Melbourne (Sydney Olympic)

I kind of wish I could have a 'third' sport, but I just can't enjoy one enough to get into it. Though I called myself a Maple Leaf fan for a while.

for me it would be:

NFL: Dallas Cowboys - Arizona Cardinals
NBA: Chicago Bulls - New York Knicks
NHL: Colorado Avalanche - New York Rangers
MLB: Atlanta Braves - New York Yankees
AFL: North Melbourne Hawthorn Hawks

While I enjoy watching the American sports (bar ice hockey), I can't bring myself to say I support one because I have absolutely no real connection to any of the teams. To just start barracking without a reason wouldn't be me.

If I went by birth year....

NFL: San Fransisco 49ers
NBA: Houston Rockets
MLB: Atlanta Braves
EPL: Blackburn Rovers (support Tottenham out of obligation because they're Dad's team and have been since he lived in London's north throughout the 80s, and I can't be bothered to choose my own for reasons above, only bring it up when they beat mates' teams, but I do watch all their games)
A League: Didn't Exist (Wellington Phoenix. Wellington's my favourite city in NZ after of course Christchurch, and the Phoenix were just really a rebirth of the NZ Knights club who'd kicked the bucket)
NRL: Canterbury-Bankstown (Auckland Warriors. Member and family donates a fair amount of money to the club. 2001 season got me on board as a 6 year old and they made the finals the in '02, and '03, so I wasn't gonna jump off the bandwagon in a hurry :p)
AFL: Carlton (eeewww **** no! The story supposedly is my cousin (more like an elder brother, so when we were little I'd copy him :o) told me he'd bash me if I didn't support the Bombers when we were really little, and the rest is history ;)).
Super Rugby: Didn't exist (Canterbury Crusaders, growing up in Christchurch there wasn't exactly a range of other sports to follow. While I don't care for rugby union as much as I did as an 8 year old, I'm still happy to get along to Eden Park when they play Auckland and stir up the 10 Blues supporters there with other mates who have fled the natural extremes (earthquakes, 40 degree summers and -10 degree winters) of the mainland).

My "birth year" teams are the same as Aidan's so no need to write them all again.

I really only have two teams that I support really closely, Collingwood and City. I take interest in the Victory and Cavs but won't watch every game unlike my main two. I call myself a Storm supporter but I couldn't tell you five players.
