Scott Thompson is one of the most underrated players in the competition. Consistently performs for the Crows week in, week out. But because he doesn't play for a Victorian club (or hasn't before, in the case of GAJ) he doesn't receive the recognition he deserves. The same goes for Matthew Pavlich and Nat Fyfe imo.

Priddis is also very underrated, he isn't a flashy player but he does a good job every week.

Bryce Gibbs isn't too far away either. I think that groin injury really set Judd's speed back and that hurt him.
And I agree with Willo. Murphy I believe has jumped Judd, but Judd has more experience, and is more professional on the field

Gibbs is nowhere near Murphy and Judd IMO.

While we're on the topic of elite AFL footballers, Matthew Boyd is one of my (if not my) favourite player in the league. His 3rd qtr vs Adelaide on the weekend was incredible.

Pendles, Ablett Jr, Boyd, Judd and Hodge are my top 5 (no particluar order)

Sorry I was away last night guys, I'm sure you all missed me...

BENNY! PULL YOUR HEAD IN! RIOLI, SELWOOD, BARTEL BETTER THAN ABLETT???!!!

Anyway, since we're on this topic, here's my top 20 (Midfielders):

1. Ablett
2. Pendlebury
3. Boyd
4. Judd
5. Hodge
6. Thompson
7. Mitchell
8. Bartel
9. J.Selwood
10. Swan
11. Murphy
12. Dal Santo
13. Montagna
14. Watson
15. Priddis
16. Thomas
17. Griffen
18. Rockliff
19. Black
20. Ball

Probably forgot one or two. I didn't include Kerr by the way, as it is based on their current stage of their career. 5 years ago, Kerr would of been on top.

2. Pendlebury
3. Judd
4. Murphy

6. Thompson
7. Bartel
8. Hodge
9. Chapman
10. Kerr (Also deserves more recognition).

Special mention to Boyd, who like Thompson, is one of hose guys the consistently performs at a very high level and every now and then has a HUGE game.

Agree with Boyd and Thompson. Boyd has always been one of my favourite non Hawthorn players. I would also like to throw Sam Mitchell's name up there. Consistently underrated. Our best player of the last ten years and one of the best mids in the comp IMO.

Definitely, although I think Mitchells best years were a couple of years ago.

Strongly disagree. Last year was easily his best year. And his first half against Geelong yesterday, wow. But I understand we're you're coming from, he had some pretty good years around '06-'08.

You are all seriously underestimating Simon Black, he was and still is a premium midfielder. I still think he has a few years left in him as well. Not sure but I don't think he has any serious injuries over his career. (someone can check if they want)

And can someone please tell me how many times Scarlett has been reported in his career?

My top mids would be:

1.Ablett
2.Pendles
3.Boyd
4.Murphy
5.Mitchell
6.Judd
7.Bartel
8.Swan

10.Selwood

Lacks Black.

After about 4 years of it, BT actually picked up on the J. Selwood ducking crap.

I thought I was the only one that noticed that every time he went to a contest he would duck his head or 'raise his shoulders' so that the tacklers arms would slip around his neck. I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't playing football in 3 years because he's going to do some serious damage to his head and neck.

Black is a star no doubt, but I don't think he'd be quite up with those ten anymore. He would definitely be in my top 15.

I don't like him that much, but you can't deny that Selwood is a great midfielder, that ducking crap doesn't detract from that.

I doubt any current AFL superstars refused to go on school camps, in fact, I'd say that they love doing things like that.

Thanks WCE :) Who was the first? Is the Doggies rookie (Lin Jong) second?

Yeah guys as I said Rioli probably shouldn't be on that list. And anyways you guys should be thanking me, I have started a 3+ page conversation about FOOTBALL. Not Basketball for once, but dont get me wrong I like basketball :thumbsu:
