Raph Clarke getting caught

fisher definitely lead rooke to him. rooke was just following fisher about 1m behind to stop the handball receive then at the last second pounced. fisher is partly to blame

OMFG - of course Fisher led Rooke. Gary Ablett has never had a handball receive with his opponent in pursuit?

1m? You don't sell real estate do you? I'd like a 1 acre property but only want to pay for 300m2. You sound like the person to sell me one.

There is no way the St Kilda coaches would tell Fisher to do anything different - other than yell at Raph a bit louder.

Or pull out a gun and shoot Raph before Rook got to him.

Why do people get stuck into Raph, when other players like BJ, Hayes and Fisher all make mistakes as well? Because when they are not making mistakes these guys are doing things that can win us the game. It should not be considered a major achievement to get the ball and dispose of it without handing it to the opposition.

They aren't given shit cos it's rare. Raph stuffs up on far more occasions, so when he stuffs up again, the rage increases.

You goose.

We would have caught Geelong players at least 6 times in the GF being run down with the ball.

Andrew McQualter has made a career out of it.

Who is Fisher shepherding???

Raph had not cleared the man on the mark - you want Fish to shepherd Rooke out so Raph can take the man on the mark on?

Can't believe that posters don't understand that all coaches want their players to provide the handball option round the back to create some run - not for a player to run 25-30m to shepherd their own man out!!!

Would it also have been to much for his teammates up the field to provide an option? We're about 3 mins into the game. Surely the bous have got some run!

Raph only played on as he was trying to make something happen and even when he took off, the shot down the ground will show he still didn't have much to go to.

I understand that Raph is often trying to create the play, and it is not as if he doesn't have good points (as stated before I can't really remember him being outmarked in any game).

But Raph either gives to Fish who was also trying to create, or doesn't play on. He had options and forfeited one of them by playing on without having a clear target down field.

With Blake, Dawson, Gilbo and Fish down back I have always found it odd that we would also put Raph in defence - the likelihood of him having an unsuitable match-up with a small increases considerably.

I got a little untidy on this thread due to some trying to cast a portion of blame to Fish - a bigger crock I have not heard.

If you had to choose one player to come out of the team, from Gilbert, Fisher, Dawson, Baker, Blake, and Clarke. Would anyone not choose Clarke.
He should be a fringe player in the 22, but we have to keep playing him each week or he loses his mojo. Then we have the likes of Hudghton and Ball on the zero tolerance no free rides wagon.
