Have just had a look at the Doggies game, and although Raph didn't have a high number of possessions I thought he was in the kind of form he displayed in last year's finals series. Confident, dashing and untouchable.

I only listened to the Sydney game on the radio but the votes thread suggests he was thereabouts. Great signs.

Would of thought that his performance against the Swans would have drawn more praise than some of the previous (only serviceable in this team) games.

I guess a Saturday night game on Pox Footy makes it a little harder for people to watch the whole game.

Chyeah, I was gonna make a topic about him on SS, but cbf.

Was gonna call it 'RAPH'.

Then everyone would think Im gonna say he should be dropped and get ready to flame me.

Then I'd be like 'how good is he?'

Yeah shoulda done that.

From what I heard on the radio he sounded like he did a good job, lifted in Gilbert's absence.
Notched up 78 dream team points in a game that was far from smooth sailing ( 7th highest of all the Saints last week ) so we can't say he was a downhill player.
This week is his big test - can he help lift our depleted side?

How good was Raph today. Back to his best attacking the ball hard and running off half back, it was so enjoyable to watch him play.
Shnider was amazing AGAIN! BOG easy. And McEvoy....wow!:)

Where is everyone? That is the sort of game that I'd like to see more of - much better than some of the games Raphy's been getting praise for. Some of the spoils and tackles were flint hard :thumbsu:

For mine, the play in the final qtr where he intercepted a pass, ran on and passed to Jimmy Gwilt, received a handball back and delivered it lace out into our 50 onto Milney's chest? OUTSTANDING. Raph stood up yesterday and even his knockers would have a horrible time trying to fault him on yesterday's effort.

couldnt agree more. the confidence this guy gets the better he is playing. watch out for him in finals time!!!

on another note how good was stevens!

Gotta have faith. I've always been a big Raphael fan.:thumbsu:

BIG Mac was sensational, really starting to get his confidence up. Scary to think a second year ruckman so young is forcing his way into an undefeated side coming into finals. 10 weeks ago he was just a back up.

His marking and tackling is awesome.

I thought Raph was teriffic, really lifted to fill the void left by Fisher and Gilbert.

I'm still a bit out of sorts with the 8 game warm up though. He came off a good season last year, did the pre-season and played round 1 where he did his hammy.
After a few weeks he came back through the VFL and now after 8 warmup games has hit his straps. If it is a confidence thing he needs Mr T to come and blast some snickers at him and just get over it.
Lenny Hayes has had his share of injuries , but he is capable of coming back, no VFL bullshit and hit the ground running.

i still kinda want him out of the team... just have armo/dempster/jimmy ahead of him fighting for the last few spots

Raph's a project player obviously.

He played a damn good game against Hawthorn. Even if he evolved into a superstar he'll still have his mandatory 1-2 clangers a game.

Play him I reckon.

I'd rather he plays than be an emergency, due to the above mentioned warm up period. A great emergency is Armitage, 1st game in and BLAM.
Yeah, i know...

I just still think I can find at least 22 guys i want in the side ahead of him

And as a pure back 6

Zac Max Baker
Gram Fisher Gilbert

Then blake as well when Gram move up, then Ray

I have him at 9th best defender... he is a similar role to Fish/Gilbo/Gram and they are all much better. (the tall/small rebounding defender)

I like how him game as improved, don't get me wrong. But I don't like how he is kinda 'blackmailing' the club into keeping him in the team because he needs 4 weeks to warm up, and needs the continous games to be confident, and if dropped, will need time to warm back up in seniors? Anyone agree with that

He is unable to go from seniors, to being dropped for a week or two, to coming back and impacting straight away. That's my main beef with him, you can't rely on him to come straight into the team and be ready. As I said, it's like he's blackmailing the MC into keeping him in the 22, because once he's out, he's no good to you for 5 weeks.
