Rate a Player: Darren Bewick

Was one of my favourite players at the Bombers, loved watching him play.

What do others think of him.

Good old Boris, he could play. And he was great to watch too.

Like Brett Heady for the eagles, this bastard always found time to swing the game back to Essendon's favour.

Despite my best voodoo attempt's, his legs never fell off in the middle of a game.

I remember his come back game wher upon returning from injury he kicked a lazy 8. I think it was against the cats in that herritage match.

Hated him. Wish he had played for the Swans.

Absoulute Gun who was a genuine excitement machine. Legend in my books

fast and cheeky for a little fat red headed man. Could kick a great sneaky goal and pop up at just the right moments to turn a game.

His 93 Prelim is under rated as well. Kicked 6 that day including a ripper from the boundry.

His 9 goals in the centenary game was unbelievable considering it was his first game in the seniors for 12 months.

Hated his red guts!!! Could play though.... had one of those heads that made you want to belt him with a shovel.... repeatedly.

Loved him so much, but god you'd hate him if he played for another team. He was just so good at what he did.

We missed him too, post-2000, was playing a similar role to Riccardi's impact off-the-bench thing by then but we still missed him.

One of my favorite non Doggies players. Terrific skills, loved a goal and slightly tubbier than Derek Kickett.... hopefully not these days though! Highly rate the little rooster pubes man!

I remeber once he kicked a near impossible goal at the SCG from the pocket, I loved the way he played.

Never liked him, he knew where to go to get the ball and what to do with it once he got it. Also new how to get a free kick to.

I'm glad he's at the Roo's teaching them the tricks of the trade.

Me too, remember it like it was yesterday, I was only 9 at the time, but could never forget when he got the ball on the boundary line, danced around a geelong player, then snapped it through 35 metres out, off balanced.

It was 9, can't underplay Boris now, definitely one of my favourite games, Hirdy polled 2 votes towards his Brownlow that night aswell, what a night.

My favourite player ever.

If he ever missed a shot at goal, no matter where he was kicking it from, you'd be in shock. Probably the best all round (on the run, snap, set shot, off the ground) kick for goal i've ever seen. Under pressure too it didn't bother him.

Very underrated for what he could do in the midfield too. He's exactly what the current coaches want their players like Didak/Davey/Lovett/N. Davis etc to be - goalkicker and midfield spark.

I'll never forgot his salute and smile in the '93 Grand Final when he kicked that trademark snap.

A Bewick goal on the run was one of lifes pleasures, especially in a tight game. He`d come from no-where to take an injured players kick. Class footballer , went out the best way possible, with a flag.

This is true. The worst person to score a goal against you, you just wanted to run out and smash him......but yes, he sure could play.
Thought Moorcroft was going to follow his lead, but apparantly not.

Glad he is with us now, the hatred has gone now Boris.
