MMM... Post might end up getting the flick. I want grimes in if he shows he is firing. Definately be picking Stevens. Might swap Morabito for another rookie who shows form in NAB. I'm warming to sidebottom. Might swap cloke for Buddy if i can find the $$$ to not be so Collingwood heavy. If Delideo shows he is over the hammy i'll get im in for Shaw and then consider Marty clarke. Definately picking the big Berger. Sandi is a maybe. As a WCE fan i normally have Cox but I expect Nic Nat to take more game time off him and they might manage Cox morely closely with Lycett coming through (massive wraps from Woosh) so you might see big Dean rested for a few games.

Thanks for the input!

rucks are a little tough hey. i have the berger as well. that leaves sandi and mumfs who both have injury risks and then you have cox and goldstein who could potentially have their scoring cut by nic nat and mcintosh. bit of a flip of a coin in terms of who to pick

And whoever picks right will have a big advantage. If Scott doesn't pick McIntosh to play in ROund 1 then Goldstein might be the way to go. Mumford is injury prone despite having the ability to post big scores...At least Sandi has put together a couple of full high scoring seasons and Lyon might have him fit and firing. McEvoy might be an option as he has little competition and started clunking those contested marks.

The SA lead rucks in Jacobs and whatshisface from Port might be sneaky second ruck choices.

I think if Sandi is fit for round 1 you go with him though...if he goes down then bite the bullet and trade

Hi all, this is my preliminary team subject to the NAB Cup. I’d love to hear some thoughts on it.
My initial thoughts are I need a second Premium Ruck and one less Premium Midfielder (im counting Barlow as a priemium)
I have $294500 in the bank so im probably at the point that the mentioned change is possible.
DEFENDERS
B.Goddard, B Deledio, C Enright, G Broughton, M Clarke, T Moyr, B Smedts, T Bugg, W Sierakowski
MIDFIELDERS
G Ablett, J Selwood, B Gibbs, L Montagna, M Barlow, D Shiel, T Mitchell,
T Couch
RUCKS
N Naitanui, J Giles, T Derickx, O Stephensen
FORWARDS
L Franklin, A Goodes, D Martin, S Sidebottom, J Porplyzia, D Pfeiffer, C Hampton, D Zorko, A Treloar

Need to get more DPP into the side they can make or break your season by saving you trades.

I'm flirting with the idea of trying something a bit out there this year, high risk, hopefully high reward. Am happy to rate some teams but I doubt i'll be much help.

B: B.Goddard, H.Scotland, B.Deledio, H.Shaw, C.Enright, B.Lake, M.Clarke (B. Ellis, B. Wilkes.
C: M. Barlow, L.Hayes, C.Wingard, C.Bartlett, D.Shiel. J.McDonald (S.Ross, T.Mitchell)
R: M.Leuenberger, O.Stephenson (J.Giles, S.Rowe)
F: L. Franklin, A.Goodes, M.Pavlich, P.Chapman, D.Martin, N.Riewoldt, J.Brown (D.Zorko,B.Smedts)

Obviously, i'm not sure will be enough viable, starting rookies in the mids and that there is a cloud over zorko and rowe. But it might be worth a shot, also aware of a shortage of usable MPP partnerships.

My rucks were originally Mumford & Leuenberger. Now, I'm leaning toward Berger & McEvoy. Both reliable and looking like they are going to be the dominate rucks of 2012.

Just some info about our inter club match for anyone looking at any of the Brisbane players

Leuy had a shocker in our inter club match, But I'm sure we will see him back at his best in the NAB. Green, Beams Harwood, Raines, O'brien and Bewick did pretty good from what I'm hearing. Daniel Rich has a stress reaction in the same foot but should be good for the NAB Cup.

Brown played well but Maguire did a pretty good job on him.

NOTE: Docherty, Drummond, Rich and Zorko did not play due to injuries.

B: Goddard, Scotland, Deledio, Enright, Grimes, Clarke, Ellis (L.Brown, Wilkes)

M:
Ablett, Murphy, J.Selwood, Barlow, Shiel, Mitchell (Kavanagh, McDonald)

F: Franklin, Pavlich, Chapman, Riewoldt, Brown, Porplyzia, Treloar (Zorko, Rowe)

R:
Berger, Jiles (Stephensen, Hall)

This is my team so far, any suggestions???

DEFENDERS: Deledio, Duffeild, Coad, Lake, Broughton, Malceski, Docherty (Wilkes, Hunter)

MIDFIELDERS: Ablett, Morabito, Judd, Kelly, Hayes, Winderlich (Wingard, Merrett)

RUCKS: Mumford, Leuenberger (Giles, Stephenson)

FORWARDS: Fyfe, Zaharakis, Brown, Porplyzia, Franklin, Tomlinson, Treloar (Walsh, Dickinson)

Bit risky with a couple coming off serious knee injuries but its a game of chance!!

Feedback appreciated. Gone for versatility hence one or two 'out there' picks

Backs: Goddard, Heath SHaw, G Johncock, Shannon Hurn, Jayden Post , Cam Guthrie, Brandon Ellis SUBS: Lee Spur (freo) Beau Wilkes

Mids: Pendles, Ablett, Judd, Morabito, Koby Stevens (WCE), Dylan Shiel Subs: Zorko L Brown (Adelaide)

Rucks: Sandilands, Luenberger Subs: Giles, Stephenson

Fwds: D Martin, T CLoke, D Zaharakis, S Sidebottom, J Brown, T Hawkins, B Smedts SUbs: T Walsh, S Kerridge (adelaide)
All the bolded players get rid of them. Instead of those 3 backs get Deledio or Newman, Scotland/Enright, Marty Clarke. If you're going to win Supercoach this year Johncock, Hurn and Post won't be in your team at the end, why get them at the start when they're that expensive.

Get rid of Judd for Marc Murphy, will average 5-10+ ppg more.

If you want a Geelong player in your Fwds, I'd take Christensen over Hawkins every day.

Rookies are good!

Your Thoughts?

Dont mind you backs but probably better options than Burgoyne.

Mids are OK but i think there your could dave some cash for 1st year roookies rather than Caddy and Gaff

Rucks need to change. Wouldnt wanna waste two trades on you rucks later ok.

Fwds not bad.

very solid team.

been said before about having grimes and lake.. doubles the risk. will both fire? (hypocritical of me seeing as ive similarly rolled the dice with 2 risky mid pricers)

guns/rooks mids. good choice for guns. rooks will have to wait for nab to see

very strong rucks! but with the question mark over goldstein's role perhaps downgrading to a sandi/berg/mcevoy and pocketing some cash?

great depth in the forward line. potentially 4 or 5 of the top 10 scoring fwds in your initial team.. not bad

any comments on mine would be appreciated! :)

BANK: $275,200

The no.1 tip that has been so successful for me is the money in the bank. There is no point choosing alot of rookies but spending all your cash...obviously by the BYE rounds, players will be upgraded/downgraded and the team will look okay.

Each year it has taken me to league success (my main focus...where you can have a midfield by finals time of Ablett, Swan, Pendlebury, Priddis, Thompson, Judd because the extra cash at the start goes a long way into upgrading those rookies)

With the bye rounds coming into contention in a similar era...MPP aren't going to be such a necessity. Why pick players like Zaharakis, Sidebottom just because they are MPP??? They will be 80-90 players with peak at 110. Go for your genuine forwards like Brown, Riewoldt, Cloke, Pavlich (went Cloke due to balance) who are proven peak players of 140-160 in good games...and will still score a mediocre 70-80 in there worst.

Posted a while ago but didn't get a reply, hopefully this time (with changes)!

Playing a little risky - Grimes, Lake, Barlow, Porplyzia... but i really think they can pay off. The rookies aren't settled as who really knows which will play come Round 1 (Treloar will be put on the ground). Not completely happy with my fwds but the rest i really like.

i'll give a review a go.
DEF: as of yet i havent heard any news regarding lakes form or if there is any role change with the new coach. you might know something i dont here but i'd be watching him in the nab cup. grimes as you know is an injury risk and hasnt put a full season together yet. however given his price and footy ability he should make some cash regardless of whether he's taping on the ice agin this season. apart from that good premiums and rookies

MID: i wouldnt really class barlow as a risk. he's played a fair few games since his injury and had a solid preseason, he's almost guaranteed to make money and possibily end up top 10, he'll be in a lot of teams. i like swallow as a unique choice however if i were you i'd consider starting 4 premiums since it is much easier to find midfield cash cows than any other position. i would then use the money to upgrade one of your risk player, but thst of course is upcto you, for all i know the 5 premiums has paid off for you inthe past

RUCKS: pretty standard combo. i'm doing the same except might have mcevoy instead of kruezer

FWD: all good here except i query fyfe and zaharakis. from what i've heard fyfe hasnt had a solid preseason so you'll need to watch his form in any games he plays before the season starts. for me zahararkis is a risk player in the sense he'll either step up over just average 80-90 but there's a number of players like this so its not a bad risk my any means. as for porplyzia all reports say he's ripping up presason so if he stays fit he'll make money

overall a pretty solid side, imo i'd reduce your risk player count by one or at the very least make sure you keep tags on em so you're pretty sure they'll perform, and if they do you'll be flying ;)

hope this helps in some way mate, i dont rate myself an expert by any means but i have finished top 10,000 for the last two years, not to bad for an englishman!!

what changes do I need to make?

Backs: Buntine - NO MCKernan - NO NO NO. Probably like the MPP option with Smedts but just no. He is terrible

Midfielders: Priddis and Mitchel are DT guns, not SUpercoach guns. I have scoured brisbane's board and see no mention of Dyson having ROund 1 prospects. Same with Gibson from north. MANY better rookies available

Rucks: McIntosh is second banana and not gauranteed a game.

FWDS: At that price Dalhouse needs to turn into a premium and it just isn't going to happen.

There is a bit to work with there though. Keep going

Very nice. Only advice I would say is the Buntine might be a bit pricey for what he offers. You could get the same from a 110-120k rookie.

Also Teloar. If you are sure he starts then go for it. THink there are a couple of better options though.

I had grimes and lake but dropped them both. Might jump on one as an early trade if they show form. Barlow isn't a risk as such but I think he's more of a DTer.

I'm not a Kruezer fan but i've he is fit and No1 ruck then he is a good choice

Hi All,

Thoughts on my team please:

BACKS:
Goddard, Deledio, Scotland, Birchall, Lake, M.Clarke, Mohr, L. Brown, Smedts

MIDS:
Ablett, Swan, M. Murphy, S. Mitchell, Coniglio, Shiel, J. McDonald, Lee

RUCKS:
Goldstein, Gile, Stephensen, Rowe

FWDS:
Franklin, Goodes, Pavlich, Martin, Zorko, Treloar, Tommy Walsh, Devon Smith, Kerridge

Have a lot of GWS rookies, will obviously not have them all by the time the bye rolls around.

Rookie selections are still subject to change, either by threat of non selection or other stand outs in the NAB cup that will play early season games for a cheap price tag.

Also going to keep an eye on Porplyzia and Hayes in the NAB cup, Lenny was a fav of mine always so would love to see him back to his best, Porplyzia has burnt a lot of people in SC so will be treading very carefully.

Thoughts?

Hi Everyone,

Anyone want to have a look at my first try and see what they think?

Much appreciated if you do.

Cobber.

It is a pretty good team mate, no great surprises.

Maybe keep an eye on Lake, and you could also save some money with downgrading from the more expensive rookies.

Starting a rookie ruck is also a risk but could pay off.

Hi all, any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

Goddard, Deledio, Shaw, Grimes, Sheppard, Clarke, Tomlinson - (Morris/Wilkes)

Pendles, Ablett, Selwood, Barlow, Caddy, Hampton - (Shiel/Mitchell)

Mumford, Kreuzer - Rowe/Stephenson

Buddy, D.Martin, N.Riewoldt, Zaharakis, Porplyzia, Zorko, Treloar - (Smedts/T.Walsh)

$39K in the bank.
