suggestions?

Mine looked a bit like this but I have since left Hurn and Masten for the following reasons (as much as I would like lots of Eagles in my team!!)
Hurn - Great player but I think there are alot of players 50-100k less that will score just as well, eg Ladson
Masten - Similar reason to Hurn but also with so many great rookie prospects in the midfield I ended up going gun/rookie in my midfield and a few more mid price in the fwd's and backs.

My team
Goddard, Enright, H. Shaw, Hodge, Duffield, Kennelly, Ladson
Bench; Waters, Trengove

Bartel, J. Selwood, Mitchell, Anthony, Martin, Banner
Bench; Shuey, Kayler-Thompson

Sandi, Nicnat
Bench; Lobbe, Warnock

Riewoldt, Giansiracusa, Ziebell, Ballantyne, Dangerfield, Salter, Rockliff
Bench; Wonaeamirri, Gumbleton

Players in bold are the ones I am not 100% on and will probably change before Rd. 1. Pretty happy with my back and mids but might try and fit ROK into my fwd line.

Looks like I might have 12 keepers with 3-4 possible others, but in all honesty with the injuries I suffered last year I would be ecstatic with 10 keepers from that lot!!!
Viewing Ladson, Kennelly, Wona and Waters as either late season bench players or cash cows.
$120k left for late changes.

Mez

was looking brilliant until I read the last few forwards, Salter and Rockcliff Ive been watching closely too, but feel they likely be too risky to have starting in your 22 for round 1

Comments please on my hundredth version below:

My team: -

Bench; Webberley, Davies

Bartel, Hayes, Mitchell, Boyd, Barlow, Banner

Harvey, Giansiracusa, Gray, Ziebell, Hall, Stevens, Campbell
Bench; Rockcliff, Podsiadly

Strong forwards but remember buddy will miss round 1, and Im not sure TDL or Rockliff are going to be named in starting squads, so may not provide cover, and you will get donut. Reckon be on same side and put Schneider or someone similarly priced in just for first week, then trade in buddy for round 2

Id go enright and kennelly.

Hille is obviously a risk, but IMO a good one ;) but i dont know if il go him yet or not. Mid is a little short id say, dont think kane cornes is going to have a big year so try upgrade him

Sorry, but why waste a trade so early, when its really not going to get you that much. I would say Rockliff is a big chance to play Round 1, considering his form so far and having a look at the Brisbane board, and he could easily score as high as 60 - 70 points, whereas Schneider could easily score as low as 80 - 90 points. So for one trade you could be netting yourself anywhere between 10 and 100 points, which for me isn't worth it.

You only have 20 trades for the whole season (22 rounds) and planing to waste a trade with a sideways trade so early that could easily net him a very low amount of points, doesn't make sense to me. If he really doesn't have that much faith in his bench, maybe he shouldn't start buddy, but I wouldn't be looking to trade him in at Round 2.

Everyone should listen to this guy :thumbsu:

I agree with this, no point burning a trade so early in the year. At this stage I think one of Rockliff or TDL should get a game in round 1 and cover for buddy.
Can I get your thoughts on the rest of my team?

Yeah i cant see the point of burning a trade early either.

back to your side.
Im personally not a fan of hargrave but that is just me. If your happy with duffield that is good as not many will have him, the rest is fine.

The middle drops off but if you are happy playing 3 rookies then thats your choice.
your short on your rucks but that could be your style, its one style not adopted by many
and your FWD line is strong.

how much cash do you have left? i woulda thought you would a little bit...

I think this will be my final side for now, until the NAB is done and teams come out.
what do people think, should i shuffle anything around with the extra cash i have?

Very good team mate. I cant really see any improvements needed. If anything you may want to have a certain starter in your forward linebecause you can never be too sure about TDL, Rockliff or Pods

Downgrade Hargrave to H.Shaw and Higgins to Medhurst and then upgrade NicNat to Jolly?? Not much cash to spare.. $4900

Thanks for that mate.
I agree with you on the fwd line, just not sure how to get some reliable in there.

Your rucks somewhat worry me. I would look around again closer to Round 1 to ensure your happy with your selections.
Also Playing a Rookie forward I see as a massive risk for two reasons. First Buddy is suspended and secondly none of those 3 are locks for round 1. If one of your other players dont play (ala Buddy rnd1) I see you taking a minimum of a donut. That aside it looks to be a quality side.

Great side, one of the best I've seen on here actually! I'd be downgrading one of Swan / Ablett and upgrading Mayne and possibly even Podsiadly (but I don't know much about him so you could be on a winner there). One of Ablett and Swan is bound to drop in value during the year and you could pick them up then.

Oh and i have $46,800 left over unsure where to spend it,

Very nice attempt, I dont think you need much more assistance. You have seemingly gone for the premium/cheap strategy with not many of those falling in the $300k range. I like your starting 22 though, not overly risky.

If I had to pick an area to continue to look into it would be Hunt/Waters and Swift/Trengove(starting on the field).

Also its a common misconception that having money left over is bad. Infact I think its the opposite. Generally your premium/keepers will fall in price unless they improve 10ppg. If you have a risky option go down injured (ala Hunt, Waters or otherwise) having some coin can sometimes save you a double trade and get you a keeper at a bargain.

Chad is getting old, there are plenty of better choices at his price. Harbrow could be a good pick, I have been considering him.

Strong midfield, no need to change. Hille probably won't start round 1, but Warnock should be able to cover until he's up to it.

Buddy isn't starting round 1, are you sure Pods or Gumbleton will be playing?

My team : Backs- Duffield,Enright,Hodge,Kennelly,Ladson,Hunt,Waters (Davis,Delaney)

Ruck- Sandilands,Tippett (Warnock,Lobbe)

Im well aware how shaky my backline is. But I got r*ped in the backline last year even though my strategy was picking "durable" players.

Other than that any thoughts?
