My team : Backs- Duffield,Enright,Hodge,Kennelly,Ladson,Hunt,Waters (Davis,Delaney)

Mids- Swan,Bartel, J Selwood,Cooney,Mcveigh,Martin (Shuey,Bastinac)

Ruck- Sandilands,Tippett (Warnock,Lobbe)

Fwd- Riewoldt,O Keefe,Pavlich,Gia,Rob Murphy,Mayne,Rockliffe (TDL,Pods)

Im well aware how shaky my backline is. But I got r*ped in the backline last year even though my strategy was picking "durable" players.

Other than that any thoughts?

Youve mentioned your backline. TBH thats a massive risk with the very limited cover available. Also Duffield, do you see value? He had a fantastic year last year and would have been a fantastic pickup however I just dont see the value this year.

Cooney is in the same boat. However I do see a potential to increase his average by 10ppg however I feel its more likely he will continue around his current average. Looking at his prior years he seems to consistently start slow and picks up mid season. For this reason perhaps a better mid year upgrade target? Or has he had interupted preseasons the last couple of years?

Forwardline also another danger area, starting Rockliff is a massive gamble IMO. Bob Murphys durability worries me and with Big Hal in the mix will he get as much? Will he play in the backline? Im just not sure. Mayne aswell is another, keep an eye on him there are a couple in that price range and there may well be a better option.

What do you all think of my team....Im pretty happy about it, but like to get some comments from you in case Im being too risky with a
more midpriced/lower end forward structure.

Many teams seem loaded in fwd line, but Ive taken approach of loading backs and mids instead. Im not sure about nic nat yet, and will maybe replace him with Hille or Ottens if they selected in round 1.

Goddard, Enright, Grimes, H. Shaw, Hodge, Malceski, Hunt

BACKLINE
Clearly very St.Kilda focused when picking your backline guns. This could pay off but then again you are putting all your eggs in one basket. Clancee Pearce is maybe a little risky at 240 with a plethora of cheeper options in the backline i would be looking at a waters, hunt, kennelly, malcheski type playyer instead.

MIDS
Love the Ablett captain and keep that locked in for the season if injuries allow. The only issue i have with your mids is the fact you have two base price rookies. with so many nice 94,000 and even 89,000 mid rookies i would be picking them. maybe have based priced ruck bench if u need to save money.

Ruck = fine

forwards are solid Gray coming off an injury so maybe keep in mind a change there but dont pull the trigger yet...

All in all a solid team :thumbsu:

Of the players you undecided on Id choose Kenelley & Ziebell for sure.
Love your team but have major query on Rockcliff being named for round 1. Maybe downgrade a mid and upgrade him to a Wright or Campbell from Nth melb. Also feel armitage is a touch risky, and you could downgrade ablett and upgrade armitage.

I count 7, maybe 8, keepers. Fail. That's 14 upgrades required. You've only got 20 trades.

With $2,600 left. I think the side is solid but Hall, Mayne, Tippett I feel could be changed up, but I'm not sure how...

Any thoughts?

* You must have been on Mars to not know that Marc Murphy has had a very limited pre-season. Go with Mitchell
* You shouldn't be putting Hall in your team after only 1 game. Remember he dominated against Gibson who usually won't play that role and was playing his first game of footy in about 4 months. Watch his next game closely.
* Dalziell will be a machine DT'er but we don't know if he's gonna play yet. Better options around that price range.
* Jolly won't get as many hit-outs at Collingwood due to their faster game style. Look elsewhere
* Kirk has little to no upside

Like I said, it's rough. But is there anyone one i'm missing or are any of them pointless to have. What are some obvious upgrades? that kind of stuff would be helpful. (we've got a decent kitty for the winner this year building up)

Injury prone defense. Would love to upgrade one of them but can't find anyone. Not that keen on Kennelly especially but yea, he keeps creeping in to my team.

134K in the bank still.

Rockliff up to Dangerfield

Thinking about it. Dangerfield played 19 games last year and never cracked the 100. By some reports Rockcliff was the leading position getter against Carlton last week meaning his put in 2 blinders in 2 weeks. Could be wrong though and Dangerfield will undoubtedly improve significantly this year. Decisions, decisions.

Or get both...

anyone thinking of going kreuzer, tippet (seaby, warnock)

cheapest 0 injuries issues ruck possible.... though lots of money on the bench i guess.... though you could consider seaby a cash cow. (or substitute seaby for hille if you like him better)

I was thinking of putting Sandilands Kreuzer/Tippett onfield and Naitanui & Warnock on the bench, but I don't think I'll do it. Could be a good money-spinner though.

I guess this should be in the rucks thread...

Defenders: Hodge, Carazzo, S.Fisher, Enright, Kennelly, Ladson, Waters (Davis, Maguire)

Mids: Bartel, Selwood, Cooney, Masten, Martin, Trengove (Shuey, Bastinac)

Rucks: Cox, Hille (Warnock, Vardy)

Forwards: Riewoldt, ROK, Pavlich, Franklin, Ziebell, Waite, Dangerfield (TDL, Lobbe)

Bit unsure about Waters. He is still young and should improve, is as fit as ever and should get a spot in the team for round one on reputation alone, but he is an injury risk. Has better scoring potential than Hunt, who is the other possibility.
Also not sure about Mayne vs Dangerfield

What do you think?
