Rate the 8

I'm trying to rate the top 8 in terms of their threat to Freo in the finals.

Swans – Last team to beat us, 2005 premiers, and they appear to be in good form. I’m assuming Hall is fit, no Hall and they slide down the threat list significantly.
West Coast – Beaten them twice but always a threat and I’m sure they will lift for the finals. Playing them at Subi will negate the threat somewhat, ie equal crowd presence.
Saints – Too much talent to ignore, if Kosi finds more fitness they will be a strong contender. No Hayes will hurt them a bit.
Melbourne – Strong team that always worry me, recent performances against Geelong, Swans and Carlton leave them lower on the list than I would have initially thought
Bulldogs – their run and stun game could expose us and did in round 11.
Collingwood – beat them at home in our one meeting, they have had a bit of a troubled season so I’m rating them quite low.
Adelaide – ravaged by injuries, otherwise would be at the top. I'm assuming Roo is actually crook.

Thoughts?

Sydney - their style of play is hard to play against
Adelaide - injuries yes, but they are still a force
Melbourne - strong up front and in the middle
St Kilda - loads of talent
Bulldogs - quick and skillful when on song
Collingwood - how did these schmuks make the 8?

West Coast: Our biggest threat...We still cant shut down their stars

Adelaide: Coached very well, for the past 2 years played greater than their list suggest.

Sydney: Power up forward, their game style stifles our mob.

Saint Kilda: Finals experience and quality list, always a threat

Doggies: As stated, run and stun has hurt us in the past

Melbourne: Front running recievers, easily crushed.

Collingwood: Had their finals in the first half of the season.

Even as a Carlton supporter i would underrate collingwood in the finals, especially as if Freo do end up with Collingwood in EF1 it will be at subiaco and if memory serves me correct the last time Collingwood beat Freo at subi it was 2003

GO BLUES 2007!! (But freo 4 premiers 2006, they deserve it!!)

no 1 concern for us = eagles & dees
2nd tier =swans

then everyone else i don't think are a serious threat

i think saints players like kosi & hamill will just not be game hardened enough
collingwood - their policy of letting players do what they want does not inspire team building which i think is important at finals
bulldogs too many out with injuries & returning players not enough game time
adelaide really unlucky with the injuries

If we have a double chance and home finals, then your first two statments I agree with. We can be confident against any team, without thinking winning will be easy; it won't, and I have no idea how our team will react to finals. But Adelaide and Sin Kilda are both serious competition as well. Collingwood or Bullies over here is not a bad draw if we miss the 4.

They will still be just as hard to beat there.

Sydney will be the side I would leastwant to see us play, they are very disciplined.

Is there any point in doing it. Presuming we finish third after the home and away..we wont play in melbourne till the Grand Final. We will either play in perth or adelaide first week, perth or week off in the second, then perth or adelaide third week.If all the favourites win this week, or both wc and adelaide loose, I would think/hope that we beat adelaide in adelaide.
