Watched him closely and now more than ever feel delighted to have moved him on particularly if Reid comes on the way he looks like he will over next 12 months.

I give him a 2 for that performance - poor boody language - absolutely nothing in money time - yet again he goes missing when the game is tight.

If anything he distracted Pavlich.

Solomon was even worse..

Hopefully Lonely from 50 - will not get offended re the negativity around this post. It is an opinion. I believe having an opinion that we can not win a flag with Licuria and the plod squad (or evn be competitive in finals) is not overt negativity but a reasonable and rational piece of commentary .

Back to the Freo game - what it shows to me that it is critical not to carry veterans...Also you need some really good small forwards - no wizard and medhurst and freo are too predictable.

Yeah We are getting the best out of the deal with snapping up Meds. Like do Freo have any creative forwards. Like staunched it Taz who's putting Pav off his game. What's plod squad? I Agree we may not make the finals but I think we'll either between 10-8 this year.

Tarrant will never be consistently awesome though he has as many goals as Rocca thus far. I doubt Medhurst will either. I don't think the trade result will come to fruition 'til Reid starts tearing it up for us as, afterall, that's what the trade was all about.

He was very average. But so was the rest of the side.

Yep Tarrant hasn't really been missed, but I think the jury is still out on the 'plod squad'. Out and out speed is not all that counts, footy smarts are still 60% of the equation and while I wouldn't suggest that the 'plod squad' are the greatest in this department they have a lot of experience and that counts as we have seen twice this year, two of the plod squadders have played out of their skins for Collingwood, that is O'bree and Lockyer. They certainly haven't got any faster but have carried an undermanned midfield admirably. Look at the supposedly enhanced (AKER) and much vaunted Dogs, many on other parts of this forumn are suggesting the wheels have fallen off. I don't think that is the case, but they have probably returned to a more conservative approach which has robbed them of some of the unpredictability factor they used last year. Sound, experienced players need a coach who can exploit what they have to offer, and so far this year MM has done that. Some lesser coaches (overrated by media) haven't been able to get the best out of supposedly superior squads. Lica had 3rd highest posessions to 3/4 time, mightn't have looked flash but 28 posessions is 28 posessions especially ,when you are chasing a 4 goal lead with an inexperienced team. 2 out of 3 ain't bad, and the perfect premiership squad will never exist, look at the much vaunted Eagles who quite honestly stumbled over the line against the Swans last year. It was supposed to be Adelaide until the horse trainer tried to start finals preparation in July. No one has lost their head yet, and that is a great sign with good players back in the next 2 weeks.

I have always rated Tarrant more so than most. He is a hard chaser, good tackler, good kick when passing, and works pretty hard but I've also thought he wasn't too bad at the contested ball. However if you look at most key forwards they have almost as much contested possesions than uncontested and Tarrant does not, this is a major part of why Tarrant can't be a consistant key position player at FF or CHF.

I hope the Tarrant threads will die off though.

Medhurst is not a small crumming forward like Farmer. He is more of a small leading forward.

Tarrant did not do that well this week. Its not entirely his fault. The delivery into the Freo fowardline was terrible. You cant judge Tarrant's performance on just one game. Last week against the Bombers Tarrant was great and he kicked 4 goals.

tarrant has had poor delivery his whole afl career he should be used to it.he looked to have dropped his bundle didn't chase or compete hard regardless

I guess you don't rate Lucas or Riewoldt as Key position players then!

tarrant and pav were both pretty average but thats mainly because the delivery into the forwardline was pathetic and west coast just picked it off so easily....the week before against essendon the delivery was much better and more direct. I still rate tarrant, will do well at freo...
