Ratten certainly shows that he's capable of running this team to possibly glory. If not, he'll be doing a damn fine job anyhow. He really has what it takes to communicate with our boys at the moment.

Whilst this is pleasing, they will still need another couple of pre-seasons on the weights to get up to where they need to be.

All in all, very positive stuff from Ratts.

Interesting to see Juddy taking the side for an extra running session after training....maybe he will take on the captaincy after all?

All pretty good to hear, although I am still trying to work out how we will solve our CHF problems for the year.

Maybe Ratts is going to go with a new revolutionary strat and play 3 leading Half fwd flanker types in Fischer, Gibbs and Houlahan! Omit a true KPP centre half fwd altogether. Not impossible if you take Robert Murphy at the doggies as an example.

Either that, or we go with an unproven KPP which i'm not that excited about.

That is actually a very good idea. Fisher, Gibbs and Hoops al playing as HFF getting 5-8 marks a week each (Fisher maybe more). Would be very exciting to watch and as you said revolutionary.

One option may be to put Kreuzer there. See how he goes in the nab cup to decide.

Would be very surprised to see the big fella thrown straight into one of the hardest positions to play on the park.....esp. if he said he isn't going to throw him to the wolves in the ruck.

The way Cloke has been moving at training, I wouldn't be surprised to see him given a shot there. The guy is an absolute tank, yet is moving as well as I have seen him move. Probably not a long term option but worth a punt in the interim IMO.

Was thinking the same thing about Cloke...is super aggressive, a great trait for a CHF, and could play a Spalding role. With Houlihan, Betts, and Gibbs (and a resting Murphy) patrolling the area, all he would need to do is take a few marks and bust the packs on other occassions. With Fev and Fish taking their usual marks, could be a pretty dangerous set up.

Ratten is just awesome. He is obsessed with developing this young side into a multi-flag success. I like the talk of Gibbs moving to the wing/HFF. Gibbs skills are exceptional, and playing these roles will maximise the impact these skills have. He could easily kick a bag off the HFF flank himself, and setup a lot of quality opportunity for Fev. Not that impressed with Waite being a fulltime CHB, but we just don't have any experience down there, so it's probably sensible at this stage, while the young defenders gain experience. He will no doubt have stints at CHF though. :)

That's how I have my best 22 lined up believe it or not...

B: Armfield Jamison Thornton

HB: Waite S.O'Halipan Scotland

C: Simpson Stevens Walker

HF: Houlihan Fisher Gibbs

FF: Betts Fevola Kreuzer

Foll: Hampson, Judd, Murphy

Int: Carrazzo, Bower, Cloke, Russell / Hadley

Lookout!!

I'd play Kreuzer at CHB. He has the height and athleticism to play on the lead-up types in Riewoldt etc. Would give him an excellent grounding in the AFL, especially playing in one of the easier positions on the ground, and resisting throwing him to the wolves in the ruck. Koschitzke won the rising star from CHB, he's really a ruckman/forward.

The best news of the lot. What a champion, and such a proffessional.

Hard work is what separates top-line footballers from those with potential.

I think Judd will help all of our players realise that.

Interesting to see that he has confirmed that Waite will be playing at CHB.
All seems like good news and can't wait till round 1!!!:thumbsu:

I love Waite up forward, and ideally thats where i think he should be played.

Circumstance is really what has lead to this switch.

Having said that, he can have a big impact back there aswell, and hopefuly it works out for the team.

Yeah, i agree. For Jarred Waite personally, i think that he would have a greater impact up forward, but for the team point of view, which is what matters, we need him down back because that is our weakest area and needs help from a player like him.
You don't work on your strengths, but your weaknesses.:thumbsu:

That is everything i wanted to hear and has answered most of my questions!!!!!!!

I like the idea of cloke being at CHF as i also liked the way he was moving at training but does anyone had a look at his kicking at training it sliped my mind. if he fixes up him kicking he will be a great CHF.

Also i realised when i was matching my team against the doggies team the other day and i had waite up forward because i didnt have someone for him to match up on! So some games maybe he will have to play forward

though little bit upset about the Waite at CHB scenario, but i trust Ratts!!

We have 3 very young potential CHB's in Austin, Bower and Hartlett, all of them yet to show enough to make the position their own.

Waite very much needs to be given one position for the entire year to really work on his consistency and bridge that gap between his best and worst.

While I agree that Waite is much more valuable in the forward line, I can't fault Ratten's logic here as it really seems as though it is best for this list for this season.

Let's hope by this time next year one of our young hopeful's has shown enough to be given the CHB position and allow Waite to permanently return to the forward line.
