I only caught a snippet of the interview but Ratts basically said a move to The MCG would be good for the club because of our poor record at the TD and we don't appear to play well there.

This is where Ratten needs to get a bit smarter I think. He is basically giving the players an out or an excuse if we don't perform at the ground. Personally I would have rather he said that we need to learn to play the ground better and our record their is not good enough and needs to be fixed.

Thoughts.

Exactly right. We might not be playing there well ATM (have we played well any where these last three years?), but our form there is not an inherent issue with the football club. Although I'd argue that we should play a greater majority of our home games at the MCG due to limited seats at the Dome (except against the interstate sides barring Brisbane, where it's not so much of an issue), form alone shouldn't be a big factor in moving all home games to the 'G.

Hard to argue with any of that Kooley. I think you make a very good point here, and maybe this is something that Ratts can learn from with his dealings with the media moving forward.

I do think that Ratts has been pretty good with the media thus far, however, IMO, he has dropped the ball on this ocassion.

Or it could be mind games by Ratts to get a response out of them. If my coach said something like that in the media I wouldnt be too happy and would like to show him a thing or two, so in a way it could be taken both ways.

very good point- looks like another easy out.

IMO ratten is off the mark- we have performed poorly at TD because we have been poor.

a good team will be able to adapt to each ground they play on.

No doubt our record there remains particularly sh!tful.

Ratts may have slipped up but surely the players are well aware - it's something they can turn around starting this weekend.
