Arrogant fools thought they could go to club of choice.

They have been stiched up...especially Rawlings....he will be sprewing he left Hawthorn.

Hope Lions were paying attention. This is what I was saying we should have done to Headland last year.

Sometimes you have to take some short term pain for long term gain.

Next year players will think twice before quitting.

Tell u what....bonus for the Lions too.

Port will be a lesser of a team without Stevens; and the fact he did not get to the Collingwobbles was also a plus.

Port won't make the top 4 next year. They'll struggle to make the 8. They're finished.

Cutting off your nose to spite your face doesn't win Flags Mav.

Dumb approach by the Hawks.

The end result is that Rawlings will end up with a club he doesn't want to be at.............quite probably the Bulldogs.......and the Hawks will end up with diddly-squat.

Headland was leaving no matter what. Forcing him into the draft just to prove a point would have been lose/lose for him and the Lions.

There is no way Rawlings will play for the Hawks next season....just like there was no way Headland was going to stay with the Lions in 2003.

Scoring points against disaffected players doesn't win you any friends. All it does is show you up to be a petty and spiteful club that is more interseted in its pound of flesh than the bigger picture.

Since when did we start pinning our hopes of success on other clubs being weakened by their failure to trade successfully?

Surely we're not THAT insecure.

Who cares where Stevens, Rawlings or anyone else in the trade mix ends up next season?

From all accounts we've kept our list virtually intact for 2004.

The other clubs can shuffle and sidestep all they like.

Get our best (or close to our best) side out in the Finals in 2004 and let them try to beat us.

All the rest is academic.

I hope Port have another really good year next season.

I really hope they make the GF so we can pants them and shut them up for good.

I'm getting sick of beating Collingwood.;)
You got it.

Have to agree. Picking up Caracella and Brennan, as a result of the Headland trade was in my view a much better outcome for the Lions, that having Headland go into the draft for nothing in return.

However the Hawks didn't end up with nothing. They did pick up Danny Jacobs, as a result of letting Rawlings go into the draft.

I very much doubt it could happen (and also depends on Hawthorn's salary cap) but theoretically Hawthorn could still come to terms with Rawlings, putting an end to the Dogs attempts to draft him in the pre-season draft.

you my friend are an idiot!

I think Port probably won a fair bit of respect through their dealing this week, the fact that the wouldn't bow down and accept anything for stevens will help them long term, the other clubs now know that when a player wants to leave port they cant totally screw them and they will have to put something decent up for offer to get a deal.

Didn't we do this with O'Bree a few years ago, sent him to the PSD and then i think we got our reward last year when we got a great deal for Des.

Port is well known for being tough to trade with even to the point of stupidity and this was stupidity. A slab of XXXX would have been better than Jack Sh*t. Port and Colin wood both get 1/10 for trade deals.
