It probably is a long shot. I'd rather him than PJ or Spencer though. It depends on how well he goes in the NAB cup.

I reckon that Tapscott is possibly even a chance to play before Scully and Trengove.

This is not an easy excercise, I wish the selectors well.. Miller is in my side only to allow Watts more time to get himself right. If Garland is fit, he would be a walk up start, but where ?????

Of the draftees, Trengove and maybe Tapscott are a chance. Scully is on a modified training program due to knee surgery, so I doubt that the club will be in any hurry to rush him in the side.

And anyone who included Gawn has got NFI. He's the youngest draftee, who missed a large part of the season through injury. And people are picking him to play in the ruck come round 1. I don't expect him to play senior football until 2012.

1) Where the hell is Garland in all your teams? Does no one rate him, or do you think we'll be too top heavy down back?

2) Secondly, I doubt Gawn will debut Round 1. The club will want him to get some experience in the VFL first, whilst also giving Johnson and Martin an opportunity first up to prove their worth.

3) If Scully and/or Trengove do play, they will probably be eased in on a flank or wing. Can't imagine either of them playing onball in their first ever game.

Brad Miller is on notice, as soon as Watts has a few good games playing as a KPP at Casey he’s straight in. Strauss and Blease who knows when they will debut but it will have to be soon. Warnock misses out if Garland is fit.

Brad Green is and interesting one. He could also come under some pressure from Tapscott on a flank if he is as AFL ready as he appears. However does anyone else think Green could play out of the goal square? He is one of the best set shots on goal in the AFL, as a great set of hands and you know he will hit the pack every time (not that I want to use him as a battering ram).

BUT the biggest problem is… If all goes according to plan with player development will we drop our captain? Even with natural player attrition I can see Jmac under the pump in the second half of the year.

A few unlucky to make it. for all those people who have miller in your side for either of the following reasons to protect watts or to educate him. you really musnt have any idea, i would not want him trying to teach our main foward for hopefully the next 10 years how to play football when he cant even himself, and if i was a defender and had brad miller intimadating me id probably laugh, he thinks hes tough but really isnt, putting miller in your side is another year of frustration and disapointment! i didnt put johnson or spencer in because i feel martin has more potential and did he part playin as a part time back up ruckman last year.

Exactly - that's always been the big source of frustration with Miller, his set shots are the one thing that's continuously held him back.

I've been thinking about what Baill's said regarding Scully starting his pre season on a modified program & it doesn't make sense to me. I know he has had issues with his knee & will start running this week but, We/He have know for a very long time that he was going to be a Demon, so therefore there must of been discussions on what he should be doing while he couldn't run (or at least the club should of had these discussions)...

His fitness levels should be nearly on a par with all listed players even at this early stage, considering how highly regarded his commitment to training were held....

I think it is a smoke screen by the club & he will be up & playing in pre season games & totally ready for round one...

Trengove is in exactly the same position.

The other boys also would not have lost a lot of fitness because whether or not they got picked up by an AFL club, they still would be playing footy somewhere & couldn't afford to start behind the other guys that they would be playing with....

The clubs treat us with contempt at times, with the crap they tell us........

Scully had arthroscopic surgery to repair a chipped patella. and was required to take a month off
this is why he missed draft camp and state screenings.
