Ross Lyon says Phillipou is a part of the club’s midfield vision and wants to solidify the left-footer there long term.

“We’re looking to play him a bit more midfield, we’ll have to balance that up,” Lyon said.

“We really liked him forward, he was dangerous, he kicked two goals – we’re going to have to figure that out.

“We drafted him to be a big inside mid, as we did (Tobie) Travaglia, as we did (Hugh) Boxshall and as we did (Hugo) Garcia.

“Really, (Jack) Macrae and Jack Steele are bringing those guys through. Hunter Clark got through last week, two weeks in a row now.

“He’s a really good player for us, in particular experience. Zak Jones was really unwell the previous week or so, we’re looking to build.”

Got rolled by Essendon last year. Not sure how long ago now but north has won one single Good Friday game and been spanked in every other one, guess who the loss was?

Not that it’s really the point though. Do you have 100% confidence? You shouldn’t
Year before Hawthorn at Marvel and we led late in the last aswell.

I'd be willing to bet a large sum of cash that Travaglia ends up as a half back flanker

Should have put more into his storm out.

And I wouldn't blame him. God forbid that he expects questions about St Kilda at the weekly St Kilda press conference.
He seemed pretty irritated from the start.

Lightened up around the NAS stuff and then was kinda just done with them all by the time TDK was spoken about.

Not sure about Pou's future, cause I just don't see him as a midfielder. Too small (around 177cm isn't he?), has no passion for the game and can't hit a target with his preferred right foot.

If I was Ross, I would give him one last chance to prove himself in the back pocket to play on the elite Matt Owies. Lose that match up and he's starting at left-right out.

Am I doing it right??
Yeah, but Higgins' Tinder profile reads as tho he's a 6'3" Adonis, it's the belief in oneself that's important

If they play their tall defenders they’re pretty tall down back at 196, 196, 198, 200

Caminiti back and with no Harry (scenario) we could aim shorter and faster in the forward line; Owens, Sharman, Pou, Higgins etc…

Good to see Wood listed wing. IMO his best football for us is up and down the pitch.

At what points does someone who we drafted after being impressed by their midfield form, who has trained in the midfield group from the day they arrived and played primarily midfield at both levels they featured at just get seen as and talked about a midfielder?
I remember Lyon talking of Pou as a quality forward initially, now he is a potential midfielder, as is Nas, Trav, Owens, Boxshall, Garcia, Sincs, Dow etc. There's only so many midfield spots in a team, so someone is going to have to really step up to cement one, with McRae and Steele in there.

good pisstacke but pou is listed at 190cm.

Didn’t want a bar of the TDK stuff in the end.

I don't blame him but he could hardly be described as having stormed off.

That West Coast side is pretty diabolical on paper. If we just split the midfield battle surely we can't lose. Expect Roma to make Matt Flynn spew up on the wing half way through the third quarter

I’m happy for Gus. He’s been the best performed ‘defender’ for a minute.

He's a solid mark and looks like his best spot is as an undersized third tall defender. There is a spot if he can perform.

Essendon were 8-1-3 and second on the ladder after Round 13. That was the team we lost to.

When has Pou not been a potential midfielder? Since day one I reckon.

Box, Trav, Hugo, Dow, etc will too but they need a few more years of development. It's not that they have to "step up" nearly as much as develop and that takes time.

Being a quality forward and a potential midfielder are not mutually exclusive

Eg. Heeney, Warner, JHF, Bontempelli, Greene etc etc

Irritated maybe, but Robert Walls stuff is pretty raw for him so fair enough that he just wanted to get through it and just talk about the game.
