The travel, last minute and otherwise and being away from home and families is showing.
Fought hard, plenty of fight no doubt, but just couldn’t get going for a multitude of reasons.

Now we have, barely, a 5 day turnaround to take on the Cats Friday night at their home.

You would think Davis, Kelly, Hopper (hope he is ok) and most probably Mummy are outs.

Who comes in?

Thinking Briggs, Riccardi, Bruhn and Stein

Yep, agree with a bunch of those.

Davis & Hopper would seem clear outs.

Mummy, Kelly, Reid could be others out with niggles.

If Taranto fills Hopper's midfield role, keeping Bruhn would seem a good option; the other would be de Boer (for his experience). Or de Boer for Kelly, trading run for run-with.

Stein for Davis.

Briggs in if Mummy goes out, although he'll be short of a gallop.

Finlayson could be an option for Reid and give Briggs a chop out in the ruck.

Could get ugly - but we've seen that in past seasons, and TBH the percentage hit doesn't matter this year.
Its more that it demoralises the group after what has been a decent month considering the constant movement

True, but I suspect that there are other factors that have demoralised them in the last few days and weeks.
I feel for NSW as a whole, unfortunate situation going on 😥

We need to commit to a 2022 development team for the final 3 straight weeks.

Choose who we believe will be in our team one year from today, and play that 22 for 3 straight weeks.

As long as we are a chance, we won’t give up on trying to make finals. Nor should we.

From the Jacob Hopper story https://www.afl.com.au/news/656937/-brave-and-tough-giant-in-hospital-after-smother-goes-wrong:

Phil Davis was subbed out in the third term with concussion while Daniel Lloyd and Sam Reid both had to be helped from the field with ankle issues but were able to play out the game. Shane Mumford also battled hard under duress but looks set to miss the clash with the Cats.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Shipley got a run this week.
Might be the only one left given that lengthy list of outs!

Davis & Hopper - 12 day concussion protocols.

Tom Green - 2 weeks, hamstring.

Sam Reid - 1-3 weeks, ankle -> medial ligament strain.

Finlayson - stayed in Qld to be with pregnant partner

Lloyd a test on his ankle.

Kenners another week on his hamstring.

Cogs still out.

OUT: Davis, Hopper, Mumford, Green, Reid.

IN: Stein, Bruhn, Briggs, de Boer, not sure - maybe Riccardi to give Briggs a chop out, or Shipley.

I think we need to play toby mainly in the midfield, back Hogan, lloyd, riccardi to score the goals. Toby can spend time in the forward line as well.
After looking good a couple of weeks ago, our injury list is bad again. If we can somehow win 2 of the next 3, at least we get a week off.

Tough to see Lloyd recovering on a 5 day turnaround, fingers crossed.

Green is out injured fyi and I think another tall will come in to back up Briggs in the ruck, Sproule or Riccardi

Could our current ‘Rehab 18’ team beat the one we’ll need to field on Friday night vs Cats?

Rehab 18 (+ *brother + *coach)

Kennedy - Keefe - Shaw
Buckley - Davis - Reid
T Green - Pruess - *J Green
Lloyd - Flynn - Hutchesson
Hill - Finlayson - *Stevie J

Hopper - Mumford - Coniglio

That’s not a half bad side.

That’s not a half bad side.

I think the Rehab boys would dominate on the inside and generate more I50s, albeit lacking some outside polish.

The Rehab forwards may be less efficient, but would be getting more looks.

Backs a bit of a wash I suspect.
