once upon a time it was to troll the richmond board without being banned for being a carlton supporter. those were better days..

You should change it back so you are moderated as a Carlton supporter, or is this no longer the reason and Carlton is not your favoured team any longer?

People can talk about public forums all they like, but BigFooty is privately owned, and team boards are predominantly for supporters of the club, and opposition supporters don't have the same rights, no matter how find they might be if the club, especially when locals have to see them be critical in the only place they have sanctuary on this site.

Just change it back. It's the easiest thing in the world to do and people will leave you alone.

I have more important things to do than please people on a public forum

That's a cop out. We might be your second team but you can't have your cake and eat it too.

BigFooty is not the club. We don't get any money you might contribute so we don't need to count you as a supporter.

This half in, half out bullshit. Sheesh.

Anyone know what the free kick count was at the time of the 'dangerous tackle'?
Not saying it was the reason why we lost, but it was a clear turning point in the game. From that point on, it seemed to be one way traffic from the umps. They got every 50/50 and we couldn't get a call.
Not saying the umps were out to get us and I was expecting a loss (it was 13th vs 4th, with half our team missing). It's frustrating enough watching the ball constantly going one way without having to worry about the calls all going one way as well.
But this is exactly the problem, after the call against Saad you could see a collective drop of heads even thought we were still 16pts up. We fold when the going gets tough.

I really wish I had your faith in the list.

The team that we've just spent the last 5 years building stood there and let Port destroy us.
You're pretty clouded here Geth. Usually a poster with much more clarity but this thread and the last week or two I sense you've just got too much of a dark cloud in your mind about it all.

When judging the list you can see, easily the stars we have. Which is the single most important thing, we've got the hard bits done. Gun kf, gun contested mid, gun accumulator, gun hb(s), gun full back. The rest is easy to fill and likely the ingredients are already there. How good does honey look up forward, lobs been delivering the ball beautifully and has two games over 20 disposals as a winger in a fed up team since coming back. Plowman is a rock, he makes mistakes but he's still a rock. I don't see that many holes in the list. I see a cultural wasteland and it smacks me in the face how our puzzle pieces look like they're being jammed together by a toddler instead of where they should be as to create that beautiful manet picture, or whatever the puzzle is. I'm not here trying to defend that performance by the players, sure it was horrendous.

Culture and mental state can never be underestimated. I played with a team that was full of people who had played with Phil Hughes before he moved to SA. We were useless for a short while after he died, after being the dominant force in the comp before that.

I've played in a carnival where the coach was just a **** wit. Didn't understand the group, how we fit together or the mental state we performed best in. The year before we won, our coach retired. That season we came last. Coach was fired. The season after we came second and just missed winning. Sure we played like ****ing idiots and we got blasted for effort after every game that carnival but when frustrations are high, dropping of heads becomes way too easy. We tried to put in but if it didn't go to plan the heads would drop and effort would disappear. You also wouldn't meet a bunch of guys more passionate about their club. At least half that team has played professionally on TV since. We were talented and we were nearly destroyed by a coach in a single pre season.

I've countless stories and experiences like these to draw upon and reflect upon and they all help me know that it turns quickly.

I put some extra effort into this post because I hope it helps keep some faith about how quickly things can turn when players are provided the tools they need to succeed. Internal 'pride and passion' simply isn't enough. They need proper support systems. Once they have them, it turns fast as ****.

I'm feeling a bit down, and it's certainly colouring how I see things.

Thanks.

Club isnt broken. There are a few eggs that will be gone over the next 2 weeks that aren't good for our club.

Appoint a new coach who the players want to play for along with new assistants. Add a couple of good players via trades and a few draft picks and remove approx 8 players and we will feel like a new club.

No club in the AFL is ever that far off.
So I like your optimism, but as supporters we have seen that play out 4 times in the last 12 years and nothing has changed.

the bad eggs must have way more influence than people give them credit for is my guess.. and have influence at Board level.

We have seen coaches players recruiters assistants development personal all come and go yet there is only one constant.

The Board.

Really sorry to hear that friend.

You are one of the truly good guys on our board.

Sending you positive thoughts and karma.

End of the day, each and everyone one of us regulars on this board are deeply passionate and love the Carlton Foorball Club with our heart and soul.

Understandably emotions and passions have been running high here the last 18 - 24 months due to awful COVID pandemic and lockdowns.

In hindsight, perhaps I was wrong to have so much faith and trust in David Teague as coach, but I have no regrets, maybe it was my heart talking over my heart, but I felt Teague was and still is a coach with plenty to offer, alas probably not at our club going forwards.

If you need someone/a friend to chat to downin the dumps, my PM are always open to you (or anyone else here)

Be kind to yourself and try stay positive mate, your opinions and posts do mean a lot. Cheers pal.

The Board changes in composition quite frequently, there is no constant.

It's Constant, one direction same faces same companies different names.
No success driven culture or responsibility from our Board.

Put it this way who gets people to nominate for our Board.

You do know that there's no line of people putting their hands up to join the board, there never is. Anybody can nominate to be a candidate for election, as long as they satisfy all the statutory requirements. The main reason people serve long terms on these types of boards is that nobody else wants to.

Yes I do, been on a few myself we always handpicked our replacements.

And I've served on a few too, we did too, otherwise, we'd never be able to leave, nobody was volunteering their time for an unpaid position.

First quarter and a half we looked great but Port were always going to come. Just how hard they came without a response was damming . Only positives for me was Charlie another game back , Kemp getting through in his first top level game , Honey continuing to impress and Durdin showing something. Shout out to Lob and Bam Bam and Weitering also. Backline sure was under siege .

Hawthorn beat the Bulldogs today without O'meara, Worpel, Breust, Gunston, Sicily et al.

I would love, just once, for that to be us.

A gritty, backs against the wall, late season win against a top 4 opponent. A pleasant surprise that sends us into the offseason with a bit of optimism

Instead every Carlton season is the same. We have at least one of our best 5 players do a knee in oreseason. We look massively underdone in preseason and start with 3-4 players who simply aren't fit, We play a frisky half before getting smashed by Richmond in round 1 then in round 2-4 it becomes apparent We simply weren't ready to go and we drop at least 1 winnable game to a bottom 4 team to be sitting on either 0-4 or 1-3. We then have a mini resurgence including a won over Essendon and then somewhere around mid season We have a winnable game to even the ledger and submit a massive turd of am effort. This is followed by a series of respectable losses to good trams but now we are well off the pace... and injuries are mounting. We have another little mini run, then just as we start looking ahead to a miracle we blow our finals chances with another putrid loss that snowballs, and we lose again and again before being belted by a top 4 team in round 22 and usually again in round 23. Oh, and at least 2 key players have to injure themselves in the last month, need surgery, and nominate themselves for next year's "underdone players in weeks 1-4'

Rinse and repeat, every single year.

I didn't know that, that makes the win all that more exceptional. You're right though, wish we could do that in the face of adversity and for a quarter yesterday, it looked likely. Alas, we couldn't even beat NM and GC when a finals birth was still possible.

They wanted to play for Teague two years ago but look how that turned out. I don’t buy into players wanting to play for a coach.

And now just to add insult to injury (pardon the pun) Fremantle without Fyfe, Brayshaw, Lobb, Walters and Cox beat West Coast!!!

This goes to show how much of a topsy turvy season it's been, teams getting smashed one week and then beating more fancied opposition the next. 8th spot could have gone to a number of teams this year who all have one thing in common....inconsistency.

Shore reserve is in Pascoe Vale, no real Coburg person lives there, if you want to deal with him Coburg style then take him to DeChene Reserve down by the Merri Creek at least there's be an appropriate resting place for him after he'd been dealt with.

the choice of the creek , or the cemetery across the rd. Played a bit of school footy there, but we usually grabbed all out mates and met at McDonald’s Reserve to play every weekend . Great days .
