I'm not panicking yet. I expected this result.

My concern, was that once it was clear the game was over, it was experimentation time, and Buckley didn't take the chance to try anything, which is what his predecessor use to do.

I really think these players, at least most of them, don't want to play for Bucks. Looks like the rumor I heard was true.

I have no problem losing when you try, but not making any effort is embarrassing. Swan is in the middle of the biggest drop off in form I've ever seen from a brown low medallist.

Even Woewodin didn't drop off this bad.

Looks like all the drug testing might have been justified last year ! He looked a poor mans Barney Rubble out there.

I'm not normally one to go overboard with criticism but that was absolutely disgusting.

Firstly Keefe, Steele, Maxy and Heath were the only players to get a tick tonight, these 4 tried hard all game and did their jobs.

The rest were pitiful, soft and a disgrace to the club. I haven't seen a softer performance in a long time, the intent was shocking. I'm going to point the finger; Swan, Pendlebury, Jolly, Wood, Thomas and any other midfielders. the lack of spread and running was a joke, Swanny that handball straight to Gartlett typified the lazy attitude consuming the team atm.

I'm only saying this now cause I'm angry but if the MM/Bucks deal was never signed we would possibly be going for a three-peat right now...the team don't look like they are playing for their coach and really the game-plan is non-existent. FFS why do Dawes and Cloke push up to the wings when we are kicking out, for us to then get the ball and have no one to kick to, bloody stupid.

vent over.

I agree completely with your assessment. :thumbsu:

Some people on these threads have had a go at Sidey and Keefe, WTF???

I know that we have been smashed tonight, but my god some people are posting some absolute crap.

A performance almost as bad as channel 7's commentary. 'pies at least have a reason, well i hope. When the team settles we'll know for sure.

From the best 22ish,
injured or returning via vfl N. Brown, Tarrant, Johnson, Didak, Krakouer, Macaffer.

plus Reid and Ball injured in the first.

returning to seniors Maxwell, Wood, Wellingham, Beams

retired and yet to be replaced L. Brown, Davis

With 2 injuries and at least 4 under done players there's no wonder the game blew out. Our rotations would have been buggered, Jolly looked better the first 2 rounds, but couldn't jump by the game's end. I don't know what was up with his making, but he wasn't alone on that front.

The back line has always had deficiencies, O'Brien has never been great one on one against small forwards, Toovey struggles kicking under pressure, but with a strong back unit they could be covered and every player used in the areas of their strengths. With players out it forces us to plug holes and use players where they're not best suited.

I think that this lack of personnel also has an effect when other teams are kicking out, it's easier when player's weaknesses are more exposed.

It's a credit to Keeffe that he's been able to stand up despite this. We just need a few others to put their hands up.

As a whole the team looks under done, I don't know how pre-season was in comparison to previous years, possibly there's been a change due to last years result. The game plan is different, it had to be, you can't stand still. Perhaps both have been over compensated, time will tell and I hope changes will be made as necessary.

That was a cringeworthy performance. Something is clearly wrong...

I did not enjoy seeing Ball and Reid go off, but there was a lack of spirit and endeavour across the board that was appalling.

My biggest gripe from tonight is the way we move away from the mark and the player with the ball. Yet the scum and whorethorn (in round 1) harass, jump wave arms etc when we have the ball cause they know we will handball to a player in a worse off position OR we will try those shit chip kicks that can be easily cut off. Real worry !!!!
I know it's only round 3 but the same has been served up all 3 weeks so wtf do they review during the week ?

In Buck's defense, losing two assistant coaches, having lazy players (swan) etc is not gonna help. Think we are gonna have to suck it up and pray we win a few games against lower sides until we get our best 22 on the park or we have to be resigned to a year like whorethorns 2009. Injuries and more injuries.

I really think these players, at least most of them, don't want to play for Bucks. Looks like the rumor I heard was true. Yeah right,

I have no problem losing when you try, but not making any effort is embarrassing. Swan is in the middle of the biggest drop off in form I've ever seen from a brown low medallist. And this is Buckley's fault, how?

Even Woewodin didn't drop off this bad.

I would wait until we are about six games in before I am too concerned.

No I definitely remember.

But this is different. These players actually look like they don't give a shit. The rumor came from a relative of a fringe player, which is the only clue I can give.

The source is probably as close to hearing it from the horses mouth as you can get. A decent chunk of e senior players don't like Bucks and Swan's name was used at the head of the pack. Hs performances this year are making me believe this rumor is 100% true.

I still don't buy it but if it was the case, Swan, Thomas, Dawes, Shaw, Pendles, all put pen to paper knowing damn well what the deal was. Surely there would be enough pride in your own performance at this level not to tank just because you have an issue with the coach.

Sorry, the relative of the fringe player has a good sense of humor.

Just one of those nights, nothing went right, got smashed all over and quite a few players looked like shadows of their former self.

Change however small takes time, it's not time to throw the baby out with the bath water. The side we have had on the field over the first 3 weeks has been very different to the sides we have fielded over the past 24 months.

You only have to look at the Saints of a few years ago to see how long changes take to bear fruit. St Kilda were a very good side from '04-'06, 2 prelims and another top 8 finish, Thomas got the flick after '06 and in the next 12 months learning the new game plan of Lyon the Saints dropped out of the 8 before bouncing back in the next 4 seasons. We won't drop out of the 8 but change does take time so it's not a shock that we have taken a small backwards step.

People will throw up Geelong as an example but they had their whole side intact (minus Ablett), a lot more continuity with their best 25-26 but they have greater depth than us at the moment.

Not sure where to start but here it goes:

- Darren Jolly is finished. That's right, he is done. That was a performance that I haven't seen from any Collingwood ruckman in the last 10 years. The Carlton boys just jumped all over him all night long and he had no answer. Cam Wood was useless. Showed signs when going forward but when you are a ruckman, you must be serviceable in the actual ruck. Just throw Ceglar or Witts in there as they can't do any worse than the shit that was served up tonight.

- Listening to talk back radio and people are already calling for Buckley's head? After three games? Give me a f****** break. Bucks will be fine and people pushing the panic buttons already need to have a good look at themselves. Makes absolutely no sense to me.

- Harry O. Absolute stinker and looks slower than usual. I think the slide is slowly coming for Harry and he is on the decline. Still thinks he is a good player but he is playing with shattered confidence at the moment.

- FINALLY, THE PRESS IS DEAD! It ain't even really a press as we are just allowing sides to chip the ball around and they are opening us up over the top far too easy. It's time for some simple one on one football with the customary forward pressure from 2010. It's gone and I have no idea way. Where have goals where we turn the ball over in the F50 gone? You just don't see it these days and has me flabergasted.

Absolute shitful performance and really need to pick things up next week or we could be looking at a 1-4 start to the season.

There is heaps of time to turn this around. Look at 2009. In round 8 we played the scum and lost by more than 50 points and sat at 3 wins, 5 losses. We then won 11 of our next 12 games and in rd 17 we beat them by more than 50 points.

While tonight's performance was pitiful, we can only get better. Some people are seriously overreacting. We have a reasonable next month and it is not out of the question that we win all four of those (Essendon is my only real concern).

6 day break and injuries in the first qtr do not help. The scum were handed a dream first month where all three times they have a longer break than their opponent.

The players are just down on confidence.

Very Good Post.

What Press? I have not seen anything close to that in the 1st 3 Rounds. We just seem to Zone and that is it and Players can get the Ball to Easy.

Yeah hearing the Idiots bag Bucks was just Annoying.

Though I love Harry O tackle in the Goal Sqaure on Kruzer making him look like Nick Riewoldt in the 2010 GF Replay

Tonight was yuck! No question. But we were doubtful going in and it was over as soon as Reid went down, then Ball went too.

I never wanted us smashing teams this early after our fade out last year. I always wanted us peaking at the right time of year so I'm not going to panic yet.

The hardest part of our draw is after the bye in round 12. That's exactly when we need to begin hitting our peak. In the meantime we've got Port, Dons, Doggies, Brisbane, Cats, Crows, Gold Coast and Melbourne.

I'll be happy if we don't drop a match in that stint to any team that isn't a top 5 contender so only the Cats are a worry as far as I'm concerned. After that we need to be switched on because we've got West Coast, Freo, Blues, Cats and Hawks all in a row at the G. Hold your nerve people.

We also should not be looking 3rd Rate and a Bottom 4 Side either by team like the Blues

The blues were on, no doubt. Playing full of confidence. And some players have really taken a huge step forward.

You guys lost two key players to injury. Had a few others who played badly. And haven't had a fluent start to the year.

It looked bad, but not sure I'd be ringing the alarm bells just yet.

Seriously. It was an aberration surely. I haven't seen Pendles perform that poorly since he had a cold. Did Daisy hit a target all night?!!! It goes on. The scary thing is inexperienced players like Keeffe and Clarke did alright along with players coming back like Beams and Maxwell. Meanwhile Carlton were on fire. This won't happen next time we play them. And if it does then we might as well go into rebuild mode. Can I put it down to Friday the 13th?! Please let me.

I hope so and Hey this might be the Wake Up call they needed.

See how they respond next week vs Port

Anyone know what happened to Reid? Saw nothing and only heard shoulder problems. Does it look serious?

Massive loss if so.

Yes it does sound Serious and most likely be about a Month with a Strain Quad or worse
