Anything could happen in this game. The venue is probably a bigger obstacle than the form of the opposition tbqh :p

Just need to see us start with the same intensity as last week and maintain it the majority of the game. I've got my fingers super duper crossed that we worked out the majority of our gameplan kinks against melbourne, but odds are there will be plenty of pain and frustration with this game. In all fairness there was against melbourne too, until that miraculous 4th quarter start. It will be absolutely fascinating to see if LDU has the same defensive edge and if we can once again create so many centre bounce goals.

okay in all seriousness, I have thought about this in depth.

If we are horrendous by foot, we lose.

We win the midfield battle, easy. If we turn that pill over we are done for.

Fairly simple ey? We arent scoring 50 points from centre bounce, thats just not going to happen,

Pressure must be above average the entire game and our forwards need to not be stagnant.

Vs melbourne last week

There was a moment in the third quarter where we had the ball behind the mark in possession at half back. The movement for options everywhere is something I hadn’t seen for a long time.

We manage to not turn over pill, win midfield and have options when we win turnovers, we win. Thats it

Failure to do above and we lose, in simple terms.

If we have structure, formation and talk. That is essentially how its won and lost.

If we are all over the place, pressure is down and fail to talk as a unit behind centre on defence, we get pumped

Looking at the 18 on the ground for each team I'd say talent for talent we match up quite well. However their bench is full of quality talent where as our 5 you would class as solid role players. That is the difference in the game that means we need an enormous team effort to overcome that deficit. Especially on their home deck with the confidence they come in with.

Last Sunday we turned the corner. This Sunday we find out the road around the corner goes up a very steep hill.

Its what's waiting at the top of the hill with a confidence & smugness that troubles me, But then when we get there it might not be so bad! ;)

OK... Rev up time.

Who's planning to be up and about at midnight to post the game day thread?

We had a first gamer last week and clearly, that was a strategically solid move - I suspect that in the history of game day thread creators there's only one person with a 100% win record.

Is anybody up for the challenge tonight?

felt up and about early this week about what we could achieve with some pressure and effort.

Monumentally shitting myself that this will be another 10+ goal flogging.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to AO and seen us play against the crows probably 2016 on a Thursday night when it was sheeting down. I took my 12 yo brother at the time and had ****wit crows supporters just in our faces the whole time.

I’ve had horrific experiences at AO featuring North. The Robbie Tarrant straight out of the vfl where he was subbed halfway through the third after looking like a horse that had its Achilles cut, the opening round Phil Walsh first ever game where the half backs were absolute turnstiles and the Luke Jackson 3rd quarter masterclass during COVID where we knew the rebuild hadn’t even tanked by that stage and we had so much dead wood to cut.

I just pray for some effort and pride tomorrow

The crows forward line concerns me. Felt last week, we were a bit lucky that Melb has dreadful forwards (however our backs played the best ive seen in years).
I feel for us to win, our mids are going to need go work over time and work hard pushing back to support our defenders.
Regardless, its so good to be excited about footy again. It’s amazing what a win like last week can do for their confidence.
