Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Not sure mate, not sure...... As a player the bye would be good, an extra 2 weeks of during the year would be sensational, but thats my opinion.....

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

It's no monty that Wallan will be voted in by the RDFL clubs. One of their closest neighbours has reportedly changed their mind as they are worried about losing players and barneys at the local.

Sounds narrow minded but these are sometimes the attitudes that knock these types of things on the head.

Would be disappointing.

I think they will get the votes to return, we will all find out on the 13th of November i believe the voting will be done on the 12th at an extraordinary meeting.

I think that Wallan might be in a bit of trouble- the reason they left was the RDFL wasnt good enough for them and they were exempt from dvfl league fees for the first season .There league is stronger than ours in second division ( Their Top 8Sides),now they cant win a game they want to come back with the RDFL flying surely they will hurt Kilmores recruiting and some of your present players. Will the junior clubs get to vote not so sure it doesnt concern the junior leagues as they are not bringing juniors and it only affects the seniors and there draw should be interesting which ever way it goes though. The leagues all for it but are the senior sides for it ?

My mail suggests they have the numbers, except Riddell and Kilmore at the moment.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

maybe sunbury are at 5.00 coz they beat the premiers twice last year:confused:

Good point mongrel, but they didnt beat us or Riddell when it counted, and given Riddell embarrassed you guys once, and beat you on 2 other occasions i was just questioning how they could be shorter than Riddell.
But as i said before it is Matts opinion, just questioning his reasons thats all.

After I spoke to Riddell's prez today I'll have the Bombers as $3.00 faves :D

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

speaking from a players point of view - i want wallan back in.

i can see peoples reasons for being against it as wallan did think they were goin to bigger n better things only to come crawling back, and yes there is no doubt some players we have attained from wallan might head back should they return, but surely the club is bigger than 1 or 2 players, right?

the money the blues would make on the gate and the bar on the traditional sunday clash is surely a plus, and when money plays such a vital role in fielding sides each year i hope our committee does the maths on this one before rushing any decision.

also, you cant beat the wallan kilmore rivalry - its as good iff not better than the romsey lancefield and since 2001 kilmore has not had a true rival, sure we have had a string of close games with both sunbury and diggers in recent times, but theres not that real excitement that ya get in the lead up to the games against your nearest neighbour

anyways i have babbled enough but i can say if they are worrying bout fights at the local, i cant see them happening cos all the wallan boys that come drink in kilmore are alright and we all get along pretty well!!!

anyways i am off - tea time!!!

The reason im lead to believe why we left the rdfl wasnt that we were too good because our last flag was 92' and in our last season we finished 5th with romsy belting us by 100pts. The reason was the league was on their knees and was about to fall over so we had to look at our long term future, plus we were paying the debts of some clubs that weren't financial. I know if the clubs vote us in we will be coming back with our tails behind our legs but thats what we will have to face up to. But the fact is we will struggle to survive if we keep playing suburban footy because we cant compete with the money these suburban clubs throw around, and its hard to attract players up here from down town. I personally think one of the leagues old clubs coming back can only strengthen the league and i really hope all the clubs look at the positves for wallan coming back rather the negatives when we left!

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

well matt why the change.? share your info.? would it have something to do with c meecham and p davis going there

Riddell working hard to create new forward set up 150 goal kicking full forward (no name yet) signed has the boys very excited also Coles not retiring.

The fun has started early most clubs chasing everybody.

Think flag odd's should shorten now, with another couple of signings should be right back up there again.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Look like riddel are spending up after the dissapointing finish to the year.
They are recruiting pretty much the whole sunbury lions 2s. Although have heard there losing a few players too.

As for diggers Mormon boys are right to go Ballsy, they will be at the burra 2008. Have a few players on the go but nothing to be confirmed as yet.

Good to here they are still playing hard to replace good players . Surely in this day and age there should be a way for them to play on Sunday. Didnt Melbourne Storm have a player and Rookie of the year play in the SUNDAY grandfinal and win this year. Someone might have to do some homework and sort it out if possible.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Heres a question for over the weekend to discuss-What would be the most any club would pay a player to play in the RDFL. As in highest paid the club could afford. Every club pays players so its a pretty open discussion.
Sipthorpe ??,L.James or A.James ??, Cornish ??, Sims ??, Morgan or Burlak ??, Collins ?? , Pickles ??and we cant forget the Mongrel and BDR68 (Age has caught up) only joshing with you Mongrel and BDR68

I would be worrying about the burras if I was you champ, not others clubs, and if you have nothing confirmed yet i would be worried if I was part of your club should all be done by now, just a quick one to mate Sunbury's two's would be top 4 in the RDFL anyway.

What a crock of 'sh....t'. You should get your information correct before you start opening your mouth. There is absolutely no truth in your statement that Wallan was exempt from DVFL fees at any time.

When Wallan left the RDFL was in disarray and in a very poor financial position, along with several of the clubs. It was seen as an opportunity to move to a more appropriate competition. Also Wallan was not the only club looking elsewhere - it was just the only club that actually made the move. And Wallan had to pay their portion of the Macedon Football Club debt before they were able to leave the RDFL.

The reason Wallan has applied to rejoin the RDFL is that they will NOT play in a third division competition. This has been consistently said to members of the previous DVFL board and clubs in the competition. All the players are very much for the move back to the RDFL and looking forward to renewing acquaintances and rivalries.

a top player in the league should command around 250 imo.an elite player 400.and i dont beleive the average players should get paid.it should be something to strive for.
just for the record ballsy i have refused player payments for the past three seasons. But i guess ive done alright in the early days:D
