I had some civil battles with both Neil and Scott about issues regarding the league. There is no doubt the RDFL has gone forward in leaps and bounds since we had a full-time general manager. My only issue and I know a lot of the clubs feel the same way, is that the current GM is a little similar to Andrew Demetriou - doesn't like to acknowledge problems with the league and has a "my way or highway" attitude. Sometimes it works because he is a paid professional who knows how to run a football competition, but sometimes he is flatly wrong. I certainly enjoyed my time writing for RDFL publications etc. but if anyone thinks I was doing it for my own self-promotion, they are mistaken. I did it because it was something I thought benefited the league and I was also supposed to be paid for doing it.

IMS, 12 months ago, everyone on this thread was quite jovial and enjoyed some friendly banter, as well as talking about the most important thing - football. But when you take away the banter, it takes away the fun. If I want to talk footy I just ring up HFF or OMNI or a couple of players. I know there are others who are the same. Yes, there was a lot of bullshit on here, but a lot of the stuff which was getting removed was harmless. I'm not blaming you because I know it comes with the territory, but you have control over all the other footy threads and you don't clean them up. So you could easily turn a blind eye to ours.

You have no idea what I do on other threads.. Or the time it takes to trawl through them, I do rely on reported posts to assist in keeping them clean, but I cant always get to them all, so your statement is rubbish and baseless, its not like I sit here waiting for stuff to happen. This is my home thread, of course I visit it...

BTW.. Can we have an example of the flatly wrong that has occured and the reasoning behind it?

The run home is going to be interesting..

Riddell, Lancefield, Macedon and Romsey all but have finals spots wrapped up leaving the Roos, Diggers and Woodend to fight out the last 2 spots...

This weeks rivalry of Sunbury/Diggers has more riding on it than any game since the final a couple of seasons ago and should be a cracker.. Boardman Reserve will be the place to be this Saturday afternoon... :thumbsu:

Here, here IMS. Dont often agree with your take on things but you are spot on this time. Ive watched quite a bit of football around the league this year and think it is bloody fantastic we have such an even competition and generally good behaviour and comraderie at games. The blokes ib charge must take some credit for this along with the hierarchy's at most clubs. The only couple of issues that still irk me are the way in which grounds are allocated for finals and the way in which the league handled the 'players involved in melee off the ground' in last years final b/w hawks and riddell. Still cant come to terms with fact that players received no penalty for leaving arena to get involved in a fight regardless of the circumstances. Lets not go back there though, sorry to digress. The league is flying. Who is going to win the flag? My tip: Riddell.
If Romsey start playing as a T E A M, they have the playing list to win the Flag, after last weeks performance, it looks like they are starting to connect with one another, as the result of the game clearly indicates that. If you look at their rucks, onballers and CHF(captain) i would say that the gamble they took after being beaten by Riddle by 90 odd points, may just pay off, and if they win it, good on them for having the guts in making the decision they made. They have the ingredients now all they have to do is make sure the cake rises!

Your always going to find someone who wants to take a pot shot at the league and so forth. I haven't played in it for close to 6 years now, but still keep in contact with alot of the guys and when I'm back I try and get to a few games. From what I've seen the league is 100% better now than what it was back then. You have to have a bit of backbone to cop the criticism the RDFL heavies take week in and week out, but by and large it is still a great competition that is getting stronger by the year. Players are now being attracted to the comp (eg Moorcroft) which will only enhance it in the long run.
At the start of the year everyone would've predicted Riddell to win the flag by how much. Now its a case that maybe 3-4 sides on their day can win it. Should be a cracker of a finals series as a result!:thumbsu:

Will be a cracker of a finals series broman. Like yaself I have participated in several leagues now and think the RDFL is actually quite well run in comparision's to elsewhere. Of course there'll be things that at times you question or scratch ya head at, but the people in charge Im sure do everything in the best interest of the league going forward which is all we can ask unless you, me or anyone else want's to put the old hand up and try do better.

I really do think that any of the 6 sides that make the finals will have an opportunity to win it, it has been proven by some of the results that have come about this year.. I still believe that Riddell is the team to beat, but if you are there, you are a massive chance... If the cards fall...

IMS maybe its just you that is putting the negative spin on all of these posts of such a negative nature that you claim to be on here.
i actually cant see or havnt seen for a very long time any negative stuff said about the rdfl.

nicholls was right the fun was taken out of this thread a while back , whilst i agree you have to keep it to a respectable level on here as a mod things were getting rubbed off here for no reason at all and many people would have had posts taken off here when you were going through your read it dont like it wipe it stage.
this has obviously gone now but people are still walking on egg shells wondering if they could actually post stuff that is amusing.

i actually think that many on here have praised the way the league has changed and many have also said how much their enjoying seeing the league prosper once again.
time and time again people are posting how much the comp has improved and how much better the standard is.
so i wouldnt be tarring everyone with the brush your tarring just one person because what your saying isnt tru.
this year more than ever has gathered more intrest and intrigue given the addition of broadford and the emergence of romsey, macedon and lancefield and just how tight it is down to 7th place, more posititve stuff has been spoken about the rdfl than ever imo and im sure im not alone in thinking that.

remember ims everyone is going to have a difference of opinion on here its what makes it a interesting place if everyone agreed then how boring would that be ?

Let's move on fella's - opinions are like a$$holes, we all got em!!!

Three rounds to go and for you lads in the finals race things are gunna get a lot more interesting yet looking at the draw. Still haven't heard any Bowen Medal tips, anyone running a book this year? Didn't scroll back to me previous post but I think I had Cuffe, McCabe, Green not sure what order, hard being first year taking a close look but any of those guys be a show?

I reckon cuffe will poll alot early on.. but who knows

I think the usual suspects might go around again polling pretty well Doon..

Riddell - Belleville
Lancefield - Waters
Macedon - Blade
Romsey - Moorcroft
Kangaroos - Cuffe (Although I think L.McInerney might finally get some of the votes he deserves in games).
Diggers - Sims
Woodend/Hesket - Knox
Wallan - Karabadjak
Kilmore - Booker
Broadford - Butterworth
Centrals - Bullen
Rockbank - Walker
