By the sound of it he went better than those kangaroos without their "main man" A. James, thread has gone pretty quiet in the the last couple of weeks, does anyone know any reasons for this......?

Thread is quiet because I think alot of the people on here are a bit worried bout saying anything to give thier opponents any ammo before finals...

I overheard a conversation that Fawkner and Jacana were going to merge and try and get into the Riddal League. Has anyone around the RDFL heard this.

Have heard that Fawkner may be looking to return, but with Jacana is a new one... Also heard that Rupo is looking to enter a side in the Under 18's comp next year.. That would be a good way to kill off Under 18's for the local sides.

when does the team of the year actually get selected?? surely we will get some inside info about the team before the bowen medal night

Believe the TOY gets selected tonight.. Anyone willing to have a crack at it???

B - Lyon (MC), Else (WH), Strack (Rom) (c)
HB - Kar Weng (WH), Allen (Rid), Johnson (SK)
C - Sims (DR), M.McInerney (SK), L.Carroll (Rom)
HF - Rowe(K), Lacy (WH), Wadden (Rid)
F - Davis (DR), James (Rid), Meldrum (Rom)
R - Jose (DR), Ruane (DR), Johnstone (WH)
I - Ploog (SK), Watts (Mac), Robertson (K), McClellan (Rom)

That would be my best guess, Robbo and McClellan on the bench due to games missed.

is there any requirements? do you have to play a certain amount of games?? McClellen hasnt seemed to have played much thats all

I dont think there is... It just goes on a vote per the coaches.. McClellan has played 9 or so games I believe, enough to be eligble, no doubt...

I was hard pressed to think of players to replace these two, maybe Donovan from the Kangaroos, Cole Laurie from Diggers, but not really others that could go in.. Hede dropped away in the latter part of the season so he would be out, possibly Blade from Riddell or L.McInerney from Kangaroos, and possibly say Klooster from DR.. But yeah... I decided that if it was my call I would go for Robbo and Macca...

Have copped a heap from those at Bomber land regarding development of players. Agree they have played about 9 players in their seniors, 11 games with 3 or more, 2 with 2, 2 with 1 and 2 with none. They do have at least 9 players capable of playing seniors so they all can't play all the time. I still maintain that senior finals should be the choice of any player in any sport. As a follower of RDFL footy how good would it be grand final day watching the cream of the leagues footballers playing the main game of the year. P Robertson playing alongside James and Climas in the midfield with Belleville, Leitch with Allen in the back half on the large L/field oval would be awesome.

If Riddell seniors don't make the final they still can as they should destroy whoever comes against them in the 18's.

i had the pleasure of watching the sunbury kangaroos in self destruct mode on saturday and it was a beautifull thing indeed !!!!
the last 2 weeks prooves they are nothing with out james. yes helmers wasnt plaing either but he wouldnt have made a huge difference to the end result.

the kids are all guns who have played senoirs no doubting that surely it would be in the best intrests of the senoirs to have some of these kids out there if they do make it to the granny.as its almost a certainty that they will romp it home in the 18s.
maybe the coach of the riddell 18s is chasing an easy flag to add to his coaching resume!!!!

Out of all the TOY sides I have seen this season Chris Payne has not made one yet he is second in the league goal kicking. Has had a cracker of a season.

No such thing as easy flag!
As for coaching resume the guy works hard, anyone will tell you how much work he put into the interleague job. If he puts that much effort into Riddell it is no wonder they have only lost one game in almost 2 years.

HFF... Do we have weekly nominations for the least educated posts??? This would be a shoe in for this week and almost this year....

Nothing without James???? So, he has played 4 games, the Kangaroos have won 11 games, so 11 minus 4 is 7... So 7 nothing games... Is that correct... Still just as many posts by Sunbury people you fool, read again.... Sheesh there are so many idiots out there...

you sound like a moron so i'll have a bite, riddell played better football, woodend played better football, both clubs smashed us, James is a full forward so he has no major impact on any game of football, if the ball does not get into the forward line it wouldn't matter if he was there or not that has been the problem if it gets there then he will have a huge impact.
as for not talking it up about taking the flag! just wondering where you learn't to read. go back and read all 131 pages and quote every post that that is writen and how many people have said it.

agree totally has kicked more goals than every player bar james should slot into a forward pocket in the team of the year. g. ploog has been mentioned in some people TOY sides but with only 21 goals i don't think so. 57 goals is a great effort by the big boy and will prob finish with 70 or so goals for the year.

can't wait for the riddell romsey game this week should be a corker. riddell to finish minor premiers. with a hard win. what the hell is going on with romsey, something has got to be wrong with the team they have got to be sitting 5th.??

Garth covers alot of ground in a game and has an exceptional set of hands. Chris anchors himself inside the forward 50 and is played alot differently than garth.
I doubt Chris will kick 70 goals, he kicks alot of goals against weaker opposition, rarely has a day out against a side with a decent backline.
Garth on the other hand doesn't kick alot of goals against the weaker sides, but always stands up with 3 or 4 against the stronger sides in the comp.

Ploog plays from CHF most of his possesions are further than 50 out, i will just about guarantee he will make the side, nobody has really dominated that position this year, doesn't matter how many he kicks, it is how many he contributes.

My pick for a forward pocket would be Rick Dowling. An old mate of mine, he has been in sensational form this season. Reads the ball better than most and knows how to kick them. Has probably 25 or more goal assists to his name also. Won Kyneton's reserves best and fairest last year after opting to stay out of the senior side. Also won the Bendigo FL coaches award, which sounds carp but is something of note.

Great call on Rick Matt, but knowing some of the coaches who pick the side they wont even know his name. That is despite him kicking his 3-4 consistently! He is the type that is very hard to match-up on!

So would you pick Rick in front of Al Meldrum, Arnel Davis, Chris Payne etc???

C: Shaun Sims (DR), Matt McLellan (Rom), Dale Cuinik (W-H).
HF: John Rowe (K), Alistair Meldrum (Rom), Heath Wadden (Rid).
F: Rick Dowling (W-H), Lee James (Rid), Chris Payne (DR).
R: Jeremy Jose (DR), Steve Ruane (DR), Mark McInerney (SK).
I: Simon Choate (L), Mick Lacey (W-H), Daniel Carroll (Rom), Arnel Davis (DR)
