So what are you apologising for??? The fact that you are bagging Dummy or the fact that your spelling is a disgrace???

Dummy would be ten times the footballer you are... Although you are hiding behind an alias.. So who would know......
Dont jump to conclusions peanut. Never bagged Dummy at all. just questioned the use of the word great. and i do apologise for my spelling. just thought more people on this thread would understand me better if my spelling was incorrect. Agree that Dummy would be ten times the player that i am. but we have more in common than you think. none of us are currently playing the game. and as for the alias crap! i'm assuming that your mother thought it would be a great practicle joke to name you Thats_Special. i'll have to look you up on the RDFL site to work out who you play for.:) :)

i agree kangaroos would be a fair better side with dummy coming off the HBF he provides alot of run as well as hardness at the pill . All the being said 2 questions for you thats_special, is he looking at making it back this year and secondly does kangaroos in your opinion have a weakness and obviously your Alliance is with them

never bagged anyone pal! Sunbury is obviously off limits on this thread. you only read what you want to read. It is however my opinion that sunbury can not win the flag this year. Yes they will play finals and this is a good acheavement in itself but will not make an impact in the finals. Simply not enough depth and struggle across half forward. If the midfield is contained then they will struggle. Half back line is ok but full-back line is suspect to say the least. in a nutshell shut down the midfield and you are well on your way to winning the game:p

Whatever.. But above is your opinion.. its fair enough opinion too... Just have to sit back and see ;)

sunbury is not a touchy subject on this thread only to some unless you bag them. everyone is allowed an opinion. you think we're not up to it, others think we are. we will prove somebody right.

What kind of statement is that? You could say use the exact same points for just about every side in this competition.

If you shut down any side's midfield in this comp then you are a long way towards winning, it goes for any competition across the country.

As for the full-back line, it is probably the most disappointing aspect of this competition, there are only a handful of good full backs and good back pockets going around in the RDFL.

And if you think Sunbury Kangaroos' half-forward line is suspect then you haven't seen many of the Roos' games this year champ. I don't think they will win the premiership this year, but it isn't because I don't think they have major weaknesses in their football side. I just think that there are three better sides going around at the moment. But finishing in the top three will give them every chance.

Extremely well said... And a more reputable opinion than the first given....:thumbsu:

I am a fan of the Kilmore Football Club and the work that Dayson Carroll and Terry Ahern and the Committee have done to put the club back together, so this is not a shot at the Kilmore Football Club.

The write up in the North Central Review on Saturday's game was a disgrace.. For an article to go into such detail on one player and how they were disgusted with thier behaviour is an embarrassment to the author.

Instead of focusing the article on the game, the person in question decided to attack a single player through the article, accusing them of just about everything but murder.

If this is journalism at the Review then they have a long way to go in providing an entertaining read for people of that area.. The comments made were a gross misrepresentation of the game and the people in it.

For me, after reading the article, the game has been tarnished.. If the author actually watched enough of the game, they would know there was not only 1 player on the field, but 36, and several of these players did much the same thing during the game, including one player that was saved by the so called disgraceful opposition from having further punishment bestowed upon him.

I really do hope that in future articles that the author could stick more to the facts about the game rather than a distorted opinion regarding one or two players...

That is all...

Anyway.. To this weeks games.

Lancefield Vs Diggers Rest
This will be a better game than most expect... The Burra will be pretty happy to have a look at Lancefield Park this close to finals time, the big open spaces are where some think Diggers can be exposed, so the chance to play here now is crucial to the Burra.. Lancefield we disappointing last week, I gave them a chance to upset Centrals.. But they were easily outplayed. The horse has well and truly bolted for the Tigers. I think they can keep with Diggers for a half, but then will get blown away as Diggers adjust to the Lancefield ground.
Diggers by 45 points.

Rockbank Vs Melton Central.
A local rivalry in the RDFL.. These sides constantly have players shifting between them in waves. It is a strong rivalry on field that matches many others in the league. Rockbank will give themselves a chance here.. I dont.. Centrals will win easily.. 65 points.

Macedon Vs Woodend/Hesket
Probably the game of the weekend.. Macedon are, contrary to the results, still improving.. They have a very young side, and injuries have hurt them.
The Hawks are flying... A win over the Burra to knock them off the top of the ladder last week and the tails are up.
Woodend will be too strong, but Macedon wont give up without a fight.. Especially at home. Hawks by 30.

Good post, Thats_Special.

Lauren wasn't at the game. She wrote the article purely on second-hand information.
I was at the game, and I thought James went a bit wild at times, but it was well warranted on most occasions. Still, he needs to more disciplined in my opinion.

Lauren can write a good footy article, so don't judge her on just that piece, she just got it wrong on this occasion.

Agree with you.. He did go a bit wild at times, but only yelling... He was pretty controlled with the swearing side of things and didn't bag the umpire.. Just made his point, but loudly.. :D The time he did swear, the umpire in control of the game was fantastic.. He didn't go overboard.. He paid a free kick against James, told him to settle the swearing down and that was that... Game went on.. No more problems.. Wish we could see more umpiring like it.. Thought they were great on the weekend.

for us that werent at the game , is it safe to assume that james was again cruxified by the umpires

He did get half a dozen free kicks, but there could have been more. I think he kicked four goals (don't quote me) from frees.

I don't think Terry Ahearn had sour grapes, from what was written in the Review compared to what I wrote was completely different. I didn't quote Terry, but I spoke to him and he didn't believe the umpires were bad. He was just disappointed with James' behavior.

From the boundary he did seem to get angry at the umpires, but the players say that he didn't abuse them, just got frustrated.

on the quote in the article it sounded like sour grapes from the coach.

People are expecting to be able to do whatever they want to James without repurcussions free kick wise.. Very similar to Lee James.. But Billy, no, the umpires were ok on the weekend.. There were a couple that could have been, but thats footy... Overall, they were pretty good, if there was an infringement it was paid..
As for the coach.. In the article.. I dont think it was sour grapes.. He did say that when you are 6 foot 5 its hard enough to stop you, but when you get frees as well it makes it hard.. But again, people will think that the best way to stop him is to scrag him and hope the umps dont pay frees.. But realistically, he is just another player, you would hope that if the infringement is against any player on the field then it should be paid...:thumbsu:

Not my best piece, but its just the way I saw it.

SETBACK FOR BLUES

by Matt Nicholls

KILMORE suffered a major setback in its bid for a finals berth on Saturday, when Sunbury Kangaroos gave the Blues a football lesson. The final margin of nine goals which separated the two sides was flattering for the Kilmore Football Club, as the Blues were never in the hunt.

It was former AFL player Aaron James who proved the difference between the two sides, the big man booted 13 goals to make it 30 majors from three matches in the Riddell District Football League. While the Blues were missing coach Terry Ahearn and reigning best and fairest winner Matt Robertson, it’s fair to say that even with the duo on the park, the four points would have stayed with Sunbury.

A slow start to the game saw just three goals booted in the first term, which was enough to give the Kangaroos a five-point lead at the first change. Noticing that his players’ skill levels were down, Ahearn instructed the Blues to kick long and direct at every opportunity.

However, Sunbury’s back-six were too strong, and they were able to rebound the ball with ease to the midfield, which created headaches for the Kilmore coaching panel. If you took James away, the Kangaroos would be a completely different side, with only four other goal scorers for the day.

However, James did play, and that was the difference between the chance of a Kilmore victory and a nine-goal loss. Around the ground, the Blues looked stagnant and failed to run in numbers, an aspect of their game that they have worked on this season. More often than not, players would gather possession and move the ball towards their attacking zone, only to have the ball turned over or spoilt by a Kangaroos defender.

By half-time the game was just about sewn up for Sunbury, taking a 35-point lead into the long break. An obviously disappointed Ahearn certainly gave his players a few home truths in the rooms at the change, but remained positive, believing his side could turn it around.

Any hope that the Blues’ coach had certainly faded in the early minutes of the third term, when Sunbury kicked a string of goals to have the match wrapped up. Kilmore managed just two scoring shots for the term, compared to the Roos’ 12. When the three-quarter time siren sounded, it was the sound of relief for the Blues, who were struggling for breath after chasing their opponents around for most of the term.

Needing to gain some respect, rather than allow Sunbury to walk away with a hefty percentage booster, the Blues vowed at the final break to attempt to make some inroads on the scoreboard. The disappointed Kilmore faithful who made the journey to Sunbury were given a slight reward in the final term when the Blues kicked a barrage of goals. However, the nine-goal final term effort was too little too late, as the Blues could only gain respect from their final-quarter blitz and walked away 54-point losers.

This weekend the Blues have a bye, due to the RDFL’s split round. Don’t expect them to rest too much, Kilmore’s next assignment will be reigning premiers Riddell, who handed out a 152-point drubbing earlier in the season.

matt your article is alot better than the other one, it was very one sided but that is how local papers write when they are writing for the kilmore public.
wannakick your right about the other article but i thought this one was not bad and i'm from sunbury.

I also read that article in the review and i agree that it was b u l l s h i t. not only the author, but also the editor who allowed that crap to be published should never write about football again, they should leave the football articles to the journos that know footy. I have played with and against a james and I know he gets nowhere near the frees that he should. There isnt many players playing regional footy that can stop him on his day. the umpires know this so they dont give him much at all. last year I seen him kick 14 goals out of 16 for albion against st albans in 3 quarters and they got up by a goal. He won the game by himself. He received 2 free kicks for the day, should of got 8, especially when the opposition have him in a headlock. If kangaroos make the granny and they have very good umpires "LOOK OUT" he might decide to kick 15 and win them the flag.

Matt,

Very good article.. From reading some of your stuff this year you should be proud of the work you do..

While I think the other article is nothing but rubbish, I think you may have been a bit kind to the Kangas as well.. The last quarter showed what Kilmore are capable of, and even though they were out of reach, they outplayed the Roos all over the ground.. Something that im sure the coaches of the Roos would not have been too pleased about...
