Spot on TS. For a bloke with his history i wouldnt have thought Jockstrap would be giving out advice to anyone about how important it is to not s.h.i.t. in your own backyard. Tell us Jockstrap, how popular are you at your club? It makes me sick to know that you are still involved!
Still involved with the club or still involved in this site? Just having a bit of fun trying to get the sunbury boys talking again..Didn't expect the personal assault but then again..Would assume that i'm popular with those that i rate at the club and the other's are entitled to there opinions..don't put much thought into it footyhead and don't really care..S.h.i.t.i.n.g in my own backyard? Maybe you could tell me how popular i am because i would love to know..Don't tell me you are one of the many sheep at the club that simply follow the leaders and live in your little fantasy world and pretend that everybody loves you..

Both games could go either way..Firsly i believe that Romsey will beat Sunbury if Burlak fires and the onballers fire but would need everything going there way to pull this one off. I actually hope Sunbury wins believe it or not but think the finals pressure will get to them. If Romsey play the way they did against Riddell last week then i just can't see Sunbury being able to play there normal game..Secondly i think that Digger's should win against Woodend purely because i think that they are the best TEAM in the comp but would not surprised if the Hawks won. A bit of fence sitting i know but that's the best i can do TS!

Not really in depth, but not bad... Anyone else gonna have a crack at a review of the games??? Seen our friend Mr Nicholls previewed the Burra Vs Hawks game on the RDFL website.. Not a bad job either, pretty good review...

Under 18's Qualifying Final

The game which decides who gets first crack at the Riddell machine in the Semi...

Romsey have been quite good this year and have had some outstanding players for the season. Cam Dawson is the Redbacks key and will be looking to put the heat on the Hawks. Dawson won the league goalkicking and is a dangerous proposition for any side.

The Hawks are probably the most evenly spread 18's side in the comp, no real standouts.. But will that change?? Will the Hawks play Jubes, Stacey and Germaine in the Seniors only now that we are in finals time. Common sense suggests that they wont, which leaves the work to the others, which they are capable of achieving. The key for the Hawks is Shane Bowen, he is the captain and gets alot of the football out wide through the middle, as does Dan Eastley. If you give these 2 room to create and deliver to Tad Newman then Woodend are very hard to beat.

If Germaine plays he will add to the Hawks midfield, and they are a harder at the ball side than Romsey.

Woodend by 12 points.

Reserves Qualifying Final

Big game for both sides, I believe that both of these sides will be too strong for Riddell come the 2nd final.

Woodend have been flying this year and apart from a hiccup against the Roos a couple of weeks ago. Darko has been in superb form in the ruck and Fennell has been dominating.

The Burra have a well balanced 2's side, Weaver up forward is the league's leading goalkicker and a tough matchup for most sides. If Heritage is back, he will be much too good for this level and will dominate.

Unfortunately for Woodend, I think it will be a bit like the seniors, Diggers should win, but it wont be comfortable.

Essendon Nissan Cup Seniors Qualifying Final

Who gets the first crack at Riddell?

The Burra have had a consistent season and will be disappointed with finishing 2nd after looking a lock to finish on top.
The Burra's key is the midfield, Jose, Sims and Ruane have been brilliant all year and will look to continue that this week. Davis and Payne have been good targets up forward with Davis especially being a headache for opposition sides, although Payne has played 2 reasonably good games for the Burra this season against the Hawks. I think that is Woodend's one true weakness, while they have a very good backline I think they struggle to contain a big "power" forward.. But I also do think that they are capable of doing so when on. Lacy is in fine form at the moment, while Ng and Else provide thier drive. The small forward combo of Leggett and Pods are dangerous as is Cuinik if he plays.

The Burra will depend alot on the 2nd string, as they have done all year. Marchewka, Janner, Klooster etc often get under an opposition's guard, if they do, look out. But I think the key is Cole Laurie. Cole is a star, but because of injuries, opposition sides hear very little of him, if he is underestimated, he will tear the Hawks apart.

The Centrals ground will suit the Burra and I think they will get home comfortably in the end.

Diggers by 32 points - Cole Laurie BOG.

Under 18's Elimination Final

Macedon have had a tough year this year, but have performed reasonably well, we have to remember that they have spent alot of the season without James Wright and Al Collins, these 2 make alot of difference to this side.

Diggers have been ok through the season, thier only chance in this one though is if Mick Kilty plays.

Both sides a long way off Riddell, Woodend and Romsey.

Reserves Elimination Final

Tough to pick these games due to the changes sides make in finals.

Good to see though that all sides in the 2's finals are in the 1's finals bar one though, should make things interesting.

This game should be a corker... The Roos are almost back to full strength in both Seniors and Reserves therefore allowing the Reserves to field the best possible side for this game.

Centrals have been travelling ok, rumours abound that some players dropped down to the 2's to play in the finals. If they can qualify, why not I say.

The Roos have been good over the past 5 or 6 weeks and have been getting better and better. This though will be thier biggest test, I believe if they can get through this week things all of a sudden become very interesting.

Centrals are proven finals performers, will some very good players in the side, they are sure to make it very tough for the Roos.

The 2 sides have a mini rivalry being the two "youngest" clubs in the competition, and have continued thier race to success with Centrals being the frontrunner for the past couple of years.

This will be a ripper game though.

Essendon Nissan Cup Senior Elimination Final

The Roos have had an up and down month.
After narrowly defeating Romsey 4 weeks ago the Roos were thrashed by Woodend and Riddell in the following 2 weeks, then had a comfortable win over Rockbank in the final round.

Obviously the Roos need to improve thier past months performances to compete with the other sides in the top 5, but they had been up all year and consistent, and looked sapped in those games.
The pleasing aspect of the weekends game was the bounce returned in alot of the players who had been down. The Roos looked good, although put in perspective, they did play Rockbank. Expect a better performance from the Roos though in this game, its finals time, and thier first finals match ever.

Romsey have been the most inconsistent of the top 5 sides this year. They are a very good side though, with Meldrum, McClellan and Morgan in the side they will be a very good unit. Add to that Mark Strack, as well as the ever reliable Tim Cox and the Carroll brothers the Redbacks have been together a long time and play that way. Meldrum and Burlak up forward will need big games.

My tip for this one is the Roos, by 25 points.

I know that question wasn't directed at me mongrel but nobody in this league could possibly beat James one on one. No dissrespect to Kairns but James can bassically do whatever he want's when he want's. If he keeps him under 10 then i think he has done a good job. I think whoever play's on James needs to swallow there pride and be realistic about what they are up against. Without having the 3rd man up in the contest i think it is near impossible to stop him. What do you do? Do you drop a man back into the hole?(good luck to that poor bugger!). Play him one on one with someone else in the pocket to be the 3rd man up wich effectively leaves them with a free man. Or do you just simply play him one on one and try to cut off the suply?

kairns held him to 4 goals 4 weeks ago but it was reported that james was not well and had a bad day, this week we should see if that was true, should be a great contest.

jj ireckon romsey will be aiming to shut down the kangas midfield, and as u mentioned"try to cut off the supply".the two teams met about 4 weeks ago,and im sure the romsey guys will be well aware of who the danger players are

Don't worry, we'll beat Sunbury. James will kick less than five and the combination of Burlak and Meldrum will finish with at least seven goals.

The Kangaroos have been brilliant this year, but we will put the foot down this week, just watch.

Should be a cracking game though, we'll get over the line by 13 points for Dippers 250th senior game at Romsey.

I think that Burlak and Meldrum could be the difference although i do believe that Al is struggling with injury. Not being critical of him at all as i think he is a quality footballer and a great bloke but has been struggling lately. Burlak needs to take more contested mark's inside the forward 50. He spend's too much time leading far and wide and dosen't hurt the opposition as much as he should. Maybe that is the way that he has been told to play but once he get's the ball the option's further down field are limited. Once he leads up the ground he seems to float around after the contest rather than pushing back hard to create another option. Again not being critical just my observation.

See JJ, how much better does this thread become when you actually talk about the football.

Will be interesting to see how the 2 big men are played against the Roos and who will line up on them... Im sure Dixon has something in mind...
