I disabled my Facebook account about 1.5 years ago now. Best decision. Only reason I haven't deleted it completely is because of Messenger and WhatsApp to chat to mates.

Someone told me that we’ll need ID for social media sites soon and even platform will ask for it. I wonder if Bigfooty will need to ask its users for ID too.

We just had someone walk into our workplace (and this is a repeat customer) and start stuffing their pockets full of little ducks off our counter that are sold for charity for surf lifesaving. We called him out on it and he paid for 4 but refused to empty his pockets and I reckon he had at least another 10 in there. Who steals from a charity?
I mean obviously not on the same level as stabbing someone to death...

What defines social media is the question I guess. Social interaction with others where ideas and news are exchanged? (My words)
By that definition I'd describe BigFooty as a social medium.
The difference between forums and social media platforms is the absence of an algorithm that determines/dictates what content is shown to participants.

There wasn’t always an algorithm though. Places like Facebook and Instagram were still called social media back when they just showed you a chronological timeline of posts from accounts you follow.
