Same with google reviews these days (or all online reviews for that matter).

Most people who have an expected/normal/mid/enjoyable experience won't bother at all to leave a review.
Those who have a terrible experience are more likely too.
And the vast majority of positive reviews are most likely payed for.

The internet really has ruined alot
I just got invited to submit a review by a furniture company who provided a good product but completely effed us around with a defect replacement.

They offer a $50 voucher for their store if you post on Product Review - which they say they like because “brands can’t tweak the reviews” - and then you need to send them the link to verify.

I gave an honest review (3 stars - great product, terrible replacement policy) and forwarded the company the link last night.

Intrigued to see how it goes - whether they stick by their claim that brands can’t tweak the reviews, or whether they try to convince me to change the review. I had discussed the issue with their support when I bought the product, so it’s not as if it will be a surprise to them.

Either way, it’s a good lesson in being a bit sceptical about online reviews. Brands (especially start ups) rely on them but there’s a good chance that a huge chunk of positive reviews are incentivised. I suspect most people will default to positive reviews when they’re trying to score a voucher or freebie from the company.

Anyone watched the new spin-off to The Office?
Called The Paper, it's not too bad
What streaming service is it on?

The first season of the original (and parks and rec) both needed some time to find its footing, so “not too bad” is a good start.

The original lost its way in later seasons with how whacky and over the top it became.

By the original you mean the American spin off

Umm...not sure what it's on tbh.
Yeah agree it took me a few tries to get into the original and then I didn't end up finishing it because of how ridiculous it got.

Did the buckles on your sex-swing break after a couple of uses too? They really didn’t make them robust enough.

Grateful for the extra PH, but that's a lot of shuffling around of the regular days off.
Not really a lot.

Two holidays (March and June) pushed back a week to bring them in line with other parts of the country and renaming the June one to Kings Birthday.
Slight variation to the September/October holiday, mostly the renaming to Show Day
New PH in November (which is great, it's a barren time of year for PHs).
Getting the poor bastards rostered on on Easter Saturday public holiday rates which they should always have had.

(From a footy perspective, it kills off the historic WAFL "Foundation Day Derby" match given that holiday is now gone, and the Eagles attempts to use the WA Day weekend in some manner will now be a one-off event this year)

OK. Apart from Labor Day being pushed back a week, except in the event of a State election where it's pushed back two weeks, and the King's birthday being moved from September to June, but the date in June being pushed back a week compared to when it was WA Day, and WA Day being moved from June to November, and Show Day squeezing in where the King's birthday used to be in September, there's not really a lot of shuffling around at all !

Doesn’t come in until 2028, so we’ve got two more opportunities to piss the purples off.

Jack Graham relieved it can't be Queens Day.
