They did at my school for the graduating year 12s but stopped when I was in year 10 when they went too far and vandalised the school. They also pelted students at the assembly that day with water balloons.
Probably got a few complaints from parents etc.

My generation had em banned cause the generations before us took em too. We still got industrial plastic wrap and wrapped a whole building entrance locking in a bunch of yr 8-10 and teachers in building.

There's costumes and also 'mucking up' permitted as long as there's no damage and easy to clean up (and of course, appropriate to the wider public - you ain't going to be allowed to dress up as Hitler as an example).

It's also confined to Year 12s.

I dressed as Jesus for my muck up day - which upon reflection is strange I didn’t get in trouble given I went to a Catholic school.

And yes by that point the “muck up” was canned because of previous years going too far. Vaso and condoms being put all over the lockers was one of the breaking points I think.

Oh and for some lame reason we all kept on ripping the top pocket off each others shirts which actually just ended up ripping a perfectly square sized hole. Unfortunately for me I was 135kgs at that time and had my man tit hanging out out of that hole. Also I had to get public transport home while my tit was exposed

Muck Up Day is largely gone but some clever nuggets still get through.

Year 12s rocked up early this year and took all of our school parking spots, leading to some very annoyed staff at 7.30. Led to some creative parking that day.

Muck up day got banned at my high school after the 12's superglued all the the locks on the classrooms - with students inside. A few of them got disqualified from their HSC over it (NSW version of WACE).

There was also a rumour that someone found the property deed for the school and sold it on eBay but I take that with a grain of salt.

Honestly, pretty fair ban. Cement in the pool was pretty bad, but most everything else at my school has been harmless. All the year 12s parking their cars on the oval for the day for example, just a bit silly.
