Took wifey to my gym lastnight, as she's starting a bit of a health/fitness kick. Found ourselves at the squat rack and I was talking her through a deadlift, when I noticed the girl in the adjacent rack wearing stilettos. And tight little hot pants and some sort of bikini top. She was thin and had a real prominent booty.

I thought she was inbetween sets, as she was doing these moves in the mirror and checking herself out. But no, she was only there to watch herself for about 15 minutes performing full on stripper moves, while taking up a whole squat rack during the peak gym period. FMD
Hey man I was thinking of getting back in the gym but it’s been a while. Any chance you can take me through an do an introduction at your gym.

Also on a separate note, this chick you mentioned, is she a regular by any chance?

Putting aside the weirdness of watching a stripper practice at the gym, my overriding feeling was one of annoyance that she was taking up a squat rack that somebody could've actually been using. It was actually really inconsiderate.

The concept of people filming their work-outs with their phone on the dumbbell rack (or similar), then getting stroppy with people walking between them and their camera infuriates me. It's a shared area where fees are all paid at the same amount, if you don't want to be disturbed doing your attention whore bull-shit, then go at 2am when the place is empty, campaigner.

I go at 4:30am now and all that's there is a bunch of focused dudes and we all avoid each other unless to check if someone is finished with a machine. Then we all leave sad and angry to go back to our pathetic lives without any interaction like gym visits are supposed to be.

4:30 is some level of dedication mate.

You wouldn't be able to tell by looking at my noodle arms. :$

I go to the gym with my work-outs planned in my mind, and if someone is using the equipment when I want to I get really anxious coz my plans aren't going perfectly, so I find going early when it's quiet stops this from happening.

Will the Mrs be going back with you for another work-out or was she put off by the lady of the night?

She was a little shocked at the skimpiness of female attire in general. She's happy to return though.

Yeah, gym results. I've been spinning my wheels for years. Too inconsistent with my attendance and when I am consistent for a period, I eventually stuff it up with poor attention to nutrition. I know exactly what I need to be doing, but I just enjoy beers and chocolate too much.

I had similar poindexter experiences as this at the gym so invested in a home gym set up instead. Pays for itself (eventually) given some of the crazy gym membership prices and you don't have to deal with the average annoying campaigner hogging something you need as well as being able to go at whatever time is convenient that day.

My old gym was full of packs of kids crowding around one of the two benches for 45mins so I cracked the shits and quit.

Can definitely relate to this, but has often been one of the kids getting sick that derails my ability to get into the gym over the past couple of months. My Strava really tells the tale. So many false starts before momentum is lost with someone going down sick, then try to get going again a couple of weeks later, boom new illness.

The first workout back after some time off is the hardest and that feels like it's been half my workouts lately.

Good shout. We did this a year ago. Already had a couple of spin bikes but grabbed some gym flooring, dumbbells and a bench. Can do plenty with it and way easier to fit in a random hour session than booking it in with the significant other, packing a bag, heading there, training amongst others, then heading home.

Can be annoying training with the kids home but it's also good for them to see us trying to look after ourselves.

I'm all for what keeps you motivated, but I've never understood spending decent coin on workout clothes. You're just gonna stink them up. These days I honestly get stuff from an op-shop or Best and Less, wear them till they fall apart then bin them.

I hear ya. Ice-cream and Coca Cola are my big issues. I've hit a purple patch this past month and have got back on the creatine. Solid weeks when the nutrition, commitment and supplements come together are great, but as DanWCE the squids catching something just derails it super quick.

I had a huge set-up then got a couple of really bad injuries and started getting scared of training by myself because of them and sold it all off. Took a big break (5 years) and focused on running and callisthenics and now feel great and ready to go, not hugely upset I sold all my gear but having a gym membership motivates me to keep going coz I'm such a stinge.

I've started going to the gym before work. Means I have to get there at 3am. It's as fun as it sounds.

As an aside, I went today and pinged a hammy doing RDLs. Am I officially old?

Far out man, I have to go to bed at 9pm to get there for 4:30am, what time are you going to bed?

RDL's always feel like a dodgy movement anyway and you're one poor form lift away from pinging it.

Generally try to be in bed by 9 for it

I do shift work so I try and go before work on 1 of my 3 dayshifts. The early wakeups are just too much otherwise.

Is this you with everything else in life. Got a mate that has a plan/idea in his mind for and he gets totally infuriated(and goes silent) when it even slightly deviates. I always like to **** with him when it does

Same. Once my favourite t-shirts become old and worn, they get re-purposed as gym shirts.
