I just want him to stop saying stuff like, big game, eight point game, must win game etc. Every time it has come to this we have lost, got embarrassed by other sides. I am just sick of getting my hopes up, I am sick of seeing the same skill errors. We don't even put pressure on the other side, we don't man up. I am just so ****ing frustrated.

There is a fair degree of spin there.

Reading between the tweaks - it sounded like some admission that the initial game plan was wrong/overdone

Out of curiosity, what would you like Ratten to say? There's only so much he can say...
I would like him to say that we were just shithouse today.

“Going forward we were very slow and reluctant to release the ball to a contest.”
Well maybe if there was an actual structure in the first half for the forward line. Fev Betts all playing up the ground then.

I agree with this.

I would much rather Ratten come out and say "Performances like this aren't not good enough and if we continue to play like this then we can forget about September.

Hardly an eye-opener...

Did anybody really think the season was not going to pan out this way. Our young players and our young coach are still trying to learn the best way to play for our "team". Sometimes they get it wrong, which is what i think ratten is admitting in the article. I will admit i was as frustrated as anybody else with the way adelaide where able to easily waltz the ball out of our forward line.

What it did show is that some of our younger players still have to learn how to execute their skills when the heat is really on, something they and in particular thompson, edwards and goodwin did particularly well. I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt to a few of the younger guys to see how they stand up next time, instead of trying to be fancy, just run hard at the ball. I did think yarran showed something, very clean skills in the heat, one particular kick stood out.

So c'mon be realistic in the fact that the coach is young as well - he is trying not to tear down the confidence of his players - but is also learning as he goes. My positive is i think Austin, Hampson, Yarran are starting to show glimpses of what they could be, they just need more consistency. And the Krueze is fast becoming my favourite player.

So there you go, rant over.

i certainly did not think it was going to go this way. i thought we had the players to get into the top 4, but now I know I'm wrong. There is a group of players who are scarred for life by the events of the previous seasons and they need to be removed.

Stevens
Simpson
Thornton
Carazzo
Wiggins
Russell
Houlihan
O'Hailpin
Bentick
Bannister
Fisher
Scotland
Cloke

They are mental short people because of Pagan and the humiliation that came with him. They will never recover and they are passing bad habits down to the younger guys. The problem is, these are our most of our senior players and we are already stretched for experience. The other problem is it would take 2 years to remove them from our list. Honestly though, id rather none of them played and we finish bottom 4 rather than them pass their bad habits to our young guys.

Luckily, Walker was injured for most of the horror and so he might be able to become normal.

Fev is just Fev and he lives in his own world.

Flame on.

Losing waitey when we did was huge,he's had a big impact the last few matches, but then again only a few guys shouldnt have to carry the bloody load week in week out, crap performance again, the chance of playing in finals is running out slowly.IF we were to make the finals we'd be killed the first final playing the way we're playing now.Half the team dont even deserve the chance of playing finals IMO.

Just on Ratten... someone on radio last night said that he praised Fevola last week for taking Prestigiamcomo out of the play and not getting a touch himself.

Is that correct?

I love Presti but why on earth would you be wanting to take him out of play? Did he somehow transform into an attacking defender like Bock or Scarlett? I would have thought oppositions would want the ball in Presti's hands coming out of the backline.

The problem is that we only have about half the team who really deserve to be playing in September, the rest are just tagging along for the ride.

Show some balls Ratten and do what needs to be done!

Well said, finally! :thumbsu:

When it comes to players you have to 'breed some of your own' as you cant just go out and pick the best off the shelf - not so with coaches !

Well you could tell in the first 10 minutes what was going to happen to us. I don't know what the plan was seeing Fev, and Eddie playing on the wing. Much as the players Ratts needs to answer some questions, after the West Coast game we have 2 very difficult games. We are going to be 5-7 going into the break not a very good thing. And with this game plan I can see the Pies and Dons beating us as well.

Lets take it one week at a time. If we expect WC to fall over we might get a rude shock. They will be served up a can of whoop ass after last night and might come over ferocious

Sorry to see your big fella go down. Hope it is not serious.
Ratten playing Fev up the ground in the 1st q when you had a 4--5 goal wind at your backs? Thanks!
That guard of honour was a class act. :thumbsu:
