Read delisted

Sentimental stuff from Mr Stocks:

The career of Read has been terminated after 74 games with West Coast. He played the first 63 games in succession after making his debut in round 1, 1998 but then endured two knee reconstructions in successive seasons.

That's it.

A bit harsh delisting Read. Poor bugger got shafted by injuries. Not his best year this year, but he was no-where near our worst.

ahh well don't really agree with that...hope he has a chance to be redrafted, doubt it though.

Should have been given the chance to play next year in my book, he served the team very well before his knee injuries.

Damn shame.

Hmm, hope we redraft him. Seems pretty odd that we'd hang onto him given there was some interest in him during trade week, and then delist.. I mean, even if all that was on offer was a third round pick, that's still better than nothing, right?

Why Read and not Munro ?

God damn that limp noodle WILL NOT CUT IT.

At least Read brings something to the table...

Because Munro has talent.... Read does not. I lost count of the amount of times I threw something at the TV in disgust... because Phil Read just grabs the ball and slams it onto his boot 50 metres in the air to nobody in particular. Read has lost it as an effective AFL player.... and no surprise to see him go really. Also no surprise if somebody picked him up either.

Sad to see him go, two knee recos ruined his career. Only played 74 games but will be fondly remembered as the guy who always got under the skin of Docker fans. Best of luck Ready!

Munro has a funny way of showing this proclaimed 'talent' of his. The skinny runt should of got delisted last season...

Ready deserved a chance to have a crack at taking over Banfield's position for the future in the back-pocket next season. Oh well, what can you do...

Munro has stuff all talent. I hope this comes back to bite the club on their butt. I know some rate him whilst others like Exeter and Chris_ Judd don't but the guy has talent and is a real trier. Others like dud Morrison deserved to go before he did a big mistake. He talked midyear about not being happy at the club and who could blame him they treated him appalling. You people that are under the misbelief that it was connected with money couldn't be more wrong. Yes there is a lot more to this story and it is upseting to a lot of his fans here in Melbourne, fans that knew him on a personal level as well. How many guys would offer to show one of his club supporters from Melbourne around Perth when they were over there. He is a great guy and as much as I love my club and work my butt off for them by running their Melbourne Based Squad I've lost respect for them in a way over this stupid decision. Go and celebrate Exeter and Co but hopefully he gets drafted by a club who can see him for what he is and when he plays us shoves it right up us.

So whats the real reason?

wow what a shock...i agree with others - he either asked to leave or has done sumthing to make him get delisted.

He started so promisingly...after being taken at pick 60 (bargin - we thought). he played one strong game this year 24possesions at memory - but obviosly not enough.

I expect him to go to another club...he is better than a wafl player and deserves another chance- dockers possibly???

I thought we need another bak pocket - defensive midfielder but i am obviously misinformed.

He kicked 3 goals in that final in 2002, that we lost by over 5 goals regardless.

Thats It.

He needs to do something, anything, to convince me he even has talent.

He had numerous call ups this season and didn't make the slightest blip on the radar.

Read on the other hand played excellently against Melbourne early in the year, after good form with Easts but was then cut down again by injury.

A fit and firing Phil Read, not one coming off 2 years out of the game with knee recos, would have been an assest to the team in my book.

Agree with that. Not really sure what Munro is still doing on the list. Nicoski will be better than either of them in 2 years.

I THOUGHT READ WOULD GO DON'T THINK HE SET THE WORLD ON FIRE. THOUGH I THINK THE OTHERS THAT WE LUCKY ARE

MUNRO; WEVE WAITED TOO LONG LOOKS LIKE A AVERAGE PLAYER

HUMM; MAKES TOO MANY SKILL ERRORS

WOODEN; DON'T KNOW WHAT HES ROLE IS

read delisted and nikoski and beeck elevated. that's one enforcer less for the eagles.

To be a top 4 we need to develop and cast the eagles defense into stone as the on ball division has

a fullback, and close checking, fast and tall defenders are what we need

Aren't there a lot of people on this thread who seem to know better than the Eagles hierachy. I think Woosha and co... know who has the talent and who doesn't. Phil read is a hard player... who has had 2 knee recos but kicks like a mule... he is a shocking kick under pressure.

Munro may not have shown it yet in the AFL but he has talent.... he is a great mark.. mobile fast.... he has ability. If he didn't he wouldnt still be on the Eagles list. People here are too quick to judge from a few games whether a player is good or not.

We are allowed to disagree with the clubs decisions, but lets face it, bar the dark days, it hasn't really come up that much.
