Toast Reasons for Optimism

I am actually really looking forward to whoever a new coach is. Perceived or not, some freshness and optimism will be a nice change of pace. I'm also so checked out on the current regime that results really don't affect my weekend much again which is nice.

The announcement of a caretaker can't come soon enough. I am hoping the call is made at the bye. Earlier would be preferable.

The other issue is that Switta is out of form and Freddy still makes positioning mistakes. With his pace he should make the fall of the ball more than not. He is rarely near it.

Walters is past it and also doesn't play fall of the ball often.

We lack smarts up forward with our more experienced players.
Is Switta out of form or just a player that's been incredibly overrated for several years now?

I like Wagner. Think he has been a good pick up. Very workman like, good run. That's a bit of optimism.

He is cut from the same cloth as Barlow and MDB. Gutsy. Hard as nails. Plays it fair. Works hard for every possession. And seems like a genuinely nice bloke.

I think it is both. He has been overrated but good at pressure. Overrated because he often can't kick goals from beyond 30m and seems to be allergic to taking the shot. It harms the team more than just the miss. There are only so many open opportunities a team gets in each game. When even one of those is absolutely fluffed it is a momentum and belief killer.

He is down on form even by his own standards.

Nah. He was actually incredibly useful a few years back. Great speed, great hands. When Lyon used to drop him into the centre he would provide spark. Unfortunutely, you're not going to keep that pace up for ever. Plus he broke his back a couple of times didn't he?

Yep and 3 concussions haven’t helped
Hasn’t been the same since
He gets injured so often I reckon he second guesses himself these days and takes the quickest option to dispose which isn’t always the best

Can’t say I blame him
Being injured sux

Probably right on the second guessing himself. On review, that kick to nowhere on Thursday looked like indecision between taking the shot and passing it off. No confidence.

And again, if our team is such a happy group, why are they all lacking so much confidence?

How many games should he get before he is dropped?

I'd like whoever our next coach is to have at least the last 6 weeks of the season to watch us from the sidelines. More than likely we wait until it's mathematically impossible to makes finals before we sack JL though.

He is a tough little bugger and runs all day, the Geelong away game this year and he was the only one whose head never plunged. I feel like they're slightly misusing him though, not sure how but feels like he's not playing to his full potential?

He sometimes gave away silly frees, but he always ran really hard and he loved getting plenty of guys holding the ball. The main issue is our 'pressure' (I just think it's that no one gives a **** and no one wants to play for the uninspiring, boring coach we have) and Switkowski used to have a lot of that. I always felt like he and Shulz, if one had a down day the other would kick three and get a Brownlow vote. they didn't work well together, but together worked well for the team.

He has nfi what to do anymore, just a genuinely useless player out there who plays with no flair, seems to second guess where to run.

Classic sign of overcoaching.

If GWS wipe the floor with us - a likely outcome - I could see it happening Monday week. If we ‘just lose’ to GWS, Port, and GCS, and complete a five-game losing streak - another occurrence that wouldn’t be that unlikely - I could see it happening then too. Um, as for optimism… Treacy’s a real threat for the Coleman?

I wonder if anyone's ever won the coleman and lost their coach in one season
