Good time of year to get some cattle back.

On top of that Treacy is back to goal kicking form and Amiss has continued to work himself into games. We have played a few games without Bolton dominating and I am looking for him to turn it on for a massive MCG crowd this weekend.

I have tipped the Pies and wouldn't be surprised if we win.

I see this as our most important game in ages. Have we ever beaten a genuine top 4 team at the MCG? I guess Melbourne a couple of times in recent years. But they don’t have the huge crowds that the Pies get. Win this and we will have plenty of confidence for later big games at the G over the next few years

Agree - if we can take it to them, beat them or even be right in it until the siren we can take massive confidence and experience from the game. Huge opportunity and I am looking for out top enders to play and cause match up problems.

Just got an optimistic feeling… although I flew into Melbourne at 5am this morning and I’m running on fumes and I’ve been following my better half around the shops all morning so I could just be in a weird Victorian state of crazy football haze… anyway the only thing I’m not optimistic about is my chances of making it out of the G alive tomorrow night if the boys get up cos I’ll probs be hanging out the window of the box waving me scarf around like a lunatic

Reason for optimism #2765: although a win would be ultra handy, no matter what happens today we stay in the 8 and destiny remains in our own hands. That wouldn't be the case if we'd dropped the Hawthorn game.

in the media thread that was kindly posted, this is the first time for years that when I read articles about our star young Vic players I don't immediately worry they will go home at the end of the year.

I don't remember every having such a commitment from the young playing group to try and succeed together.

I like that feeling.

When we take care of business next week we cement our finals prospects. This win is massive and even puts Brisbane in striking distance of the top spot. Until they lose to us of course.
