Recently came across this band from the grunge period and have really enjoyed their music which shares some similar sounds to some of its Seattle contemporaries while offering something distinctly different. Wondering if anyone could recommend me a couple of their better songs and/or records.

All I Know is probably my favourite Screaming Trees song. I'd strongly recommend some of Mark Lanegans more recent stuff though. Bubblegum is a very good album, he did a good cover of Dylan's 'Man in the Long Black Coat' for that film soundtrack (think it was called 'Im Not There' or something like that) and also was in the Queens of the Stone Age for a while. 'Song for the Dead' was probably the best Queens song he sang on.

Pure bliss.

The best Screaming Trees album is 'Sweet Oblivion' without question. Great melodies, great guitars and Lanegan's fantastic voice. His solo stuff is great too but if you want a Screaming Trees album thats the one to get.

agree with IanG. Sweet Oblivion is the Screaming Trees album to get your hands on. Terrific record.

If you're a fan of Mark Lanegan's voice, you should check out his solo material. Bubblegum is my favourite Lanegan solo record. More recently he's started a new project with Greg Dulli from Afghan Wigs called The Gutter Twins; really dark, moody stuff. Can't recommend it highly enough. That album is called Saturnalia.

Basically Lanegan has a midas touch. He floats around from project to project and everything he works on inevitably turns to gold.

Thanks for the help. Does anyone know any place in Melbourne that has any of their catalogue cause i tried 3 Jb-Hi Fi's and found nothing and was told if i was to order dust or sweet oblivion it would cost $30 plus.

your best bet is probably missing link records on burke st

Love this shop, always visit when I come over to Melb. The dude who works there looks like Jim Bower from DOWN,CORROSION OF CONFORMITY,EYEHATEGOD etc.

....oh yeah DUST is my fav:thumbsu:

Got hold of Mark Lanegan's new album, Blues Funeral, over the weekend.

It's a top listen and will be in a lot of top-10 album lists come the end of the year.
