Toast Ken Hinkley Record Breaking Game - May 25th, 2024 vs. North

Even if enabled (like this prick has been) no one else in the sport would stick around as long without success, people that care for the greater good can admit to themselves it's stale & they need to walk away.

Amazing we found the biggest selfish arseh*le in the entire sport.

Clarkson & Hardwick knew when to quit, not this stalactite.

I've been expecting and waiting for this thread.

Congratulations Stinkers on becoming the most unsuccessful coach in the history of AFL football.

You are a disgrace, a massive burden on the club and will go down in history as our worst coach ever.

Even if this record is eventually beaten by Brad Scott in my heart you will always be the biggest loser of all.
Ken will always have the most games coached at a single club without making a GF. His feat will never be repeated.

Firstly, this should be the preview thread. No point in the other thread.

Meanwhile some highlights:
  • Vs North this weekend Ken Hinkley officially becomes the all time record holder for the most games coached to have not reached a GF. Breaking Fitzroy and Essendon coach Bill Stephen’s record.
  • He is already the all time record holder for the most games at 1 club without a GF appearance.
  • If you include coaches that have made a GF, Ken is the longest serving coach at a single club of all time to have not won a premiership.
  • By the end of Ken’s current contract he will become equal 4th for most games coached all time, without a premiership.
  • He holds the record for the most games coached at PAFC to have not won a premiership
  • At 57 this year he would become the oldest 1st time coach to win a flag in history, if he were to succeed.
During Ken’s time:
  • Only Gold Coast, Essendon, Carlton, StKilda & North Melb have not made a Grand Final.
  • Brisbane, Adelaide, GWS and West Coast have both won a spoon and made a GF in that time
  • 7 other clubs have won a grand final.
  • Hinkley's high watermark of reaching prelims has also been accomplished by all but 3 other teams, Ess, GC, StK.
  • Our night game record at Adelaide Oval is only slightly better than 50% at 33-32. Including only winning approx 33% that are played against top 8 opposition.
  • Despite a 60% record and multiple top 4 finishes and never finishing below 10th, Ports record against Top 4 during the Hinkley era is 11th Best in the comp.
  • Port have lost their last 5 knockout finals, 4 of which were held @ Adelaide Oval, all of which played against a side Port previously beat in their last minor round encounter.
  • Hinkley has a 5-7 (41%) record in finals, from 7 home finals, with 3 losing preliminary finals.
  • Our finals record for wins in the Hinkley era has us ranked 11th.
  • Only 2 coaches remain since Hinkley became coach of Port, Chris Scott with 2 premierships from 3 Grand Finals, John Longmire with 1 premiership and 4 grand finals.
  • 6-6 in showdowns over the past 6 years, despite finishing above Adelaide, including 3 finals appearances to none, 3x top 4 finishes to none. Plus Adelaide has won a spoon. Port have a 88-50 record in that time vs a nearly completely opposite 54-83-1 record for the Crows.
  • A 10-12 record in showdowns, highlighted by 3-7 in away showdowns at Adelaide Oval. Despite finishing above the Crows in 8 of 11 seasons, and trending towards 9 of 12 seasons.
  • In 2021 we recorded the worst home final loss for a Non-Vic side in AFL history.
  • In 2022 V Melb, he led us to the only recorded goalless half in our history.
  • Disobeyed tradition naming 2 captains for the first time in Port Adelaide History.
Ken Hinkley has a 60% (155W-103L) Record. Of that:
  • He has padded the win stats with a 2nd best record Vs 5-18 during his tenure.
  • Port is undefeated against bottom 10 interstate sides at Adelaide Oval, in day and Twilight games. 37W-0L.
  • Port has padded stats (34W-3L) and beaten up on the worst teams in the comp with records of :
    • 13-0 vs Gold coast
    • 9-2 vs North
    • 12-1 vs StKilda

With the vicbias and momentum train th that rolls up, it's not entirely out of the question that Scott leaves the club this year

Isn’t it just classic of this frauds luck that his boys club mates at afl house have stuck this in the least interesting fixture of the entire season (kangas in launy) so that it doesn’t get the widespread recognition it deserves as a dismal failure.
Get posting on the socials everyone.

I think it's apt that it happens at an irrelevant ground, against an irrelevant club, in an irrelevant game. Suits Kenny to a tee

I ran out of time to find the stat that comes up regularly about the few teams we always beat. Which again pads our stats.
It's gold coast, norf and st Kilda.

Gold coast 13-0

Norf 9-2

St Kilda 12-1

So 34-3 ag
ainst those clubs.

I dare say a lot of clubs have a similar record against North.

25-1 against the SUNS and :stkilda: is just extraordinary.

The fact that solitary loss came at home in the year we won the minor premiership is whacky.

You could add Sydney to that list of good accomplishments. 7 game wining streak after losing 13/14 matches against them.

Unless he makes the Grand Final this year.
He would still hold the record for the longest time to get there.

No coach in the history of the game has remained at 1 club long enough to get there.
Also no coach that has coached at multiple clubs, even through sackings, has taken that long to get to a GF.

The longest coaching stint without making a GF is owned by Rodney Eade 352 games from the GF he qualified for in his first season with Sydney to the end of his career. Eade of course was sacked by 3 clubs over that period of 352 games, Syd, WB, GC, and never won a flag. So in theory Hinkley could be 4 seasons away from basically holding every record of failure that a coach could possibly hold, whilst all at one club.

It's mathematically possible for him to bring up the magic 300 by the end of his (current) contract and still not have made a GF: 12 more minor round games after this + 3 finals (losing the prelim of course, 23 games + 3 finals next year (losing the prelim of course) = 300!

No doubt Chairman Moi will let him try to beat Brian Lara though.

  • Hinkley's high watermark of reaching prelims has also been accomplished by all but 3 other teams, Ess, GC, StK.
So we've outperformed:
1. A club that has won one flag in their history and was just coming off a big peak, making back to back grand finals in 2009 and 2010.
2. A club that's been through a major drug scandal and associated penalties.
3. A club that's never made it to finals at all.

And if Ken stays I'd back in all three of them to get to the big dance before we do.
