Saw it. Though it was great. Hopkins, superb as always. Only he can say the word "oodles" and send a shiver down your spine. Anyone seen it? Hope there's another in the works.

Havent seen it looking forward to watching it though!! Already read the book four times, hope that doesnt ruin it for me!!!

Saw it 2 weeks ago, thought it was fantastic.

After seeing "Manhunter" and being very disappointed with it, I am glad that they had another go at making this movie. :)

This topic was up a couple of weeks ago. Doesn't matter. I'll talk about it. After all, if I actually had anything important to do ATM, I wouldn't be here on BF anyway. ;)

Unlike Mantis, I thought 'Manhunter' was a great film in its' time. Exactly like Mantis, I thought they did a great job with 'Red Dragon.' Splendid effort.

Bluesbabe - If you have enough interest to read T. Harris books, you'll like this movie. I've read them all too. That's never ruined the films for me. This is a go-seer. Go see it! :D

yes, its pretty good...

will rent out manhunter and check that out..
havent seen hannibal either..

yeah i saw it, it was good, though a little bit too similar to the silence of the lambs i thought.

and whoever said about oodles, i agree, that was a good one 'i have OODLES of time!'

Red Dragon was awesome. The killer managed to make me scared of him, angry at him, and despise him, yet somehow I also felt sorry for him. Hopkins was great again. He plays Lecter so well, he really makes the character come alive. I agree that he is the only person who can scare you by saying 'oodles'. Much better than Hannibal. Everyone should get out and see it.

I don't think he has, from the first time I saw him in Primal Fear, I was amazed by his acting ability & everything I have seen him in since, just confirms what an awesome actor he is, being pleasant on the eye doesn't hurt either. ;)

Mantis - I know what you mean, Primal Fear was an awesome acting debut. Have you seen The Score, that is also a top film . . . not to mention the better-known Fight Club and American History X . . . he was great in Keeping The Faith as well . . . People vs Larry Flynt, Rounders . . . he just rocks!

Excellent, much better than Hannibal was. Went for more of a psychological angle like Silence of the Lambs, which is what I was hoping for. One of the best movies I've seen this year.

Yes, it was excellent! After the disappointment of Hannibal I went in with some trepidation as I had read the books and loved them and Silence of the Lambs was done so well. Red Dragon serves justice to the book.

Originally written by Harris as a two piece (Dragon and Lambs) Hannibal came along many years later based on the success of Lambs. In Dragon we are introduced to Lecter, Lambs we meet Clarice and the start of the relationship between the two. In Hannibal the relationship between the two is developed. This however was missed in Hannibal the movie and I wish Demme or the guy who directed Dragon had gotten hold of Hannibal first to do the trilogy justice.

As for a 4th movie - I hope not, there really is nowhere to go with it if Harris's books are taken as the storyline as at the end of Hannibal - the book not the movie - everything is brought to a conclusion. Anything else would just be a spin off.

What I would like to see though is the sequel to Primal Fear, Reign in hell, made into a movie. And of course only with Ed Norton in it!!

He is certainly a superb actor- one the biggest problems with SOL and Hannibal is they lacked any leads who had anything like the strength of personality as Hopkins. The scenes with Norton and Hopkins in them in Red Dragon are some of the best ever shot- there is just such a sense of two monolithic personalities colliding.
As for the pleasant on the eye part, I'm not going to comment on that :)
