Doesn't surprise me at all really given CA's current agenda which they've made baltantly clear as other above have alluded to. Just more disappointment that they are ingraining it now at a relatively young age.
Unfortunately- this is not new

Not as disappointed as you about it. These days skills are relatively transferable and future four day batsmen will likely still have roles in one day sides. Having been at the carnival for these few days - I'm sold, really like it.

Blokes have got time to make hundreds. It works well.

No dead cricket either.

Young left arm spinner from Vic Country going ok..sorry but there doesn't seem to be any other place to chat about this
Here is perfect

The Redbacks tend to do their player recruiting direct from this carnival! :p

There was a joke a few years ago that the SA coaching staff spend the whole carnival watching the other teams to see which players to target.

Who is the tweaker you're talking about? Where is he from?

One thing that seems to be working well is how they've split up the teams. NSW metro, NSW country/ACT together, Vic metro, Vic country. Seems to have made the carnival quite even. Lots of games going the distance.

Young Liam Bowe who is a left arm wrist spinner from Bendigo

They aren't all transferrable. Batting for a day against quality bowling is a skill that needs to be practiced and is simply not possible in 50 over cricket. Might be something in the less dead cricket argument. Preferred a mix of one day and two day matches.

SACAs win. Good stuff. Umpherston is some player. Handy meds too, hard to get under. He and Page are the two blokes from this side I reckon play a higher level for sure. Winter, Grant, Kerr, Cormack all maybes for mine.

On another note, who is Luke Coates? A country kid who hasn't entered the grade system yet or something? Never heard of him before this.

Don't forget Dudley who still has two more years of U19s to play.

Would be hard pressed to go with anything other than Mennie-Sayers-Worrall-Zampa as our attack after the last two games.

Think we'd want to play one more batter. Head is a bit loose to bat that high in four day cricket I reckon

The leading run-scorer in 1st Grade this year is keeper/batsman Brad Davis. 3 tons in the first 5 matches, averaging 103. You'd think Carey and Nielson are ahead of him given they're in the emerging Redbacks and playing futures but maybe that needs to change.

Anyone got a feel for which of west Torrens, Woodville or Port Adelaide will be cut as of next season?
Could you merge the former two, much like the SANFL club?

Could you merge the former two, much like the SANFL club?

That would be a logical situation. Unfortunately getting those two to merge seems unlikely seeing as they are pretty fierce rivals and don't have good relations. However with this threat it may force them to. Woodville have also been very successful at 1st grade level over the last decade so may back themselves to survive the cull.
