Feck I hate the Redbacks so much.
Mentally weak & plastic, unless things change quickly will get nowhere anytime soon!!!
Nothing gets Port and Crows fans together as one like a pathetic Redbacks lossFeck I hate the Redbacks so much.
Where to after that...?
Swing the axe? Ludemann is in the batting form of his career. Carey has been keeping well but batting poorly.
Harry Nielsen has started churning them out.
Valente looked non-threatening. Gregory?
Grant probably just keeping the seat warm for Mennie/Worrall.
The batting though... back to Kelvin Smith? An untried youngster - Dalton, Jake Winter, Page, Brad Davis?
You'd think not. He says he will though. No way Mennie will be back this season.

No benefit at all dropping Carey for LudemanWhere to after that...?

I'm not a Ludeman fan but his batting record over numerous seasons and age doesn't warrant getting picked as a bat in my opinion.Ludeman is playing as a batsman in the Future's League matches. Having a good season. Harry Nielsen is keeping (and also is starting to have an impact).
Not sure if they'd seriously look at Ludeman as a pure batsman. He never set the world on fire in Shield cricket though he seems to be having his best ever season with the bat.
Look if all four of Mennie, Richo, Sayers and Worrall were fit I'd not play him, but he's still slightly better than Opie etcRoss and Andrews out of the 12 from last game. Head, Zampa and Opie into a squad of 13.
You'd think we would play a spinner?
Unless we'd back the quicks in with the Duke ball and a bit of grass on the wicket.

It'd be nice to overreact, but I don't really see how we can? Not like there are a lot of options.
Something has to change at the top for starters. Weatherald is worth sticking with given his obvious talent, but he really needs to value his wicket a bit more. Especially with Raphael at the other end, who I can't say I've ever rated that highly. But Kelvin Smith? He's had his chance. John Dalton? Maybe, he's hardly the perfect foil for Weatherald but he's scoring well. An opener who can bat for a session needs to be high on the agenda going forward.
Ferguson? Okay, something is wrong there. Take out the 100 earlier in the season, and he's averaging less than 8 across 12 innings. But who do you bring in? Alex Ross who averages less than 30, and hardly set the Futures League on fire. Jump the gun on Patrick Page or Jake Winter and risk exposing them too early? Nobody in grade cricket or the U23 team is really knocking the door down. Harry Nielsen is the best in the Futures League, but dropping Carey would be counter productive given his performances behind the stumps. And Tim Ludeman certainly isn't the answer. It's not like we're flush with options. I always thought Michael Cranmer deserved a better chance though. Screw it, lets bring Mark Cosgrove back. At least he's consistent.
I can just see them dropping someone like Tom Cooper, though who has been arguably the most consistent batsman this season. Someone needs to be the scapegoat though.
At least we're bowling well...
Harry Nielsen is batting really well at the moment. Not sure how he's keeping. Perception from others is that he is behind both Carey and Ludeman as a pure gloveman but he's churning out the runs.I know we're actually sitting pretty well on the ladder but Siddons has to come under pressure. No idea what's been going on since christmas with batsmen batting so aggressively on very difficult wickets.
What about Carey opening and we bring in another keeper at 7? He seems to be most willing to build an innings. Or Cooper.

Ludeman got injured in the last Futures game but has been batting the house down this season. Doubt we'd go back to him. Seems he's being eased out if anything but is in form.
Don't mind the idea of promoting Carey to opener and bringing perhaps Nielsen in.
