Well I wouldn't consider Conca mentally weak like tambling so there should be a picture of Heppell on Reece's locker just to remind him that people think we made a mistake. I have plenty of faith in Conca I just think he needs to be 100% and used properly by our coach.. I don't think a spell in the 2nd's would hurt either!

Starting to feel the same way.

Maybe we should have expressed some interest in a trade deal. All depends what West Coast were offering really.
 
Reece Conca is a squib. Blokes soft as butter, never keeps his feet, even when he gets the ball butches it and is not half the footballer Dyson Heppel is. I've kept quiet on this guy, I've given those posters who excuse his poor performances and development on interrupted preseasons but enough is enough. Stop looking through rose coloured glasses on this guy Conca supporters....he....is....average at best. Taking him before Heppel was a shocking call.
 
The decision to take Conca mystified most , he reminds me a hell of a lot like Jackson as a young player .
The difference being I think reece might fancy himself and may not be as willing to take critiscm on board and therefore is unlikely to improve to the level Jackson has .
Inconsistent kick , some ridiculously stupid turn overs and has been caught lacking defensive aspects of his game.
We have a few on our list that are happy with the AFL footballer tag , rather the wanting to be the best they can , Concas one .
IMO he will not be at RFC beyond his current contract if he sees it out.
 
I'm not saying Conca will be as good as Heppell but I think in large part what we have seen is the difference between a player who has had preseasons, consistent game time , and has growing confidence in his body & feels he belongs at AFL & Conca has had the complete opposite. Conca is not alone. Another example that many are now getting on is Ben G. I think many are underestimating the effects of injuries, lack of preseasons etc & an example of what Reece is capable of....Last 1/4 against the dogs. Takes ball on wing amongst 3-4 dogs screams down the wing and hit JR with a pass that was impossible to defend against for JR's defender...GOAL !! Just that passage alone kept us in the hunt. I know Reece does make mistakes etc but I don't think he's played 50 yet , has he ? Always going to see errors from inexperienced players & he's not alone.....

He's on between 300-330k. There were rumours that West Coast were offering 400 but he didn't take it.
 
I could be wrong but at the game on Saturday, Conca didn't stand out as one of our worst. I thought he mostly found targets and did a few nice things (his burst of speed in the last quarter to find Riewoldt probably the highlight).

Another loss, another unwarranted "moan-session" about a player. It's the same every time. Reece is far from our biggest concern. He was average on Saturday, but so were many of our mids. We got spanked for a half, and he was nowhere near the worst for us.

Comparing him to Heppel? Give me a break. Reece has had one uninterrupted pre-season, compared to Heppel's 3. Pretty sure the majority on this board were cursing the decision to take Griff, not too long ago. Thank Christ nobody here works for RFC. Reece is a very talented footballer, who's missed the benefits of multiple preseasons.

IF he was you would hope he is donating half of that per year to the FTF!

*pretty confident that was WCE offer and he stayed for less... although I wish he went since they were offering their first pick plus a player

I don't mind Conca. I just think we are always focused on how to stop the opposition midfielders instead of just backing in our guys.

Were they? I was sure they were going to try to do a Brad Ebert on us, second rounder or **** off.

Isn't Aish a fairly skinny kid that would always take time to develop ? If so wouldn't we have been in much the same situation as with Conca in terms of developing a new player meanwhile the other player on offer, would they have contributed more to the team than concs ? If not we would have gone backwards in terms of best 22 ??

Unwarranted hey! Your kidding yourself,stop using the preseason crap and open your eyes, he's no better than average and no proved anything at this stage. Why can ppl compare him to heppell? We could of had him and we should of taken him, heppell is a very good footballer with no deficiencies in his game!
 
Am I the only one that isn't disappointed with him? He's come back from a serious injury, he's missed pretty much every preseason in since he's been at the club, and he's picking up ~20 touches a game and laying tackles (something most of our players seem incapable of) in his 4th season.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. He will be fine. He's not about to take a 2 year holiday like that guy you all fanboy.
