I did what i thought may be a good thing in Round 4....i picked Cyril Rioli who had played to slashing games in Rounds 2 and 3 against Geelong and the Dogs respectively. I put him in to replace the terribly disappointing Tippet to that point.

Since then Rioli has been lamentable. He must be injured, but seeing him getting caught by chumps, fluffing kicks, not being of any danger near goals, it's like Rioli has become a shadow of his former self. And his 40's he has been getting over the last four weeks have been very hard to stomach. I am reluctant to trade him, as he is losing value hand over fist, but surely he is too good to be this bad? Anyone think he can turn it around?

He plays for the hawks... They stink. Dont buy inconsistent players in stinky teams and expect them to av 100.

Regretting Rioli? Damn skippy I'm regretting Rioli!!

But in the same regard, he's such a good player... If anyone can lift it's someone like him. He's got a good attitude and if injury can stay away he should lift for the rest of the season imo.

Well, that's what I'm hoping for anyway... Cause I'm keeping him. No point wasting yet another trade and offloading him after he's lost so much value. I recognised him as a keeper when I got him & so I'm sticking by him.

Some of us went for Higgins instead :)
Higgins since round 4: 362 points @ an avg of 91
Cyril since round 4: 204 points @ an avg of 51

Rioli moved a fair bit better today than he had the last couple of weeks, so that was a good sign for those who have him. :thumbsu:

In hindsight I should have gone Reiwoldt-> Chapman, Higgins or Pav instead of Rioli, but there's no guarantees in this game...Chapman or Higgins could have done a hammy the next week (or been rested in Chapman's case), Freo's form could have gone downhill and Pav could have scored 70's and 80's while kicking terribly like he did tonight. Instead all three have been brilliant bar Higgins' 60 last week.

A lot of SC is luck in the end, you can make what seem to be good decisions for all the right reasons and still get bitten in the arse by injuries or a team as a whole falling away and dragging your player(s) down with them.

Rioli had two very good performances against two of the best teams prior to many people trading him in, he had a good formline and nobody could reasonably expect him (and the Hawks as a whole) to fall away as badly as has turned out.

I did too then...

Me too, heard the OP, i'll stay away. Roo goes down, i look at who i can get. I think i might go Rioli, he's scoring well, looks like the OP is gone and he's cheap, so i can use that extra moolah to upgrade a different spud....

Did use the money to bring in D.Cox this week, so not all is bad. But yeah. Hope he comes good.

Him and Hall are killin gme. Waters time might be up to. Might be Goddard time

rioli is killing me every week, but im persisting and waiting for him to come good

Hmm really should stick with Rioli as im now trying to save trades but i f the chance arises when i can go straight swap say higgins, davis, didak or someone alike will do the trade:thumbsu:

Oh, yeah, if something like THAT would arise, I'd jump.

Doubtful though.

I wasted 2 trades on Rioli, went Roo > Rioli then last week Rioli > Brown, the intitial trade did free up enough cash to get Goddard in so it wasn't a total waste, but still.

Is killing me. Will hold in the hope he'll come good.

My side is being plagued by 3 forwards who are struggling in Goodes, Hall and the man in question. Hall isn't a massive concern as a lor of sides will be copping these sub 50's but the other two are really hurting me and preventing any surge.

Will be annoyed once Goodes comes good as he'll be cheap as chips and in 90% of others forwardlines.

Despite these guys sucking for now i'll try stick to my initial trade plan in filling my side with premiums as soon as possible

I blame Roo..... I was going so well and then he gets injured and there's Rioli shining like a beacon in a sea of shit fwd options..... If only Roo hadn't of got injured I would of never have taken him and I'd be two trades better off for it.

I'm now one of the lucky ones that counts myself as being Rioli-less. Personally, I really thought he'd score well against WCE just to teach me a lesson but again, he failed to deliver. Though given I dropped him for Brown it makes me wonder why I even bothered....
