Did anyone else rate him ?

Star

Still got his "23" on my jumper with the ESSO logo on it .

Gutted when he went to the cats , although he was ordinary down there .

Gutsy .... skillful , in a very , very ordinary side

We were so ******** at that time it is very hard to figure how good he was.
Perhaps he was just a fair player in an outfit of absolute hacks.

was a good player, had a fallout with KB at the time and wanted out...was more dissapointed at how Michael Pickering left the club at the time...he was a real stalwart in a terrible team only to be cast aside when we were broke....deserved much better than that

I rated Poole. Very skilful amongst a pack of duds.
But I could have sworn he wona B&F at the Cats?
LMAO at the Esso training jumper. I've lost mine, but I had one too.
remeber the Tetley Teabag sponsorship? You would have thought we were the Sri Lankan cricket team.

Not one that really stands out in my memory, but a good player. Says in his bio in Jim Main's book that he was really disillusioned at Richmond and just wanted to get away. Being a good player at a club like Richmond at that time would be pretty frustrating and I reckon most would want to get away. That's why I luv the Flea so much for hanging in there and staying with us :thumbsu: Could have gone to another club and had success, but stayed with us.

Don't blame Poole though, but interesting that he only played 33 games at the Cats. Anyone know if he was cut, injured or just disillusioned with them and the game as well.

From memory Froars he ended up with chronic Hammies which pretty well finished him off .

He was in a similar situation to Campbell .. the difference being he went through with it ... professional player who wanted success . Throw in the fact that we were completely broke . Don`t think many blokes would have copped being payed a "parma and pot" @ the royal a week as being adequate remuneration

Can say quite confidently he did not win a B&F at the cattery

... and ...LMAOOOO @ the "Tetley Tigers"
My brain has turned to mush over the Xmas period. It was us that won the B&F with. :o

IDGAF.....have you had too much 'Christmas spirit'...?

lmao
At your thread Title...
You should never put Gun & T.Poole in the one sentence !!

If you were a kid at the time....that's forgiveable...
If you were an adult I guess that is forgiveable too...
(I thought we had some decent players till I saw some of
the old games as replays)....and I was at most of the games!

Trevor Poole...?
He doesn't rate...sorry
He ran 'with' the play.....and tried to look 'pretty' when he did that...
(Though at the time, that was Richmond's game style....a lot of passengers)

Nah....Poole was a bit player
In reality, he was ordinary.......in ordinary sides...

Id say bull#$@ to that, not only did he win a B&F, he was in fact a state rep earning a Big V jumper , enough to suggest he was a little more than ordinary..worth going beyond the performance of the team when rating an individual...tends to cloud the judgement somewhat..

That would be the truth in his time at the cattery ... but not at punt rd.

Throw in the fact that i am pretty sure he was captain for a spell .. you are underselling him delib

All I'm saying is...
watch the old Richmond games Poole played in...
watch Poole...
look at our team and they way they played...

Trevor Poole wasn't even on my radar when I went to Richmond games
all those years ago...
(I only ever noticed his hair!)...lol

Pls, someone find a team list from the middle of Poole's career at Richmond,
and I'll show u 10 players you would notice more at that time, in a game, than Poole...

and if Poole got a Big V....than there must have been a quota system with
the Big V and each club...cause he was average...
(and IDGAF, if u had Poole's number as a kid.....I hope u kept the thing...
it will be woth a fortune now.....cause no one but you & Poole himself ever had that number in those years!......(j/k) cheers

I never said 'good player'....(as you say)..
I said 'notice' more...
(Pls read what is written...carefully)

You see, you would notice the Pickerings, Annear, etc, etc more
than Poole on any given day....
Doesn't mean the Pickerings got a kick on a particular day...
They were always around the play...
You just 'noticed' them...

I hardly ever noticed Poole playing...
I'll ask my mates I went to the footy with back then...
I'll bet they will say Poole was average-ordinary..
Pls don't turn him into a gun...
He wasn't..

Cheers

John Annear .... memorable ?

LMAO

The only thing memorable John Annear ever did was that hilarious turtle impression when psuedo tough man "Chisel Chin" Wilson had a try-hard shot at him

Other than that just a scum reject

.... and as i have said , still got the jumper .

One sure way to find me when we win the flag is look for the ESSO 23 jumper down at punt rd. coz i will be wearing it :thumbsu:
