Tim Gepp played his first game in 1983 Round 1 v Carlton at Princes Park. Needless to say we got our ass kicked and seeing a lumbering #10 did not give me a lot of confidence for our future. The writing was on the wall

I will see you Czerkasko and raise you Chris Pym .

Chris Pym, 3 goals against the Roys when we smacked them on a Friday Night at the G in Round 22 1988. We won by 103 and Neville Crowe bared his ar$e whilst sitting with the cheer squad.

A better performance though was Stuey Griffiths kicking 4 against the Dogs at the G in '89. We kicked 11 goals in the 3rd 1/4!!

I think the Chris Pym night was agaisnt the blues and they were a top side then. Round 12 1988 Friday 17 June.

I remember thiking what have we got on our hands here - and so i was answered "not much".

But i stand corrected if not.

Off topic I know, but was Darryl Freame the worst player in our history to play in a premiership?

:) Don't worry about OUR. Daryl Freame was the worst player to play in any premiership team in VFL/AFL history!!!
That includes the likes of Bortolotto, Madigan and Howell.

How bout little speedstar...number 26 Clay Sampson
i remember as a kid i loved this guy...always chassed down people from behind like aaron davey does nowadays. What happened to this guy? anyone one know....IDGAF?

:) WENT back to South Adelaide and still playing some decent football in the SANFL. Well, was still playing last year and I understand he ios going round again. Still only 30 years old.

Steven Mount wasn't much chop.

Good old No 6 himself. Used to make quite a few kiddie jokes about his surname. Really funny...not.
Was your typical punch from behind defender and not much else.

Also allegedly got into bit of legal strife off field with some "unusual" habits.

:) REMEMBER a game in - 81 it was I think - when he got concussed against Carlton. Two trainers carried him off the ground and he looked like he was dead. Never the same after that.....though was actually a pretty important player for us in that 1980 season. He and the now departed Terry Smith were the youngsters in the team and both had fine seasons.

The Year it went downhill................

Gaining Tim Gepp and losing Daryl Vernon. Killed us for twenty five years.

Seriously look at the OUTS and take into account Rainsey had resigned despite being contracted and its a killer. How many of these guys went over the next two years?

GREG Conlan. Fortunate enough to pay four games alongside the guy. Easily my career highlight.
From memory, the guy played six senior games and 70 odd in the reserves. Famous for winning mark of the day on the old World of Sport twice in those six games.
Helluva nice bloke too!!!

Think you took that the wrong way D... St. Francis is a tiger legend through and through ... i was referring to the fallout from his coaching stint .

Not a very popular bloke when he coached and had a fair bit to do with a lot of blokes throwing the towell in after 82 .

Tried to coach to soon after his playing days and was too close to the players

hmm, know what you mean, somehow he thought one needed to act like Stalin to be a good coach...well we all know what happened after '82..still a legend St.Francis.."AFL Team of the century isnt he"....if anyone sees highlights of him, he played the game like a gladiator

76 GAMER:confused:

:) A POSSIBILTY...though doubt it.

Not the type. Too good a bloke!!!

But certainly the era for it. Would have played 60 odd games in the reserves before cracking it for a spot in the seniors. That was part and parcel of the game back then. If my memory serves me correct, Michael Tuck even played 50 odd reserves games before playing seniors.
These days you get a maximum of two years full-time reserves duty before being shown the door!! But back then, you had 52 player lists.
